From The Times. He’s just a guy who’s had some bad luck after all!

How embarrassing for the poor dog being photographed with that person.

EasternStandard · 06/02/2026 16:24

Crikey he’s got some strident PR team, he must be paying a lot.
As his properties are searched by police for evidence.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 06/02/2026 16:38

Is that actually a real article? I can't see it on the Times app, but I see it has tomorrow's date on it?

napody · 06/02/2026 16:40

Nah... thats clearly an AI spoof.

Is it this article?

Peter Mandelson: Epstein is like dog muck; the smell won’t go away

https://www.thetimes.com/article/22e676b1-3121-4bb9-99cd-e8facf76f5b7?shareToken=f2319efd8c2b1e3a70ab9dc3b392f7bf

If so the author had been trying to interview him for months and ended up meeting him before the main recent allegations came out and then again after but still before the biggest leaking from Cabinet ones.

Peter Mandelson: Epstein is like dog muck; the smell won’t go away

Peter Mandelson was sacked as ambassador to the US because of his links to Jeffrey Epstein. Now, he has resigned from the Labour Party and the Lords. Is this the end for him?

Fake, right?

In any case, it’s a well-known phenomenon there’s probably a term for it. Privileged, corrupt people love to play the victim once their schemes stop working. The moment those they exploit refuse to be controlled, they cry persecution. Not being obeyed becomes abuse.

SushiSheep · 06/02/2026 16:53

I’m hoping it’s fake for the poor dog’s sake

MyNextDoorNeighbourVotesReform · 06/02/2026 16:58

Revolting treasonous cunt

I searched because I thought I’d read it. It was published in the Times last Monday - I don’t know if they’re doing it again. It is a lot less sympathetic than the headline sounds.

tobee · 06/02/2026 17:24

It's definitely genuine.

It's like he thought resigning from government over his house loan, and again with the Hinduja passport scandal, really wasn't going to make him truly infamous, really recognise his "talent", so he'd go for the U.K. scandal of the century prize with his Epstein dealings.

That dog is the most embarrassed dog I’ve seen in a while Grin… it’s trying to get out of shot… “I told you he was a wrong ‘un”

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 06/02/2026 17:38

I think you're being too harsh. Who among us can say that we haven't been forced to resign not once but twice for impropriety, and then been outright sacked for a long term personal relationship with a convicted sex trafficker? Let he who is without sin etc.

sterlingiain · 06/02/2026 18:20

I think The Times did this interview last month and it’s been updated to reflect recent events.

The comments below the post are quite special - although they seem to have paused them….its The Times Magazine insta handle, not the main site

Just had a look. Madness to go ahead with it.

It's almost certainly pre-printed. Those glossy supplements have a long lead time (period between sending to press and publication), could be 6-8 weeks.

They could have pulped the entire print run, I suppose, and done without a Saturday magazine... but they would have had to reimburse all the advertisers. And possibly the disgruntled subscribers, too, who expected a magazine.

They're pretty screwed no matter what they do!

True enough, although I suspect that given The Times Magazine's likely print readership these days (200K? It's notable that they've kept their circulation numbers secret since 2020) the lead time would probably be closer to two weeks. But either way, this story's developed too late to do anything about it.

Callurmom · 06/02/2026 20:35

Look at his Mr Bean pants omg

mathanxiety · 06/02/2026 20:40

The dog looks as if he came galumphing into the kitchen, spotted the camera and the lights, pulled up short, said, "Whoa, no way", and tried in vain to escape.

... the latter whilst being under investigation for alleged misconduct in public office.

Indeed.

PerkingFaintly · 06/02/2026 21:18

Presumably he did the interview to "get ahead of the story."

Fail.

Warmlover · 06/02/2026 23:59

The times mag has an advertising copy deadline of 5 days so it’s absolute rubbish to say it was printed 6-8 weeks in advance.

and even if this were true, then yes - the publication should take the hit rather than feature a treasonous paedo sympathetically.
