Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

Good morning from dd's uni accommodation bed again! We've only been up an hour 💤 after walking miles yesterday. She's just made me a cuppa, so I'll drink that then shower and pack.

There are no trains going my way from Kings Cross today, so we're off via Birmingham. Dd's coming that far for the ride 🤣.

I haven't heard from dd2 yet so no idea what she's up to. She did lots of revision yesterday though.

When I get in, I'll probably shower, read for an hour, and get an early night ready for the last week of half term.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning. DH brought coffee and toast to bed which was very welcome as I had one too many gins last night. I’ve got showered and cleaned downstairs and put a wash on. Now on bed with a cuppa trying to decide what to do today. DH is taking the boys to see his mum when she is home from church so I will get some time to myself which I am really looking forward to. Might go for a walk later on, or take the kids to soft play. Can’t decide what I fancy. I didn’t get the stuff to do a roast in this week so not sure what’s for dinner. Possibly steak. Hope you all have a lovely day!

rickyrickygrimes · 08/02/2026 10:59

Currently doing a bit of life admin with DH - we have A LOT going on at the moment due to teenage children / ageing parents / living abroad / approaching retirement / ill-health, disability and work issues. Life is complicated atm. And where we live bureaucracy is very very complicated and time consuming.

Then he is going to a pilates class / sauna and I'm going for a walk in the sunshine with my friend, then we'll go and see Hamnet together at the cinema. She's a great sounding-board so I"m looking forward to getting it all off my chest.

Then roast dinner in the evening and catching up on the Winter Olympics.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 08/02/2026 11:00

Good morning Lucysmam and others. Hurray! I thought I'd missed you. That's a nuisance about the trains.
I've had two coffees then a trip to Aldi then a croissant with jam and a cuppa. I've watered all the house plants too. Currently I'm having a lie down before my marathon cooking spree. Lentil soup, a roasted gammon and cauliflower cheese. Lunch will be soup which dd gave me yesterday. I've been a bit meh, so I'm glad to be recovering. Lots of winter Olympics on the cards for later. Enjoy your day

Thebeehiveflys · 08/02/2026 11:01

We are going for a walk to see the huge carpet of snowdrops in our local woods, after that I’d like to carry on to drive to the sea for a bite to eat in a cheap cafe if anything is open, maybe pop into the amusements for a game of bingo.
Back later to do a roastie and slide into the evening by ironing, doing some of my colouring pages and see if there’s a good drama on TV, if not then I’ll watch some of Themepark worldwide on YouTube!

Barrenfieldoffucks · 08/02/2026 11:02

Dd (15) took the day off training yesterday to revise and go to her boyfriend's house so she is training this morning, DH is helping out. They left about 0700 so hopefully back within the hour. The boys and I are chilling at home, they're still in pjs alternating between playing on VR and watching people play on VR on YouTube 🙄

Will go for a swim this afternoon, then roast.

maddiemookins16mum · 08/02/2026 11:05

Currently on my 2nd coffee waiting for the washing machine to finish. Then I’ll set Alexa for an hour and do all my jobs in that time. We have people coming for a Sunday Roast from 3pm, Lemon/garlic chicken, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, carrots, sprouts and stuffing. Bakewell pudding and custard for afters. Probably do some painting later (a new hobby of mine and really enjoying it).

gingercat02 · 08/02/2026 11:13

This is a late start for you @lucysmam, must have been a good gig!
Safe trip home and power through the last week at school.
I binned my class this morning as I had a terrible night's sleep.
Currently watching the Olympics, Lynsday Vonn has just crashed horribly with an already damaged ACL, looked awful.
Need to take DS for some new trainers which is always a challenge. I will nip to Boots for a few bits while we are at the retail park.
Need to get organised for our ski holiday at half term as I'm working all week and we need to leave early on Saturday morning. So washing the clothes we will need and organising base layers gloves socks etc
No thoughts on tea yet, but Fridays Death in Paradise catch up with DH and DS later.

Thislittlekitten · 08/02/2026 11:15

Good Morning everyone.

Had a lie in after a fab day out yesterday with friends. Feel fine today if not tired.
DH walked the dog so I went and picked up rolls and bacon. Having them in bed now while mumsnetting.

Today I must do a general tidy. Put some clothes on vinted and usual uniforms ect, oh and need a shop. For now I’ll just relax for a bit.

We go away next week so must think about cosy clothes to pack. Easy pizzas for tea tonight. I have a decision to make about work too so having a wee think. Enjoy Sunday everyone.

frozendaisy · 08/02/2026 11:18

Rainbow1235 · 08/02/2026 11:20

Good morning lucysmam and to u all I’m sat having a cuppa dinner is all prepped and we got 10 for dinner today including 3 under 6 so that will be manic 🤔then once they go have to pop to friends as he’s 60 today . Also we find out today weather grandchild no 6 is boy or girl I’m secretly hoping boy as he will be named Dougie after my dad but as long as it’s healthy il be happy . Have a great and safe day all 🫶

Dontlletmedownbruce · 08/02/2026 11:20

Good morning! Had a massive family gathering at my house yesterday. We had catering but there was so much prep, I was busy all week organising stuff. I was a bit stressed beforehand but pulled it off and it was a lovely day. today we will be eating leftovers and gradually rearranging our house. I've just swept and mopped. Dishwasher on its 5th cycle! Some guests helped out a lot last night so there is very little clean up. Somewhere in the middle of all the madness yesterday, DD got her first period. She handled it so well. I'm feeling so proud of her and weirdly emotional, not sure if it's real emotion or my gin hangover.

LizzybugMeeting · 08/02/2026 11:22

Hi all, I'm sure I'm not posting this in the right place. Feel free to ignore if this is weird.

. Husband hoovering ( he's better than me at this and not just because I hate the wimpiness of current hoover). So I've washed my hair and just applied these exfoliating foot socks and already starting to worry about them. How come they go up to your ankles ?.surely you wouldn't want skin this high up to be flaking away for the next four weeks ?

I hope someone reads this who can calm.my fears. A bit daunting to post in the Beauty page as I don't use any beauty items generally..

Ilovelurchers · 08/02/2026 11:24

My daughter is still in bed. I only just got up myself and still in my pyjamas!

I'm reading The Housemaid's Secret (sequel to the Housemaid, which is in cinemas at the moment ).- it's excellent. So I will carry on doing that. And maybe roast a chicken.

DD was doing sewing yesterday so not sure if she plans to continue that today. I find watching her fascinating, as she doesn't use a pattern, just cuts things out by sight. If I tried to do this the results would be disastrous! But it always seems to work out.

Have a lovely day everyone.

KurtCobainLover · 08/02/2026 11:25

Morning! I got back a women’s retreat organised by my church at 10. Had a shower (there weren’t any there that weren’t grim!). Now relaxing on the sofa before going for a walk with friend at 1pm then my boyfriend is coming over.

zingally · 08/02/2026 11:30

Just had the jehovahs knock on the door for the second time this weekend!

Not had them round at all (that I know of) in the 17 months of living here, so they must be having a bit of a recruitment drive locally. It was 2 kids yesterday, a little girl of about 9 and an older boy who looked about 15 - so I was fairly polite to them. But today was a lone man. I almost immediately clocked the leaflets in his hand, "Not interested!" and shut the door.

I see them every weekend, because they set up very near my local supermarket. Never see anyone stop to talk to them.

Nothing planned for the day. I need to have a little tidy round the downstairs, as I've got a friend coming round tomorrow for coffee. Want to do a good hoover and a mop of the hard floors.
Will probably watch some more of the winter olympics, and thought I might try that new series of Lord of the Flies that the BBC have just released.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 08/02/2026 11:42

Good morning folks - Happy Sunday to @lucysmam & everyone. A productive day for me so far. Soaking 3 bras, tumble drying a load of laundry & the kitchen towel, washing DH’s cycle bib, doing the dishwasher & peeling spuds for mash. I’m gearing up to mopping the kitchen floor which is muddy, especially near the French doors where the bunnies come in. It’s raining here in Cornwall. Honestly feels like it will never stop! I’m an optimist but it does get me down at times. We have had some sun since New Year ☀️☀️☀️ More please! Determined to get out & explore this beautiful county. So many stunning places right on my doorstep or not far away. Not much planned for today. Taking a couple of items to the In Post locker for Vinted (DH is about to wrap the 2nd one as it’s an awkward shape) & I need to order more self sealing bags from Amazon. Popping over to see DF & DM this afternoon. Their situation is becoming more & more of a worry. DBro is away atm & I need to have a good chat with him when he gets back. DD17 is stinking the house out again with her acrylics - she doesn’t know it yet but we’re putting a stop to that as it’s toxic. Tea is Pieminister steak & ale pies with aforementioned mash, peas & gravy. We will watch Call The Midwife & The Good Doctor.

Zippedydodah · 08/02/2026 11:58

It’s a just about good morning from me!
Dogs had a walk before the rain resumed falling, the ironing is done, kitchen tidied and lamb shanks in red wine in the oven. We’ll have mash and broccoli with apple pie to finish.
As usual DH has gone to the village for his weekly gossip, I’ve asked him to get me a paper and ham from the posh village post office, don’t know if he’ll remember or not, he didn’t seem to know what ham is 😬😵‍💫🙁There’s definitely something cognitive going on but he refuses to go to the doctor and gets very arsey if I try to persuade him so nothing I can do.
The log burner is lit and I’m about to watch Landscape Artist of the Year in peace and quiet while doing my crochet.
Hoping for a quiet afternoon and evening, little to do except another dog walk.

Zippedydodah · 08/02/2026 12:01

Hi @LizzybugMeeting , when I used them most of the peeling was on the bottom of my feet, slightly on the top but didn’t come up to my ankles at all.

LizzybugMeeting · 08/02/2026 12:21

@Zippedydodah , thanks for your message.

I've removed the bags and washed it all off and now the waiting commences. Perhaps it just affects the skin wherever it's thickest so wouldn't bother the ankle area. I've pretty much given up wearing anything besides jeans these days so shouldn't be visible in any case.

Your dinner sounds delish !

DilemmaDelilah · 08/02/2026 12:28

Good afternoon @lucysmam and everyone. I woke up at 9.30, after being awake for 3 hours in the wee small hours, and I looked for you then but you had a late morning as well!

Yesterday's birthday lunch for Mr Dilemma went well. I had made a HUGE cottage pie, thinking most of it would get eaten, but we have half of it left so that is what we will be eating for the next couple of days.... no hardship for me as I love cottage pie 😋.

I bought a Morrisons Too Good to Go bag around 4am this morning, thinking that we wouldn't start to go out for it until after the collection time so if it was cancelled at the last minute it wouldn't matter. We waited until 11.10 (collection time is from 11.00) and there was no cancellation, but as we were pulling into Morrisons car park (it's a 20 minute journey) I got the cancellation. I am not a happy bunny! We had a little wander round the shop and were now in the cafe waiting for our lunch.

We have nothing planned for the rest of the day except laundry. My daughter took hers home yesterday after lunch, so we have a brief spell until we get the next loads... probably this evening when Mr Dilemma drops chorister grandson home after evensong.

Mr Dilemma got a mini fridge and a coffee machine for his bedroom for his birthday, so I expect he will set those up this afternoon. So he can have a nice cup of coffee when he wakes up without having to go downstairs.

AtYourPleasure · 08/02/2026 12:36

Afternoon all. I had a lie-in and late small brekkie (10ish). Tidied the kitchen, sorted the recycling.

Meeting a friend for lunch soon. Then home to sort clothes for the week ahead. Read for a bit, quick walk as its currently stopped raining but set to start again and watch a bit of telly... then an early night.

Simonjt · 08/02/2026 12:38

‘Morning’, we’re switching our bedroom and our sons round today. Upstairs we have three bedrooms and a study, but bedroom three is very small. Downstairs we have a bedroom with an en-suite. Our son has that at the moment as our daughter was too little to go downstairs at night. Now she’s older we’re switching, so today I’m swapping all the furniture, clothes etc between the two so we’ll be downstairs.

We’re going to be lazy and eat out for lunch today instead of eating at home.

Have a nice sunday all

JingsMahBucket · 08/02/2026 12:39

Morning / early afternoon everyone. I haven’t joined one of these threads in a while. We’ve just had breakfast and I’m about to go have a @lucysmam’s scrubby shower to exfoliate ALL the things!

Afterward I’ll do a bit of grocery shopping then head back home for a little bit of work then doing a base clean of the toilets and kitchen. It feels like it’s time to do another winter wool wash actually so a few loads of sweaters will go through the wash today.

Last night we started rewatching Broadchurch from the beginning and got though the end of season 1, episode 4. We’ll probably take that up again tonight after dinner. Dinner is likely to be a Hello Fresh hoisin pork tacos recipe but we might switch it up. Have a good day everyone!

LizzybugMeeting · 08/02/2026 12:42

@AtYourPleasure can I ask how you sort clothes for the week please? Is this children's clothes ? I need to get myself organised so maybe you can give me some tips ..( No kids here now ).

Peridot1 · 08/02/2026 13:14

Good afternoon all.

Did you get your DMs @lucysmam?

I have been busy this morning. Did dishwasher emptying and a jeans wash. Cooked some sausage rolls from the freezer for breakfast. Had a quick chat with my friend in Sydney. A very quick one as I am flying there on Tuesday. Can’t wait! Then I took our new car out for a drive to Next to return some jeans. Came back and put more washing on. DH was making bacon sandwiches for him and DS and I got him to do a couple of bits for me and I had a yummy BLT wrap with some chilli mayonnaise.

Was just sitting with a cuppa and DS asked me to take him out for a drive in the new car. He’d love to be able to drive it but too expensive to insure him on it yet. Maybe in the summer when he turns 25.

Just having my delayed cuppa and about to hang up the washing. Then we are going to finally put all the Christmas decorations into the loft along with the suitcases I’m not taking to Oz.

Also need to strip DS’s bed and wash the bedding. And start my packing list.

Steak for dinner. And tv and an early night.
