Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

Good morning from dd1's uni accommodation bed! Dd's just gone to make my first cuppa before we start moving for the day - we were at a gig last night so awake a little later than usual. I haven't heard from dd2 yet.

I have big plans for the day - dd is less enthusiastic 🤣. I saw a stationers in Westminster, on Tiktok, so want to head there first...then a stop off to see Buckingham Palace...and Oxford St for the Dr Martens shop. I've saved my Vinted earnings for the past year to buy a pair so am going to take advantage of dd's student discount. All on the Jubilee line from here so should be do-able (but busy).

Later on, dd wants to head the opposite way In Wembley for Savers and, I think, Iceland, for a few frozen items. I'll do her a shop at Asda before leaving she doesn't need loads.

We're heading to Nando's for tea, unless something takes our fancy while we're out. And I'm not sure what we're doing with the rest of the evening 🤷‍♀️.

I'll find out what dd2's up to with her dad when I speak to her. I suggested they go out for tea or the cinema the other night but neither seemed thrilled at the idea. I suspect she'll want to stay in and revise for her upcoming mocks.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning lucysmam and others. How nice to spend time with your dd1. Enjoy.

I've been under the weather most of the week. Nothing major but feeling seedy and tired. Yesterday I slept which meant last night I didn't 🙄.
I'm going to get some housework done today then babysit the boys for a couple of hours later. Dinner will be soup, I think. Enjoy your day

frozendaisy · 07/02/2026 10:01

Morning morning
Student digs well done mummy! Clearly a step down from kitchen spot but needs must
We love a day wondering in London hope the Dr Marten shop provides your perfect pair (are you going bright pink type thing?)

The house is currently quiet as football field is a pond basically so that’s out! Never fear there’s always football on tv to save the day

I am drinking coffee wondering if the washing machine will make it through the weekend (new one arriving Tuesday as explained to H it’s not if it explodes it’s when) you can hear the bearings going and as we are now responsible grown-ups with teenage sweaty boys we could do without running up and down the road to our two neighbours who would do loads for us, no we are more grown up than that. So school darks, shirts, one handwash, and if we can squeeze one more general wash (last on list) that should do!

Eldest needs to do a pure maths session this morning, youngster can do what he likes, additional teen around lunchtime, we are going to do some research on gyms they might like to join, Mexican buffet and a tv session if the goes wrong show

School darks in! I can but hope

DilemmaDelilah · 07/02/2026 10:03

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I've been busy this morning! We are celebrating Mr Dilemma's birthday today with family lunch. Everything is made and ready, he is having cottage pie with 3 veg, followed by a caramel fudge cake with what is meant to be a mars bar ganache. All his choice. Don't try to make mars bar ganache... It doesn't work! I had to rescue it late last night by the addition of a melted bar of no sugar plain chocolate. I prepared all the veg yesterday and did a HUGE quantity of mashed potatoes for the pie, and the tasty mince was made last week and kept in the freezer, so apart from actually cooking the veg and heating the pie thoroughly there is nothing to do food-wise. I also laid the table yesterday.

So - this morning I have cleaned the family and downstairs bathrooms and the kitchen and folded the dry laundry for Mr Dilemma to take back to my daughter when he goes to pick them all up for lunch.

I am now sitting down with a nice cup of coffee scrolling through mumsnet😁, thinking about what else needs doing.

The dishwasher has just finished and needs emptying, when the little bit of washing up we have left can go in. The drainer needs emptying of the hand dish washing I have just done. I can see fingermarks on our glass coffee table so that needs cleaning. That's about it I think!

Everyone will arrive shortly before 1pm and lunch will be served promptly at 1pm. We will have a lovely few hours with the family, my grandsons will clear the table, Mr Dilemma will take them home while I clear up in the kitchen and the rest of the day will be spent recovering! It's lucky I am well today 😁

Good morning @lucysmam @LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand and everyone else to follow, it’s wet here and we’re back from a muddy dog walk so ZDog2 is about to have a bath. Just having a coffee then I’ll lug her up the stairs and into the bath.
Then it’s tidying up, getting the rest of the washing done before an early afternoon meeting at the playground to discuss the prooosed plans. Somehow I have volunteered to do some fund raising, I’m happy to write begging letters to local businesses but I won’t be doing raffles or anything else.
It’s frustrating that the only people involved are me (retired), a Parish Councillor, and one mum.
At least half of the residents are families with young children or teenagers, they moan about nothing for the children but do sweet fa to help solve the problem!
Anyway, jacket potatoes with something for dinner, I might make some coleslaw, I have red cabbage and carrots.
Enjoy your weekend in London @lucysmam !

Sunnysidegold · 07/02/2026 10:09

I am having a lazy morning while kids at football with my husband so I'm in bed with the dog and cat curled up beside me and a coffee and kindle on the nightstand.

First day of half term for me and I think today is a cleaning house day. I always think I'll get it done later in the week but never managed it and the. Feel guilty for wasting time.

I got a new hoover this week (exciting!) so I'm testing it out to see how pet hair it shifts. Then I'm going to make a stew to throw in the oven for later.

Help ds2 clean out the gerbil later and sort some. Washing. It's nice knowing I don't have to rush this weekend.

Going to catch up on the night manage to night with DH.

Kim82 · 07/02/2026 10:23

Good morning everyone. It’s the usual Saturday here - dh at work so just me and dd11 in. Dd11 got up about 10 minutes ago and is wrapped up in a blanket on the sofa. I’ve been busy this morning, I woke up feeling really motivated and have already tidied the house, dusted everywhere, cleaned the upstairs bathroom and I’m showered and dressed. I got a head start on the washing last night so just have one more load of towels to do once the load currently in has finished.

I’m having a little break and a cup of tea as I’m waiting for my Tesco delivery which is due any minute then I’ll wipe over the kitchen, clean the downstairs bathroom and hoover and mop throughout the house.

This afternoon I need to nip to Aldi to pick up a specific pizza that I like and to Asda for a bottle of wine. Then dd is having a friend round for a sleepover. I’m taking them to the trampoline park and McDonald for tea afterwards, back home where dh will have already gone to meet his friend at the pub, dd11 and her friend will disappear upstairs and I’m having a much needed solo evening. The plan is a long shower, fresh pjs, pizza, a share bag of walkers sensations and numerous glasses of wine whilst sprawled on the sofa under a blanket watching true crime documentaries (any recommendations would be gratefully received). The house will be spotless, I’ll light a couple of candles and just relax. Heaven!

justtheotheronemrswembley · 07/02/2026 10:26

Laundry.

We're having chilli con carne for dinner. I made a massive one the other week, and froze some in portions, so that needs to come out and thaw.

DH is going for a walk this morning to go and see his mate in the next village.

That's about as exciting as it gets for us today.

zingally · 07/02/2026 10:27

Planning on having a lovely chilled weekend here.

Had some unexpected stress last Sunday, which completely ruined the day, so hoping to make up for it this weekend, with nothing more than slobbing in front of the telly, watching a mixture of Netflix and the winter olympics.

Pie and mash for tea tonight, with tons of gravy. Delicious!

daffodilandtulip · 07/02/2026 10:31

Ah that sounds like a lovely weekend. I've popped to DD for a shopping day or a concert before, but like hell would she let me stay over and interfere with her life 😂

After a fraught few week, DS has gone to see his dad. A bit anxious about that as he's done it under protest, but I can't lie that I'm glad to be alone for a day.

I plan to sew and read. Started a new book yesterday and got a Simple Things subscription for Christmas, and the Feb one just arrived. I realise I sound about 105.

The rain and wind is awful, and I have a dog who acts like she'll melt in such weather so no morning walk for us today.

I've just made egg muffins for breakfast, and I'm planning what we call student cottage pie for tea. Beans base, mash potato, cheese on top. One of my favourites!

Thislittlekitten · 07/02/2026 10:43

Morning all

Im waiting for friends. We are heading to another city for a day out. Can’t wait though hope it’s drier. Feels like we have had nothing but rain for weeks.

Looking forward to some nice food and drinks and in good company. Enjoy your Saturday everyone.

Lifejigsaw · 07/02/2026 10:43

Good morning everyone. I’m still in bed 🫣 lying here trying to chose a pint colour for my room based on the 1000 samples on the walls.

will get up in a moment and head downstairs for tea and a bagel. I’m having a lazy house day today so will clean a bit and get the house looking/smelling nice, then do a meal plan and shop, and maybe start painting the hallway with Netflix on.

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 07/02/2026 10:54

Sounds fun! Today I have some lessons to teach - poor kids doing maths on a Saturday, sucks to be them! Then later we are taking the kids to my dad’s for a sleep over. They are very excited because he’s just got a massive TV and he will probably feed them loads of sugar. That’s fine though because we are going out to consume large quantities of tequila for my friend’s 30th birthday at a casino. We have our designated gambling money ready to go and because we are definitely going to win big we have already decided what we will spend our fortune on.

dicentra365 · 07/02/2026 10:56

Good morning @lucysmam and all, that sounds like such a fun day, I love London.
Ive just dropped dd at the rehearsal for her school play and come home for breakfast. The weather is awful here, I can’t remember the last day it didn’t rain. I think in a bit me and dh are going to pop into town and have a mooch round the shops and go for lunch. Then I’ll come back and pick dd up from her friends later and hopefully have a catch up friends mum. In between I need to fit in some washing and cleaning. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone. I got up this morning and got everyone breakfast and did a tidy up. Got back into bed with some tea but getting up to get showered in a minute. I am taking DS3 to a birthday party today and then will do the food shop and get some nice snacks and drinks for this evening. DH is dropping DS12 to his friends and then taking DS8 to the cinema. Looking forward to everyone getting home this evening, lighting the fire and having a cosy night. I’ve had a stressful week at work so looking forward to a nice chilled weekend.

frozendaisy · 07/02/2026 11:31

School darks successfully washed and released
Shirts are in fingers crossed!

frozendaisy · 07/02/2026 11:34

lucysmam · 07/02/2026 11:22

@frozendaisy I like these ones

Not too dissimilar to the converse I bought (I don’t do heals needed a compromise formal function acceptable option)

Crunchymum · 07/02/2026 11:37

Hello all,

Love those DM's. Hope you get a lovely pair lucysmam

Your weekend sounds hectic but wonderful. I love that you and DD1 have so much fun together.

After a crazy week we're on a go slow this weekend. Swimming half done, just off for DC2's training now. Then home for lunch and I need to head out for some supplies.

This afternoon will be homework and chores, I need to get on top of the washing and ironing.

No idea about dinner. Thinking some kind of one pot chicken thigh and new potato dish. Chuck in some tomatoes, peppers, red onion, herbs with the chicken and halve the new potatoes and cook. Serve with rocket salad.

We're all tired so hoping for an early night.

BonBonDong · 07/02/2026 11:38

Morning all.

Loving those DMs. I've just ordered a pair of petrol blue on Vinted for DD. If they don't fit/ she doesn't like them, I'm having them!

Not much going on today. DH and I have walked the dog. The fire is lit and the TV is on while everyone does their own ironing in turn. Pork joint out and defrosting for a roast later to be cooked by DH. Life is good!

Happy weekend.

Rainbow1235 · 07/02/2026 11:52

morning lucysmam and to u all I’m late today as went bak to bed as cannot sleep in nights . Sounds like a fab weekend with your daughter . Not doin much today sending oh out with a list as it’s pouring with rain here but I need a few bits for dinner tomorrow and wine for later 😆. Have a great and safe day all 🫶

Peridot1 · 07/02/2026 11:57

Good morning all. Just.

Hope you get your DMs @lucysmam. They look lovely. And your London day sounds great. Might have to investigate the stationery shop….

I have been up for a while. Had tea and toast and did my puzzles. Emptied dishwasher. Then went for a shower. Just sitting with a coffee now. Debating nipping to the post office in town with a return. Then we are going to collect our new car this afternoon. It will be strange as we have had the current one for over 15 years. It’s done well!

So that will take up most of the afternoon as it’s half an hour away and lots of paperwork to be signed no doubt.

Might do a small bit of ironing when we get back and then it’s chicken for dinner with roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese and some roast veg. With wine and then TV. DH and I are watching My Kitchen Rules Australia.

I should also do some washing. And a quick wipe of bathrooms but that might end up being tomorrow.

mamaduckbone · 07/02/2026 12:39

Happy Saturday @lucysmamand all - I hope you manage to get everything done on your London list.
Morning trot was abandoned due to hideous weather and ds2’s rugby is also cancelled so made the most of it with a lie in and a read and cuppa in bed. Dh and I have shower hopped to do a few jobs in town and had a coffee, then we’ve done a half hour house blitz as we have visitors tomorrow.
This afternoon will be some marking and planning for me, 6 nations on the TV, fire lit and burgers for dinner. It’s too wet and miserable to do much else so am embracing hibernation. I might also make a cake ready for tomorrow.

StuffyHuffyPuffy · 07/02/2026 12:54

Have a great day with your DD! My biggest wish is to see my children live in their own accomodations.. and visit! I recall when my mum visited me at uni, suddenly I felt responsible for entertaining her. Dynamics had shifted. We became friends.

I'm sitting here with my first coffee of the day. We've ferried DS2 to his swimming session, and now it's time to rest before DS1 goes to his session. During that, DH has decided we will go snoop on an area we might buy a house in next. It's not far from home, but we'd love to upgrade. That should be fun on a wet, grey day like this.

ETA; with my coffee, I have the Women's Skiathlon on. I love a bit of Olympics fever on a cold day like this.

frozendaisy · 07/02/2026 13:15

School shirts have been washed and released!

Thrill a minute here 😁
