Morning all.
Agree with @FurForksSake, we all can have good and bad times and we all need support and friendship and to vent from time to time.
I don't think anyone should feel like a fraud posting here.
No ocado here although we are on the outskirts of a busy city and deliveroo seemed impossible to sign up to.
I do use just eat however.
Yet another period/spotting showed up today, sorry TMI! Presumably my penalty for running out of HRT last month is now random spotting.
Finishing work at lunchtime to get haircut, quick Lidl trip and returns to Next.
Couldn't feel less like leaving the house!
Hope everyone has a good day.

FurForksSake · 19/02/2026 11:52

I’m going to see gynaecology next week, got to see a man about a dog. Or a growth or whatever. Period finished today so at least he’ll have a clear view. He’s a consultant gynae I’m seeing privately and I’m hoping have an ultrasound and he can look at my growth and have a peer at my uterus without me having to go back. I don’t think I’m quite into peri yet as my periods are clockwork, but this period I think my moods have been worse before and during and my periods are fucking horrendous.

Tiredandwired2 · 19/02/2026 12:01

@BerfyTigot Its very strange isn't it. I have a visible band at the moment and im finding it useful whilst i relearn what my body feels like when I am overdoing it. Its also useful for trying new strategies and seeing the impact. Just a few days ago i started taking antihistamines and that had a noticeable impact on my heart rate. I would like to eventually not need it but its still really useful right now because I have never been great at listening to my body but constant POTs symptoms meant I got used to dizziness, high heart rate and adrenaline spikes as my stop signal so now with that gone its a new ball game. I also think it will be a godsend when I eventually (I Hope) start looking for work again.

@FurForksSake I do think you are right of course. Its hard to explain though, its a whole new world after spending 5 years in a more severe state. In saying this though there is no chance I could work yet, so still a way to go. Hope back to work goes well for you and the counselling.

TodayIsatrickyone · 19/02/2026 12:03

Morning you lovely lot! A quiet day here but I slept well and feel a bit brighter today. Too much surface water to dog walk where we usually do and impossible wirh a scooter which I currently need so been in the garden with the dog instead. A bit cold/ damp to sit so I wondered about with a cuppa looking at the bulbs coming through ( early daffs) while dippy dog chased every squirrel/ bird she saw. It was very relaxing.

Hope dressing change goes smoothly @TeaAndStrumpets and you can return to a cosy sofa.

@Tiredandwired2 nice to see you back and everyone is welcome. As others say, we can support each other when days are tricky, what ever level of tricky it happens to be.

@FuzzyPuffling yay for DH being a star today! My DH actually enjoys shopping whereas even before chronic illness I never liked doing the supermarket shop so I appreciate that so much! We do tend to alternate between an online shop one week that I do and then he’ll go in person the next.

@FurForksSake glad you have some therapy sessions set up to help with the return to work and all that comes with it.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 19/02/2026 12:15

Afternoon all. Cold, grey but dry here.

Actually slept again - I'm on a roll!

@TeaAndStrumpets hope the dressing change isn't painful.

@FurForksSake Might be worth trying super complex vitamin B. Can help with period issues, especially headaches, nausea & fatigue.
I used Lindemans. Available on Ebay & Amazon.
Picture below if you want to look into it.

Thread 6? Good grief..what are you up to today if you have chronic illness?
martha79 · 19/02/2026 12:15

Afternoon all.

Nice to hear where you've got to @Tiredandwired2 - gives me hope as I try to figure out long Covid and something that might be POTS but my GP isn't sure yet.

Sympathies on the hormones @Stressybetty.

I don't get actual periods (on the mini pill) but am having one of my occasional period-like things the last couple of days, and it's a pain. I started HRT in August as thought I was in peri but had horrible side effects (stomach mostly), and was told to stop it in December while we work out what else is going on. I'm now not sure if it was actually peri or the anxiety-like feelings etc was something else.

I'm lucky to live in a city where I can get pretty much anything delivered - I have been in the supermarket a couple of times this month, but it was a struggle - real sensory overload.

Am running a workshop (online) at work today - I'm mostly in the background making sure everything goes smoothly. Nervous system was unhappy with the anticipation beforehand and I was very fluttery, so I am surrounded by ice packs, electrolytes and sour sweets to tame it (thank goodness I'm mostly camera off!).

FurForksSake · 19/02/2026 12:23

@CoffeeBeansGalore ordered! I do take b complex when I remember but much weaker. I couldn’t remember why I was taking it 🤣

Morning everyone 😊 having a slow WFH day today.

No rain this morning so fingers crossed that continues!

Hope the dressing change goes well @TeaAndStrumpetsand yay! On locating the Mules hope they are comfy 😊

Thanks all good!

Tiredandwired2 · 19/02/2026 10:15

Hi all,
Can I rejoin? I can't believe it was about 3 months ago I last posted.

Still managing long covid but in a much better place. To be honest im not sure I still belong here. Since my POTs medication i have had to relearn my overdoing it signals and im unsure if i get PEM or if i am just pacing well. Its a lot of trial and error. I just hate the error!

Half term here and weathers been awful. Mostly pottering around the house, dog walks, taking DD to friends. DS who is autistic hasn't got dressed or seen sunlight in 3 days so going to tempt him out with a treat of some sort. Maybe to the local park and grab and nice hot drink. Did manage to make some banana bread yesterday which i am looking forward to later.

@TeaAndStrumpets Ouch! hope it heals well!

That sounds excellent! Brilliant that you've seen some improvement. Banana bread is also a winner. I am searching for a substitute for rice cakes at the moment, they just rip my mouth to shreds. Something a bit more bread-like. Roti looks good so may try that. It's so hard to find dairy free, gluten free etc. I used to make nice scones until I realised the margarine I was using was bad for my cholesterol (no wonder it tasted nice lol)
Burns healing well, thanks.

Swanhilde · 19/02/2026 10:16

Rest day here, clearing my system of yesterday's overindulgence (totally worth it) and preparing to travel home tomorrow 🛏️☕

Feel so much better than I did when we arrived. Reminder that total rest is often what is needed 💕

Hope the dressing change isn't too painful @TeaAndStrumpets 🩹 🩹 🩹

All going well thanks. Rest is so important, can't do anything with a flat battery!

Stressybetty · 19/02/2026 13:29

@CoffeeBeansGalore currently taking high strength b12 but that complex looks interesting, will order thanks!

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/02/2026 13:30

BerfyTigot · 19/02/2026 10:46

@Tiredandwired2 I'm in a similar situation. I have recovered a bit from fibromyalgia, only occasional pain. Still need lots more rest than I used to and am always careful. Absolutely trial and error. I'm thinking about trying one of those Visible bands.

I posted on here saying that I felt like a fraud being on here, but people seemed happy have me around still.

It's an odd situation.

Well 99% of the people we meet think it's not as bad as we say, so you are wecome!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 19/02/2026 13:31

@Stressybetty @FurForksSake hope it helps 😊.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 19/02/2026 13:32

And just to add it's helpful for thickening hair & encouraging growth.

Interesting about the B12. It was one thing the consultant recommended when I got my ME diagnosis. I take the sub lingual drops.

Sadly not for me....but maybe without it I'd be even worse!

Oioiqueen · 19/02/2026 14:02

@BerfyTigot no frauds here. I joined here on pain meds, unable to climb stairs and rather poorly. I'm now off all pain meds, can't get rid of the secondary cancer though but having a space to vent about fatigue and hospital visits amongst people who understand is key.

Oioiqueen · 19/02/2026 14:06

Sooo to add to the water pissing through the kitchen ceiling yesterday I'm now having a day out in the assessment unit of our local cancer ward. Seems I'll do anything to get out of work. Threw a couple of temperatures this morning when I tested so phoned the chemo line to be on the cautious side. Just seems a bad cold from bloods but just waiting for some extra tests to come back and hopefully they'll let me escape.

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/02/2026 14:16

@Oioiqueen hope they let you home soon. Don't climb up any ladders decorating!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 19/02/2026 14:41

@Oioiqueen Hope you escape soon!

Tiredandwired2 · 19/02/2026 16:45

@TeaAndStrumpets Roti is a great idea. I always imagine gluten free and dairy free is hard. I am gluten free and have been for years but not diary free. I am not UPF free which means I have to cook everything from scratch or have it minimally processed to feel ok. I looked into a low histamine diet yesterday but no way I could manage that.

I love scones! havent had any in a while, got to have a treat now and again.

@Oioiqueen What a tough time your having (understatement). Hope you get back home soon.

TeaAndStrumpets · 19/02/2026 17:29

@Tiredandwired2 i've found a Bengali recipe that uses rice flour with boiling water and some salt and olive oil so very simple. It gives instructions for food processor plus dough hook so that appeals! No energy for kneading so it sounds too good to be true! Will report back.

Buckwheat pancakes are easy, just flour salt and olive oil with water, so the same basic recipe. DH is quite a dab hand at these, he uses the hand mixer. He makes them in quantity and freezes them for me. I like them but they taste sweet to me, hence wanting to use rice flour. I use brown rice flour from Doves farm, which is where the pancake recipe comes from.

Hi all, chronic illness isn’t the same for all of us, and that’s ok. Some of us have ups and downs and some of us have more consistent symptoms. That’s ok. I like the friendship and empathy that is in here and that people get when things are hard and are pleased when things are a little easier.

im starting some online therapy sessions next week and going back to work. I’m still not ok about going back but it is what it is.

Been thinking of you. Glad you have got some support for how you are feeling and do hope it helps.
