There’s a difference between arguing and debating. People that argue on here about pathetic, unimportant things clearly don’t have a lot going on other than MN..but a good debate about an important issue is good for your brain, helps you think critically, see things from a different perspective, learn about new issues, and helps you express yourself better IRL

I delete mine every so often, it's a fresh start with a new email, I don't post much anyway.

This is a pretty shitty thing to post tbh. If you want to go, go. No need to try to maximise damage to the site in the process.

Flouncers’ corner

I kind of view coming on here as a chat ( often hostile not of my choosing) while I have a cup of tea. Real meaningful chat is for the real world.

I deleted mine a few months ago, because I was fed up of the racism and the disinformation, and I felt that MNHQ wasn't moderating effectively enough.

But I missed it so I came back.

I still don't think the moderation works as it should, but I have decided to live with it for now and accept it for what it is.

I think people often need to understand the full extent of the site, not just go to Active and AIBU. I’ve got my favourite topics set up and go to those, avoiding stuff that has no interest or relevance to me but occasionally checking the full list to see if I’m missing anything new. When I first joined MN (22 years ago) I almost only used the Special Needs section but I have barely looked at it in the last few years. A lot of people on here are very funny, e.g. last night’s Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony, the old X Factor threads. And if anyone disagrees with me I will argue with them

I’ve been on here over 10 years, have never used it to argue. Have read some amazing inspiring threads, EMIN is one that springs to mind amongst others. Probably best to delete yours op though if you use it to argue.

I don't really argue, despite the women that lay in wait ready to pounce and reply with their snarky comments. I tend to come on after a couple of Prosecco or as I am unwinding with a glass of wine. Sometimes you can hear the clatter of pearl clutching... It's a time waster... It's amusing... I don't take the online stuff seriously... it's not real life.

my account is probably 17 years old - during those years there have been many years of inactivity. But sometimes i wonder about something, and i think Ah! Someone on MN might know the answer to this and very iften they do.
i have a few threads i enjoy for fun like “what are you wearing today” or supportive ones like the WLIs - i am not interested in AIBU or in any drama and i steer clear from arguments. Its great 😊

I never believe that people who are narcissist enough to start these threads don't lurk around to see what people are saying. So hi @GetTrumpArrested 👋.

I've picked up some good links, given advice I've been thanked for, laughed out loud at some brilliant stories and comments, cringed at embarrassing episodes, learnt a great deal about human nature. If the site gets bought, laden with requests, adverts that encite me to silent screaming, then it will leave my phone, as so many other forums/ sites have. Today it stays, tomorrow who knows.
