Just for fun. Do you have shortcuts nicknames for anything? When I see my mum and Who Wants to be a Millionaire is on we always call it Millionaire. Plus we love Jeremy clarkson.

Any televised England cricket match is known as 'the imminent collapse' in this house. As in 'do you mind if I turn over to the imminent collapse?' He knows instantly what I'm planning on watching.

I love this!

The Winter Olympics in our house are called The Slipping & Sliding

We barely call any shows by their proper names tbh! My favourite was that we for some reason called 'The Night Manager' 'In the Night Garden with Iggle Piggleston'.

We always refer to Antiques Roadshow as Greed on Sunday (or ‘Greed’ for short) after reading it in a newspaper article some years ago.

Aintgointogoa · 23/02/2026 22:50

Very unoriginal, but... Bridgers....and that 'scary thing with corridors' as my friend can never remember SEVERANCE. Maybe a clue that she has never been an 'innie' 😬

buswanka · 23/02/2026 23:25

Dh likes to call Corrie ‘Coronation Farm’ because he thinks all the soaps blend into one.

Goggly for Gogglebox.
Traitors is always said in Alan Cummings sultry Scottish accent.

@ RaininSummer, perfect description and if I watched it (find KA unbearable- but will watch Location x3- as we call it coz nosy) that sums it up perfectly.

It is not snappy, and outside this house would mean nothing to anyone, but Four in a Bed is 'My B&B is better than your B&B' . It is a guilty pleasure and we watch the whole week on catch-up when on. This is also why was always book a Premier Inn. Deluded fools.

Not a programme (directly); but in The Simpsons, Marge reads an aspirational magazine called 'Better Homes Than Yours'!

Nofeckingway · 24/02/2026 00:11

Strictly Shite Dancing
Lolly for Love It or List It. Kirsty is referred to as the jolly posh one
Man Shakes Hand With Another Man for The News
How Much for Antiques Roadshow
Smug Ian ( Hislop ) for Have I got News for You
And Hurdy Gurdy Andre for Andre Rieu on Sky Arts I used to record for my mum.

Nofeckingway · 24/02/2026 00:12

And Clean Your Shite Up for Stacey Solomon show

Any of the police reality shows are known as Stop! I'm a Cop (except for Highland Cops, which gets to keep it's real name). Location, Location, Location is known as Hooses.

Used to call Casualty ‘Nonch’, as in nonchalant after first shortening it to cazh, as in casual.
