Tell me your lifestyle creeps

NOT a goady thread - meant as lighthearted fun!
If you earn well now tell me what your lifestyle creeps are? Those nice little extras that you yourself might have rolled your eyes at or have never entertained previously! Even better if you tell us the ones that aren’t worth it!

mine below:

Marks and Spencer for the food shop
Fancy makeup brands - not sure these are value for the money but I’m a SUCKER for the packaging!
Cashmere or silk socks - WORTH it!
High thread count bedding
Expensive skin care - genuinely think has made a difference 🤞

Better bread
Natural fibre clothing
Rocks squash (love a pint of it freezing cold)
Real butter
Fancy non toxic cleaning products
100% cotton bedding
Organic fruit

princesspadam · 13/02/2026 12:56

Business class flights
expensive make up & skin care

both worth it IMHO

Poppy61 · 13/02/2026 13:01

Going back to the butcher. No more supermarket meat or chicken

Dropsanddangles · 13/02/2026 13:03

This is a lovely thread OP. I like the idea of people pampering themselves with special treats. For me it’s the fancy David Lloyd’s membership that my son talked me into. I go there mostly for the spa. At the end of a stressful week at work, I love to unwind in the steam, sauna and jacuzzi. Occasionally I will work out but just the thought of going into the sauna, relaxes me!

ChaToilLeam · 13/02/2026 13:06

Good quality high welfare meat
Mid-price skincare - not super expensive but also not the cheapest (Vichy, La Roche Posay, Aveeno etc)
Natural fibre clothing

LifeBeginsToday · 13/02/2026 13:09

A bigger house. Doubled the mortgage.

1-1 singing lessons. I always wanted to learn to sing and now spend £80pm on lessons.

Branded clothes and handbags. I have several Ralph Lauren dresses because I bought one for a special occasion, loved the cut and fit so bought it in different prints. A mulberry handbag which is understated and goes with absolutely everything.

MakeYourOwnSunshine · 13/02/2026 13:10

Train instead of bus, even though it's double the price.

Sparklingwaterornothing · 13/02/2026 13:12

Loving all the responses for the natural fibre clothing! Just feels so much better
another vote for going back to the butcher!

Horse riding for DD
Much bigger house than we need but I love it

I am very frugal in lots of areas though

Harrietsaunt · 13/02/2026 13:14

Natural fibre bedding and clothing. No more polyester.

Business class flights and/or best lounges available. Naice hotels.

Decent hand cream

Got rid of all my shitty clay mugs and only drink out of fine China mugs now dontcha know. 😆

Just about to book a private appointment with MSK consultant rather than waiting months on NHS. That’s probably the best treat.

I still drive a twelve year old Fiesta though!

ThiagoJones · 13/02/2026 13:14

Quality high welfare meat for me too. And farm shop veg rather than supermarket (although to be fair it’s often cheaper).
Independent school.

Would you say the bigger house has increased your happiness by a lot?
We’re extremely blessed to be mortgage free! 3 bed terrace in a nice area, weighing up the pros and cons of getting something bigger. Only one DC though so seems like a waste!

interested in the mulberry! I was drawn to this brand, only to be told on here it was boring and ‘past it’ 😂 not sure why I listened!!

Agree on expensive skincare and makeup. Mine was probably beauty treatments that I could get without having to save for a few months, now if I want a massage or facial I can just go rather than planning.

The biggest one was probably my ‘fun’ car. We have a family car which I love, but my extremely impractical two seater convertible that I can only use when at least 3 out of 4 of my family members aren’t coming with me is possibly the love of my life (sorry DH)

It was absolutely life changing. Our house is far too big for our "needs" but I love it and love coming home.

People here can be snobs. Mulberry is great for handbags. Comparing it to my Radleys, the quality is a whole next level (as it should be for the price difference).

Tonissister · 13/02/2026 13:19

All knitwear is now cashmere.

When I go for a meal with family I always pay for everyone, even though my DC and their cousins are all adults - many of them earning far more than i ever have. But I can afford it now, so I do.

That's it, pretty much. I'm not that materialistic. Maybe less so than in my twenties, when I'd gladly go without food rather than go with out Chanel perfume! Grin

AnneElliott · 13/02/2026 13:19

M&S for the food shop - think it’s definitely worth it (although am biased as I used to work there).
A cleaner - my mum is still horrified that I have someone else clean the loo.
skincare - agree it makes a difference

LOVE the fancy mugs for you ❤️ I treated myself to a wedgewood one and haven’t looked back DH can’t have one though as he smashes everything! (Not sorry!🤣)

I won’t give up my 10 year old Polo! Can’t take the stress of a fancy car 😂

Private dentist. I literally don't know what would have happened to my teeth without it.

Taxis/Uber to everywhere. Not that I go far as I can't really afford a journey of more than about 20 quid each way. So not very often. And I'm too scared to go to unfamiliar places.

Funnys · 13/02/2026 13:21

paying for DS1 to go to uni without worrying about the cost, shopping in waitrose and buying a new car rather than trying to get the last few years out of an 18yo Audi!

and yes to the taking everyone out for dinner and not worrying about the bill. I really like that one!

NutButterOnToast · 13/02/2026 13:26

£80 a month for someone to come and trim the hedges and weed and mow the lawn at the front.

Honestly an absolute bargain. I LOATHE gardening and now we have a front yard that looks nice all the time.

The back is still a disaster tbh but at least only we see it!

Talkingtomyhouseplants · 13/02/2026 13:27

Fresh pasta - started off as a treat and now it is just what we buy. I veered into taste the difference fresh pasta the other week and promptly told myself that needed to stop right away.

The food we eat in general though

Bunnycat101 · 13/02/2026 13:34

Hotels. When I was young and travelling I was quite happy to use a hostel. I just wouldn’t now and my ‘floor’ is a premier inn.

A car with an automatic hand-break. I’ve got a hire car at the moment while my normal car is in the garage and I really hate using a handbrake now. I can’t wait to get my normal car back.

I don’t think some of my more extravagant purchases have been worth it. I’ve got fancy handbags I don’t use and have some ancient jumpers etc. I’m not so bothered by stuff.

ElizabethVonArnim · 13/02/2026 13:37

I have my hair done at the hairdresser now. It’s an eye-wateringly expensive creep though.
