@martha79 it's a shame for your friend that she misses doing things with you, but she can still do those things. It's an adjustment for her too but you're right to not take it on board too much. Maybe when you have a good day and can get out with her, it'll make it all the more special.

I've appreciated my friends who are flexible and understanding. One especially is super sweet about it.

I find I worry about saying I'll do something and then not being able to bit the good friends are ones you can book the time with and then decide on the day if you are up to going out, staying in for coffee...or not at all and maybe a quick phone chat.

The sun is out here! It is such a nice change.

DH is sweeping up the moss round the house,. We get cascades of it when it rains, and boy has it rained! It's worse by the back door and it's so slippery underfoot.

We have another house viewing on Tuesday, so a small amount of tidying is called for!

Dozymoo42 · 22/02/2026 11:37

Morning all ☀️ The sun has also graced us with its presence! It’s amazing how it lifts your mood isn’t it.😊
@JewelleryCat I absolutely love daffodils they make me smile, remind me of being very small and on the way seeing my great grandma picking them for her. Instant happy vibe when I see them !

TodayIsatrickyone · 22/02/2026 11:52

Morning, more gloom and rain here. I’ve never known it so wet!

A quiet day here, still not back to baseline after my collapsing incident & A & E visit. Felt I was getting there, dizziness seemed to settle and then attempted a very short dog walk a couple of days ago ( as too wet for mobility scooter) and frustratingly set myself back again. Hospital follow up this week so need to rest enough to manage that.

Might watch an Astrid in Paris as a few to catch up with. My son bought me a piano book for adult beginners as we still have his old piano and I happened to say I wish I’d learned to play. I think it’s a cunning plan so we don’t get rid of the piano but I’m really enjoying attempting the lessons although I’m having to go back over each one many times. It’s a change from audiobooks, puzzles, Duolingo ect..

Hope everyone can have a peaceful Sunday and those with sunshine can enjoy it even if it’s just through the window!

Yes, the sun is out here as well. For something that might cheer people up and bring spring into their homes, some cut daffodils. They’re only a pound or so and they really do cheer me up when I see them

Another thing that has pleased me is a scented hand wash and it’s a beautiful fragrance, very subtle. I’m very easily pleased lol

Ahh youre so right! Love daffodils too and my DH bought some this week and they do cheer me up. Funnily enough I also put a new bath and bodyworks handwash in the bathroom yesterday ( online sale purchase!) that I’m loving using and even DD has commented that it’s really nice. So yes these little things definitely help.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 22/02/2026 11:59

Morning. Beautiful blue sky & sunshine here. Will be tackling the washing mountain today. Other than that just a day of pottering 😊

MewithME · 22/02/2026 12:00

@TodayIsatrickyone I can play piano. I did my grades when I was a teen. That's a v sweet gift from your son. 😊

I just put a load on !

Too breezy to sit out so I'm in my comfy chair in the extension which overlooks the deck. It's my favourite Sunday morning spot though...it's afternoon already.

I'm feeling tired. I've had a shower because my hair was gross and it's on site work tomorrow but no plans other than rest today. Reading and telly and naps and feeding DS!

Did 45 mins in the garden, tidying and deadheading pansies. So good for my soul ☀️🌸☺️

And I'm a sucker for a gorgeous smelling hand cream. Neil's Yard and Body Shop are favs, anything citrus-y. DH bought me an amazing L'Occitane kumquat one last Christmas but they don't seem to do it anymore 😕

Small pleasures 💕

Tiredandwired2 · 22/02/2026 12:06

Good morning.
Kids free day today so no plans. Just pottering and seeing what I fancy (and can manage). Likely a small dog walk and a lot of TV at some point.

I also love daffodils. I did plant daffodil bulbs last year that have now bloomed. I had completely forgotten about them so it was a lovely surprise.

@MewithME If you know the owners and have visited lots then I would do it. Booking a holiday would be lovely and something to look forward too. I need to do the same. I used to go to Poole every year since I was a child but haven't been in 3 years. I really miss it. I haven't even done a small local weekend away for two years. I need to do something this year, need a bit more joy in my life.

MewithME · 22/02/2026 12:06

Well done @Swanhilde 😊

CoffeeBeansGalore · 22/02/2026 12:12

@Swanhilde Pansies are such a cheerful flower. Makes me smile.
And I love daffodils. Too early for ours. Beginning of March they usually start to bloom.

MewithME · 22/02/2026 12:27

@Tiredandwired2 I'm starting to daydream about when DS is an adult and maybe I can manage little trips for myself more. Thinking about lovely places just an hour from where I live. That would be cool.

I haven't been abroad for decades. Feel a bit sad about that but it feels beyond me. Mainly queuing in airports. I wonder about a cruise one day perhaps. Not a big noisy one. Id love to do the Norwegian Fjords. It's nice to dream a bit. I know I'm doing ok if I feel like there are some possibilities perhaps, one day.

I did go to the channel Islands a few years ago. Not exactly abroad but I'd love to go back there. Was beautiful. Familiar and exotic at the same time!

We'd love to do the Norwegian ffjords cruise and other places one day. I'd like to live abroad somewhere warm too at least during the winter!
Once MIL sadly goes we will have more flexibility although still have the dogs.
I went to some of the Scottish islands as a teenager, Mull, Skye and Iona and I've been to Guernsey I think.
Iona was beautiful and there was such an amazing sense of peace, calm and tranquility there. I'd love to go back one day. It is nice to dream.
DH and I went to Corfu years ago and Portugal. Corfu was nice and the heat there was a good heat, not draining.
Portugal was exhausting, busy and a nightmare for me fatiguewise and incredibly overwhelming.

Stressybetty · 22/02/2026 13:38

Finished season 1 of Severance last night on 4k disk. Amazing, I loved it!
Promptly signed up for an Apple TV subscription for season 2!
Also want to see Pluribus as we loved Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
And Silo, I read the books by Hugh Howey years ago and loved them so be interesting to see what the series a
is like.

DH said we didn't need Apple as we have plenty of things to watch then spent 10 mins looking at the menu for war films and put one on 😂 (Tom Hanks Greyhound)

martha79 · 22/02/2026 13:43

You're very right about friendship @MewithME - things have to alter, at least for a while. I'm very much in the initial stages of figuring all this out and I do get that the situation is frustrating for other people too.

Lovely hearing all your holiday plans. I haven't been abroad since 2019 and I'm not sure I'm actually that bothered, but would be nice to get back to UK weekends away. I live about as far from the sea as you can get, but seeing it always makes me feel better!

Spent a bit of time sitting in the garden but it's windier than I thought. Daffodils, crocuses and primroses are out. I can't bring daffs inside sadly as the cats try to eat them.

Agree about smells being cheering too - I've got a couple of the Wild refillable hand washes on the go and they smell lovely.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 22/02/2026 13:46

If you like watching something a bit quirky, try Evil - 4 seasons worth of episodes. We really enjoyed it.

We last went abroad in 2016 for our 25th wedding anniversary. Tuscany. Went in October so still warm but not packed with tourists. It was lovely.

Swanhilde · 22/02/2026 13:50

Look what came out while we were away! 🌺

Bought it on sale after Christmas, I get one every year as they cheer up March. Anyone ever managed to get one to flower again? All I ever get is leaves in the second year ...

Thread 6? Good grief..what are you up to today if you have chronic illness?

An amaryllis 😁

TodayIsatrickyone · 22/02/2026 14:02

Ahh beautiful @ Swanhilde! It’s an amaryllis @MewithME that you grow indoors from a bulb. I used to grow them every year wirh my class when I was a teacher as they grow so quickly and the kids liked to see how much it had grown. I’ve never had one flower a second year either but I’m not especially green fingered really!

TodayIsatrickyone · 22/02/2026 14:32

I think it would be good to book your trip if you’ve been there before @MewithME Familiarity with a place takes a little bit of stress off going on holiday I find if I know I’ve been before and coped!

We’ve done a couple of cruises before partly to avoid airports as were not too far off the port so can be in my cabin and lying down resting again in the time it would take just checking in/ waiting at the airport.
We actually have one booked for this summer to celebrate a big birthday for DH and end of exams for DD before she likely heads off to uni in Sept and won’t want to come with us anymore! We had to book it 2 years in advance to secure an adapted cabin which enables me to take my mobility scooter, so I’d put it out of my mind. Now it’s getting closer I’m a bit nervous tbh and hoping I’ll cope as it’s a big ship but I’ll hopefully start to look forward to it soon instead!

The Norwegian fjords was our first cruise and is by far my favourite I’ve done, I didn’t really get off the ship much tbh as my ME wasn't great back then but the scenery from my balcony was fabulous and I just loved sitting there looking out. I used room service a lot to avoid busy restaurants and my family helped me find some quieter spots on the ship!

JewelleryCat · 22/02/2026 14:35

@TodayIsatrickyone my handwash is Baylis and Harding. I know some people think they’re naff but I really like it

CoffeeBeansGalore · 22/02/2026 14:42

@TodayIsatrickyone that cruise sounds lovely.
