I dont mean in the first flush when bedtimes mean lots of passion but later when you are settled together.
We dont watch tv but our idea of a nice bedtime is OH is busy playing Candy Crush on his phone, i am reading a murder true life book probably plucking my chin at the same time usually with a tasty pack of biscuits between us!
or maybe we are odd?

Warm my pillow on the radiator, head down & go to sleep.

Jok77 · 20/02/2026 16:16

I go to bed around 9.00 and either read or fall asleep. Husband comes up at 10ish and watches drivel on YouTube about cars or some sort of documentary.

TheChosenTwo · 20/02/2026 16:19

A Combination of things, either reading or watching a documentary. Riveting stuff 😂 but bedtime for us is a time to wind down, not be on phones and relax.
No food in bed ever though, I’m feeling itchy at the thought of crumbs!

Illberidingshotgun · 20/02/2026 16:20

We go up around 9/9:30 with a "sleepy" tea, and read for an hour or so until we're tired. We love our evening routine 😍

WhatAreYouDoingSundayBaby · 20/02/2026 16:27

We normally watch something together in the living room from 9/9.30ish, then once that's finished we go through to bed. We share with our child so don't go through before we're ready to sleep as she is already asleep so we can't turn the big lights on etc.

Lilybo7 · 20/02/2026 16:37

We have separate bedrooms (he’s a snorer); I go to bed around 9pm and either read or watch TV on my in bed till lights out at 10. DH probably goes up to bed 9.30-10ish. DD (10) usually faffing around until 10pm even though she’s supposed to be in bed no later that 9pm

Iliketulips · 20/02/2026 16:38

Most of the time we'll watch TV together until 10pm, but I'll read on the settee if whatever isn't my thing.

Feed cats, then I'll go and read in bed, 15-45 mins. DH usually comes up from 10.30pm.

ThisDandyWriter · 20/02/2026 16:40

fire on, candies lit, pep tea or wine, cuddling dog watching a good Netflix show.

stargirl27 · 20/02/2026 16:42

usually read in bed, OH may read/listen to a podcast/occasionally do a bit of work

saveforthat · 20/02/2026 16:43

I'm shocked at how early people are going to bed. 9pm for an adult?

RosesAndHellebores · 20/02/2026 16:43

We brush our teeth, wash hands and faces, turn the lights off and go to sleep. No TV, biscuits, drinks or reading.

HarryBlaster · 20/02/2026 16:45

9pm is not early when you’re up 5, 5:30am

Yeah, used to get up at 4.30am for work, 9pm was late! Now though midnight-1am, depending on the noise next door if I can go to sleep.

ConstanzeMozart · 20/02/2026 17:00

We tend to eat in front of the telly Blush, then watch more TV til dinner's gone down (I can't bear the feeling of going to bed still feeling full), which is about 9.30, then we both take mugs of herbal tea to bed with a book. It's a bit rock and roll, I know.
If DP is away I do the same except I put the bedside radio on, really quietly so I can still read and not be distracted. For reasons I can't explain, I never feel like putting it on when we're both reading in bed.

Mydogisagentleman · 20/02/2026 17:01

I go to bed anytime after 8.30 (up at 5) read for a bit and then lights off.
DH generally stays up until 111 or so then comes to bed and reads.
We don't have a TV in our bedroom.

Same. I don’t know anyone in bed at that time!

You would be very shocked at me then because im in bed for 8pm. I have terrible insomnia and my brain starts going when its bed time so I have to go to bed early to at least try and get some sleep before the 6am alarm 😔

Some people start work early, my DH gets up at 3.30 for a 5 o'clock start, and others are tired after a day looking after children. It's really not that shocking.

AgnesMcDoo · 20/02/2026 17:12

We mostly watch tv together.
Separate bedrooms. I tend to go to bed about 1030 and he’s usually up till about midnight

1-2 nights a week with some booze. On those nights we both stay up later.

fussychica · 20/02/2026 17:14

Separate bedrooms (snorer)but go to bed at the same time.
Watch several shows on the streaming channels. No food after dinner at 7.30. Go to bed around 11pm, never earlier unless we're ill, read for 30-45 mins before sleep.

tinyspiny · 20/02/2026 17:16

Generally he goes to sleep and I read until about 2 am .

If you're up at 6am I would say what's wrong with it?

I love getting my PJs on around 6pm, settling the children around 7 pm for bed, lounging on their beds reading their bedtime stories then head down for supper 8pm then get into bed any time from 8.30pm/9pm and listen to audiobooks. Light out 10pm roughly.

Everyone has their own routine depending on their own circumstances. I love lighting candles at night around 8pm.

DH goes to bed around 10.30pm.

Yep, I agree. If you've children with additional needs the days are often fraught with stress so getting to bed is a sanctuary. A place to rest. Relax and a time to reflect.

SazKaka · 20/02/2026 17:32

Omg! You are so going to regret plucking your chin 🙈

Musicaltheatremum · 20/02/2026 17:32

We go upstairs at 9. Watch TV until 10.30/11 then sleep.
I used to have horrific insomnia until I stopped work so love getting 6-7 hours sleep now I'm retired.
