I'm a bit too brain fogggy to type much right now ..busy day at work. Utterly shattered though I am a bit better after lots of rest at the weekend.....

But Instagram is trolling me again. It knows too much... honestly. Seems to have summed up my weekend!

Image is from Thomaslelu. Random funny scribbles seems to the the thing.

Hope you are all ok. Will catch up on our ramblings later.

Thread 6? Good grief..what are you up to today if you have chronic illness?

I think that sounds like a good plan for your walking @FurForksSake. I used to run and walk a lot, mostly alone, but never quite got over feeling at least a bit (and sometimes very) anxious about it.

Very busy day, feeling quite rough and I've only got through work by doing some of it from bed. Have been pinned to the sofa by a cat for now but will definitely be an early night.

The quote made me smile! 😂 Its definitely my life tbf and more so than ever lately. My getting out seems to be limited to medical appointments!

FurForksSake · 16/03/2026 18:15

I like that wuote! I’ve realised I’ve got a pain med review with a pharmacist calling tomorrow so I can’t go out until that has happened. So maybe I’ll plan a walk round the range tomorrow and a walk on Wednesday. Unless he called before 9.30. I find I’m very weird about going out in the afternoons.

TodayIsatrickyone · 16/03/2026 18:40

Hope you can manage it tomorrow @FurForksSake Would it help to listen to a podcast or something as a distraction?

CoffeeBeansGalore · 16/03/2026 18:51

@FurForksSake taking the car sounds like a plan. You get out regardless.

I do miss walking my dogs. It was nice seeing the seasons change, watching the trees & hedgerows burst into life.

My mothers day ended up being Saturday. Mostly lovely.

Woke up this morning looking like my hair had been to a rave without me 🤣. It'll settle by the end of the week (after being cut last week. Tends to have a hissy fit for a few days). Physio for me tomorrow morning so didn't overdo things today.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 16/03/2026 18:52

@MewithME good quote!

TeaAndStrumpets · 16/03/2026 19:56

Glad you are all mostly OK. Definitely Spring like but rather cold. This morning we had to go to the solicitor's to verify our IDs for the house sale. We have been bombarded with email documents to sign then had to upload passports etc to a special 'portal' to prove it's really us. I did this when we sold my brother's house and it was easy. Unfortunately I am married to a dinosaur who doesn't have a smart phone, so couldn't do it and we drove to the office instead. The ladies on reception were very entertained to see DH's antique phone!

Really the worst thing about going to the solicitor's office was seeing myself full length in their glass doors. I was quite nicely dressed bar wearing socks and sandals (feet still tender), but it was a bit nippy out so I grabbed an anorak and it was really not a good look!

FurForksSake · 17/03/2026 11:37

Morning! Finally had a conversation with the pharmacist who has casually trebled my gabapentin dose and put in on repeat and given me back my naproxen and lansoprasole, but they want me to use that only short term. Meh. Not sure I want to take lots of pills but if it lets me have some pain free time it might be worth it.

Dozymoo42 · 17/03/2026 12:19

Glad you’ve got some pain relief sorted @FurForksSake!
@TeaAndStrumpets your post just made me chuckle about the ancient phone 😂 I am sure you looked very fetching anyways who cares what they think it’s about comfort x

Edited

Oh yes comfort is top priority!

Glad you got more pain relief @FurForksSake

FurForksSake · 17/03/2026 12:56

Thanks! I was a bit stunned when he told me I was on a third of the dose they usually give for my types of pain.

TodayIsatrickyone · 17/03/2026 13:33

Morning! The sun is out! Whoop whoop 🙌 I’ve pottered about a bit more today, DH been tidying up a bit in the garden and we managed to lose a very small brown dog in the overgrown jungle behind our garage that was supposed to be blocked off. She was rather well camouflaged but eventually came trundling out like we hadn’t just spent 5 mins calling her and rattling treats!
Going to try a nap this afternoon as I’m not sleeping well and DH is now out so the house is quiet.

@TeaAndStrumpets I’m sure you rocked the look yesterday! Sounds like progress on the house front 🤞

@FurForksSake it’s frustrating needing meds but if it helps manage your pain, then it’s worth trying. I do remember a bit of trial and error when I was first diagnosed with fibromyalgia to see what helped and what didn’t.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 17/03/2026 15:49

Afternoon all.
Hope everyone is having a good day.
Physio appt this morning. Came away happy & positive.
She's really pleased with my progress. Has tweaked the exercises to make them a bit harder & given me a few extra to try & help increase my knee strength & flexibility. This is going to be a challenge.
Knees definitely a big weak spot & I will really have to steel myself to do these. It's the fear of collapsing if I go wrong so will have to wait until dh is home every day in case I need to be rescued off the floor.
But it's confirmation I am getting stronger. Glacially slow but improvement none the less 🥳.

I also find the pharmacist seems more willing to increase meds, know what you mean ForForksSake

Liking hearing about the funny old phones etc. My MIL has a tablet to use wonder if something like that might help in future?

I have a 1 on Visible this morning. Don't feel great either, but wondering if visible might be causing me more stress with it's readings? I don't have the full band thing mainly for that reason.

I had to go out to the pharmacy (to buy a new toothbrush - exciting stuff as usual!) and hoping that has not been problematic.

Have decided to go for the ASD referral after all seeing as the GP has sent it off. But going not to stress over it so have filled in the forms briefly and have an old school friend doing their one.

Been booking boys in for the Men B vaccine, got one booked but the other is on a waiting list (he did have one but not the second, annoyingly)

We'll see. Nice and sunny out Daffodil

Swanhilde · 17/03/2026 17:07

Home from work and in bed with a cuppa ☕

Weary but fizzy, which is unusual. Did finish off the last of the apple and blackberry crumble yesterday so maybe it's the last of the sugar leaving my system. I did sleep a bit better though ...

DH is cooking sausage, eggs, chips and beans for tea 😋

Hope you've all got the gorgeous sunny evening we have here - I'm looking at it through my bedroom window ☀️

Oioiqueen · 17/03/2026 18:51

@FurForksSake take allll the meds. I know it's frustrating, I hated doing the same when I got my secondary diagnosis. I felt like I was rattling every 4 hours. It's good to hear the pharmacist was on the ball. Sometimes you just find a good one that looks at a person holistically and wants to just help get rid of pain. Do you normally cope well on lower pain relief. Apparently as a red head I need more pain relief than the average person I actually find I'm the opposite.

FurForksSake · 17/03/2026 19:05

I’m in constant pain, I feel like my physio thinks I’m totally pathetic, my tendinitis in my shoulder is now stopping me sleeping. I feel like I’m always trying to manage pain. I’m covering my shoulder in disclo and I’ve got a diclo patch on my lower back. I’m about to pop some cbd capsules and start my evening regime of that, peptides, magnesium and ashwarganda.

I didn’t go for my first walk today, but I’m going to try tomorrow. I don’t have any appointments so it should be ok.

l will take the meds and see how I get on. I also need to do the pain course my therapist sent me so I’m going to try and start that tomorrow.

Tiredandwired2 · 17/03/2026 19:37

Hi all,
Hope you have all had some lovely weather today. It's been lovely here.

Few busy days trying to sort of essential things so haven't been on much.

@FurForksSake I would be interested to know what the pain course is like. I saved the name of it when you mentioned it. Is it free?

Orangesandlemons77 · 17/03/2026 19:37

I'm on a lot of pain meds too, gabapentin and co-codomol and they have increased the gabapentin to what they can.

I'm thinking of asking for something called a Butrans patch, or a review but worry that they will take the co-codomol away and sometimes it seems to be the only thing that helps.

And I might not get it back, as they seem to dislike me being on it.

FuzzyPuffling · 17/03/2026 19:40

The sun shone today and I did loads and now I'm knackered!

I wonder what its like to have sufficient energy to do stuff in the afternoon too?

https://ms-uk.org/blog/pain-management-apps/ there are some other options here, I’ve heard good things about curable.

JewelleryCat · 17/03/2026 20:04

Do these pain management apps work?

FurForksSake · 17/03/2026 20:08

The pain trainer is a cbt programme and designed by psychologists and properly reviewed. Our understanding of pain and pain psychology is really quite new, there js more and more research into not medication options to help cope. Calming the central nervous system and learning pain science can apparently be very helpful.

Thanks. I will look into this.

i currently manage without pain medication. Have had amitriptyline, cocodomal, gabapentin. But weaned myself off them all.

pain levels creeping up again now so I'm keen to try anything to keep it manageable. I will look at that course
