Morning all! Really beautiful day here.

I've been pouring in Earol hoping my lugs would magically unblock but now my left ear is blocked totally so I've booked in for some microsuction later. I had it done a year ago and it was like a miracle, but there was a bit of a hard sell for hearing aids. In the meantime we were recommended another place so I'll go there this time.

Also booked the osteopath for my sciatica and stiff neck, so my body is gradually being attended to! Need new specs but that can wait!

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/03/2026 10:07

BTW @FuzzyPuffling are you still walking on air from the weekend?

I'm still sleeping...does that count? 😁

Enjoy your rest!

Sleepy rather than sleeping! But it was worth it.

Hope you wowed 'em with your glam footwear and new specs!..I just realised I last bought new specs when DD2 got married in 2017! So I'm due a new pair I think 😉

martha79 · 10/03/2026 12:01

Hope you're recovering well @FuzzyPuffling

@TeaAndStrumpets I hope the ear cleaning works wonders.

I had a horrible night's sleep, really vivid dreams and not restful at all (even if my watch tells me I got exactly eight hours of it). Been up since 5am and am increasingly tired and grumpy. Having said that, I put two days aside to do what I thought would be a big job at work and I've finished it this morning so can take it a bit easy.

Just had a phone call to go into GP surgery for "more tests" on Friday for my Long COVID clinic referral. She didn't actually say what they're testing 😕Does also mean I have to cancel the massage I had booked for that day.

TodayIsatrickyone · 10/03/2026 12:14

Morning all, quiet day here mostly still in recovery mode after hospital yesterday and a disturbed night but have managed to potter a bit this morning so not entirely wiped out at least.

Good luck @TeaAndStrumpets with your various appointments and hope you can hear a pin drop later!

Glad it was worth it @FuzzyPuffling and you have a lovely memory to look back on.

Hope you can take it easy later @martha79 and you can still have your massage on Friday. Maybe they’ll just take more bloods to ensure they’ve checked everything. My DH went to a long COVID clinic a few years ago and I think they checked breathing/ swallowing too but that was maybe due to his specific symptoms.

Orangesandlemons77 · 10/03/2026 12:15

I'm waiting on a call from the GP to discuss something boring. They did actually ask me in for a F2F but asked to change to a phone call as not the best this morning. The new online bookings system seem sometimes to be remarkably quick with seeing you which I suppose is good but anyway.

The CFS clinic sent their follow up letter from the course and they seem to think I have improved even though I haven't! Saying my mood levels and something else was a bit better but missing out the fatigue levels are worse!

Hmm. Oh well, there is a six month follow up appt so will see how things are then.

Going out to collect a prescription later, the limit to my exciting day today. Oh yes and after yesterday Visible is saying 2- Out of balance, which is about right after yesterday.

Hoping for a good day for all

TodayIsatrickyone · 10/03/2026 13:18

Take it easy today @Orangesandlemons77 your exciting day sounds similar to mine! Out of balance too but I knew that 🙄
Going to brave the garden with the dog who is still supposed to be on the lead out there after her op but she’s chomping at the bit to run around so I think I’ll let her run off some energy for a short while.

FurForksSake · 10/03/2026 14:43

Afternoon! I am so tired today. I was at work for longer than I should have been yesterday. Tomorrow should be a bit easier but I’m glad for my rest day.

ive applied for a blue badge. I don’t think I’ll get one, but walking is getting harder with my back, hips and the fibro it’s just exhausting. Nothing ventured and all that.

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/03/2026 14:43

Well I had my ears cleared but not such a miracle cure as when I had it done last year....but it was BAD last time! Anyway now I can hear with both ears again but they are not that great to be honest. I had some NHS hearing aids over 10 years ago that were horrible, but I think some modern ones would be better. Still mulling it over.

I am getting a lot of things sorted this month, I avoid things because it's so tiring, but trying to do them anyway.

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/03/2026 14:53

Sympathies to all on the merry go round of tests etc.

martha79 · 10/03/2026 16:26

Definitely worth trying for the blue badge @FurForksSake

Glad your ears are a bit better @TeaAndStrumpets

I found the GP referral instructions online and it looks like they may need to do more blood tests, plus height, weight etc as they won't have that on file from any time recently.

The sunshine is making me want to spring clean but I don't have the energy. I have just stuck the washing machine on with a bottle of the Dettol cleaner stuff though, and I've got something similar to go in the dishwasher next. And my gardener has been today (my landlord pays for her to come once a month as she has done for years) - got a nicely mown lawn and everything tidied up.

Yes that sounds right, they check other stuff which could cause tiredness such as thyroid, vitamin d, anaemia and also things like autoimmune stuff as well (sorry am a bit vague but it is basically to rule out other things as far as I am aware.) Hope you get all done soon, it can be a faff can't it.

Well I got my prescription and a wander back via the local shop for any reduced price bargains, got some berries and a Graze flapjack so just having that with a coffee.

It's getting cold out there again which is annoying. Thought we had got through that but it seems not! At least it is not raining I suppose.

Swanhilde · 10/03/2026 17:17

I had to have a chest x-ray too @martha79

Home from work and in bed with a cuppa and a hot cross bun - I'm exhausted ... 😴

Seems to be a pattern now, so I least I know I'll feel better by tomorrow evening 🤞

DH is cooking tea and then I'll have another early night 🥱

Have a restful evening all 💕

Oioiqueen · 10/03/2026 19:20

@teaandstrumpets my hearing aids are from Boots. It's so easy to make an appointment to fit around life. Most modern ones now connect to Bluetooth on your phone or TV. I don't bother with that function but the level of aids I've got now you wouldn't get on the NHS. Also Boots do a 0% finance plan which I was accepted for which helped balance the payments.

Oh that's good to know. I wasn't thrilled with the NHS aids and there was zero aftercare so I'm inclined to go private. I wouldn't be suitable for the invisible ones apparently so at least the normal ones are not terribly pricy!

@Orangesandlemons77 it is still quite cool. We drove past the university and saw some REALLY short shorts and all the students in summer gear. Oh to be young!

I'm trying to remember what tests I had via my endocrinologist I think thyroid and cortisol. That was for ME though, I imagine though post-Covid they are looking for clots etc and lung function, it does so much damage. Vile illness.

TeaAndStrumpets · 10/03/2026 20:38

Just to add, going past the students I saw a lad with a huge red mark on his leg and I thought Oh dear that's a nasty burn. When we got closer realised it was a large intricate tattoo! Maybe if I end up scarred I could get some tattoos. I can think up designs when I can't sleep 😉

Dozymoo42 · 10/03/2026 20:42

Had a bit of a sleepy day today on and off, my husband has gone away for a few days and the dog has decided now is the time to have a phantom pregnancy 🤦‍♀️ she’s had me up all night crying and being restless and covering various toys up with blankets on the bed!

luckily I am off work! So we have had a restful day on the couch aside from putting away the shopping which was delivered. I’m feeling a little bit like I am in a catch 22 position at the moment constantly tired and wanting to sleep but then worried I am making things worse by sleeping.

MewithME · 10/03/2026 21:08

Hi all. I've been so exhausted with work, I'm barely keeping up with you all. Feeling a bit down tonight and think it's fatigue and pain. There's some complicated life stuff going on. Usual niggles and some added pressure at work. Line manager is off sick and don't really know where I am with bigger boss. They're relatively new and I'm not that keen or sure about them.

I'm desperate to see my mum and take leave at Easter but not sure what might be approved in my line manager's absence.

Felt really uncomfortable at work. I'm symptomatic. I really struggled in my meeting. There was a lot of background noise. I really suffer when I'm very fatigued with noise intolerance and brain fog. One presenter spoke so fast I found it exhausting and too hard to concentrate. It felt almost like physical pain having to listen. Then someone else was typing constantly (which is rude because there's no reason to be doing that) but she has long nails so it's a constant ticky ticky clacky noise. I can't bear it. Then...and this sounds bad ... another presenter has a very strong accent which is unusual which I find tiring because I have to think about what she's saying. Her English is excellent and she's good at her job and v nice...I just find her hard to listen to. 🙈 Then there was gardening work outside with machinery and sirens. It was really hard going. 😭

Thanks for the indulgent whinge.

@TeaAndStrumpets MEcfs diagnosis and so called treatment is so varied. I've never seen an an endocrinologist. They tried to refer me to rheumatology and it was rejected. Despite it being neurological, I've not seen a neurologist. The only consultant I ever saw was half an hour via video call to get my diagnosis. He was subcontracted by my NHS area apparently and that's stopped now.

@FurForksSake I hope you get the blue badge. I was rejected and then reapplied when I'd got my consultant diagnosis and got it. It's due for renewal this year and I'm worrying they won't renew. I definitely needed doctor's letter and consultant diagnosis to get mine.

Sending love @MewithME life’s hard enough at times but navigating it with fatigue and symptoms is a whole new level of hard, I hope tomorrow is kinder to you and that your leave is approved to see your mum

MewithME · 10/03/2026 21:54

Thanks @Dozymoo42

I'll be a bit brighter after some sleep. I'm not good with too much uncertainty. I am missing my line manager a lot. She's a good friend to me at work and there's not many I trust there really.

Sounds rotten @MewithME hope you get through the rrest of the week OK x

@Dozymoo42 your poor dog she must be very unsettled. And you, of course!

Dozymoo42 · 10/03/2026 22:28

@TeaAndStrumpets this is a pic of her current babies and the blanket she is wrapping them in 😢 she’s currently loudly voicing her displeasure at the fact that I won’t take her down 2 flights of stairs to bring more babies to my bedroom 😂

Thread 6? Good grief..what are you up to today if you have chronic illness?
