We are off to Paris to celebrate. He’s never been on a plane. He’s so excited. Time is a thief. 10 years. Bloody hell.

Thank you! I am sitting here stunned that 10 years have passed. I am all packed ready to go, we leave at 9.

Have a fantastic time! I have a nearly 10 year old too and cannot believe how quickly it’s gone.

ADHDFocusedLife · 11/02/2026 05:27

Sounds like you’re reflecting on a big milestone 10 years gone by fast, and now an exciting first time experience with Paris and flying.

I want those times back. I want to go back when he was 4 and the I love you mummy were given so randomly. Now it’s so carefully given that it feels a huge privilege to receive them! Hope you also have a great day planned for yours.

Yes I am and it feels like time has gone so fast. If only I could pause those fantastic times we have had. I am excited but I am equally looking forward to what the tween and teen years hold. At the core of it, I really hope he has a great time and don’t feel disappointed. His siblings are very excited.

I often sit looking at photos and reminiscing, wishing I could back for a day or just freeze time!

No I took leave from school. I asked permission from the headteacher two weeks ago.

Me too! Love their childhood, so free, unassuming and innocent.

Cherish these moments they really do fly by. Here’s to fun memories now and wonderful tween and teen years ahead for him!

Mymanyellow · 11/02/2026 06:38

Have a fantastic time. Wish your son happy birthday from a stranger on the internet.
My son is 40 this year. Where the hell has that gone.

FrozenFebruary · 11/02/2026 06:44

Hope you all have a fantastic time!!

the next 10 go just as quickly & you'll even miss those (trying) teen years too when they're older.

And I really hope they didn't give it to you

@FrozenFebruaryyup. As many people will tell you, kids have very long school holidays

My god, what a loser 🙄 Only in England would this be an issue btw, and it’s proven that this rigid approach doesn’t lead to better educational outcomes for children, just something for schools to get their knickers in a twist over.

OP, have the most fabulous time, I know 10 is so big, but you’ve many years ahead to make memories with your boy so enjoy! And Happy Birthday to your DS 🥳

Thank you so much. He woke up and said mummy I am double digit now! We made a video last night on his last day of being single digit and he was like I can’t wait to be older!

Have a lovely day.

Hopefully you can take him on Eurostar at some point soon, as I bet he would enjoy that.

Thank you and don’t worry about it. It’s to be expected after being on MN for 11 years.
I value yours and Frozen support. I just don’t want to dampen the mood in my household.
I have booked the cruise along the river Seine and the big open bus. We are back on Valentine’s night and my husband has a surprise. After 25 years of marriage, I have lost the romance but my husband is still stuck in those romantic days!!

Thank you and I did propose one way coming back on the Euro but he refused and said he’s done enough of London Underground!

He wants to try the snail! The youngest who’s 4 and will be 5 in May thinks as the older one is getting a special day, he can also have a special day so he seem to think he can have a penguin and a panda to live under his bed on his birthday!
