What do you pay for window cleaning?

Just got a quote for 3 bed house for £30. Never had a window cleaner before so hard to gauge if that’s a good price or not.

What do people pay?

Is that outside & inside?
I pay £10 for a 5 bed outside only

But surely you're not paying your window cleaner even the NMW.

£21 for a 4 bed. Was £19/month but when I went to quarterly it went up

I too have opted for 12 weeks in the quote as I figured I could handle an odd window if especially dirty in between although hoping I could just avert my eyes until they come 😁. And looking at the prices it is slightly more expensive than if I went for 6 weeks but overall I save money by only having it every 12.

If the window cleaner is self employed (which most are) and not an employee of OPs then they don't have to pay them nmw. The window cleaner sets the price and is responsible to pay their own tax and NI etc. it's not a nmw situation. We pay our window cleaner £5 for the front only as he can't get to the back. That's what he asked for and therefore presumably an amount at which he makes money but remains competitive.

I think it’s often worth asking the neighbours. Tend to get a cheaper quote if they are already just a few doors down. I’m rural so any quotes tack on an exhorbitant fee to get to me so I have grubby windows.

MrsMoastyToasty · 05/02/2026 07:39

She charges me £10 if she only does the front of the house, but if I'm home to let her through to the back she charges me £18. That's using a pole system.

User0311 · 05/02/2026 07:44

£10 for 4 bed detached outside only

Loveapineapplepizzame · 05/02/2026 07:55

£16.50 once a month and we have a 3 storey 4 bed semi detached house. He does it with a long pole and brush if that’s any more specific. He also has a round on our estate as I see him doing other houses so that may also influence the price.

I’ll be really honest though, I’d love one who actually did a proper ladder and sponge job!

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 05/02/2026 07:57

4 bed house with large extension, 2 sets of bi-fold doors and two sky lights, outside only front and back, Greater London zone 5, £30 every 6 weeks.

Uses the brush on a pole system. I watched my bedroom windows being cleaned (without him knowing I was there) and a really thorough job was done of windows and surrounds.

Used to have an old bloke with a ladder who just did tge front windows for £10 every 5 weeks, but he was really unreliable and didn't turn up for ages.

NotAnotherOneNC · 05/02/2026 08:00

£15, windows and frames, 4 bed semi. Old style guy up a ladder, but he definitely uses more than one bucket of water.

muddyford · 05/02/2026 08:00

£23 for 5 bedroom detached in southwest. I usually get them done every two months. Long pole method which is so-so.The company also offers gutter cleaning, from ground level with a vacuum, but again I would prefer a bloke up a ladder who can see they're clear. Several neighbours had to get theirs redone by hand.

I moved 2 years ago and had 2 quotes for cleaning the windows and sills of my 5 bedroom house. The first quote was £90 and the second was £125 (south east, Not near London ). Subsequently I have grubby windows.

They are having a laugh !

MirrorVent · 05/02/2026 08:24

£40 for a 4-bed terrace (outside only), but in one of the richest areas in the country.

HollyHoly · 05/02/2026 09:39

£30 for a large 4 bed house. South London fringes.

99pwithaflake · 05/02/2026 09:41

£12 outside only.

Solaire18381 · 05/02/2026 09:41

£12, detached house. We've paid that for at least 10 years!

They don’t spend an hour on one house though.

Sunshineclouds11 · 05/02/2026 10:13

£13, 3 bed and conservatory
NE

It is for windows and sills etc, outside only. I am in the South so expect it to be dearer but looking at some of these prices I think I need to get a few more quotes.

When they say windows and sills too they mean they waft a cloth or a hosepipe over it 🙄 tell them it’s too much and you’re going to ask around as £30 is taking the piss!!! We pay £16 for a proper window cleaner - bucket and ladders - who does a fabulous job and leaves windows nearly dried and buffed on a 5 bed house in the SE. The team with hosepipes left it more dirty than it was the first time and I complained and refused to pay! The water drips down the windows and all the water they’ve sprayed above the window then drags all the dirt down onto the window and half an hour after they have “cleaned” the windows it’s filthy!

Tallestone · 05/02/2026 10:39

We pay 13 for a 3 bed semi in Wales. With the pole and water system.

Smiling2022 · 05/02/2026 13:15

Devon - 3 bedroom house (£22) to do 8 windows, 2 doors and all windowsills using the long pole method (pure clean?)

MrsBeltane · 05/02/2026 13:48

South East, £25 for a 3 bed detached house. Outside only.

DeftGoldHedgehog · 05/02/2026 13:49

£15. 4 bed semi detached house in the South East, outside only.

BitterTits · 05/02/2026 07:23

But surely you're not paying your window cleaner even the NMW.

They are a business and charge their customers accordingly. You are not their employer and are not paying them a wage, so there is no need to worry about NMW.

Heronatemygoldfish · 05/02/2026 13:55

Midlands, £15 for outside windows of a 3-bed semi (2 of them bay).
He does a really good job too. Ladder and squeegee.
