Just got a quote for 3 bed house for £30. Never had a window cleaner before so hard to gauge if that’s a good price or not.

What do people pay?

Is that outside & inside?
I pay £10 for a 5 bed outside only

Namechangedforspooky · 04/02/2026 18:49

£30 here. It’s a 5 bed house though and 3 storeys so needs the extra long cleaning stuff

tedibear · 04/02/2026 18:51

£10 for a 5 bed detached there’s a lot of windows. Only cleans the actual windows not any of the upvc and sometimes leaves that a mess after doing the windows but for a tenner I won’t complain.

I think you need to say where you live for a realistic comparison.
4 bed detached North Yorkshire £16 outside only. £30 in my opinion is ludicrous, but again it depends where you are.

nondrinker1985 · 04/02/2026 18:55

We are in an affluent part of the Midlands and I got quoted £30 by someone used them a couple of times then paused. Now found someone for £15 and he does as good a job.

JugglingMyNuts · 04/02/2026 18:58

It is for windows and sills etc, outside only. I am in the South so expect it to be dearer but looking at some of these prices I think I need to get a few more quotes.

Coffeeishot · 04/02/2026 19:00

JamesClyman · 04/02/2026 19:40

Five bed, 3 storey Victorian semi we pay £25.

Thedogscollar · 04/02/2026 20:16

I pay £15 for a 3 bedroomed house outside plus sills we are in the south east

smileylottie87 · 04/02/2026 20:44

£35 for a 4 bed detached in the SE. They do the sills, kitchen lanterns and bifolds but not the garage.

ihatecoffee · 04/02/2026 20:59

£45 for a five bed house - outside only. Home Counties

Happyher · 04/02/2026 20:59

£4.50 pm for 3bed detached S Yorks

Amitabha · 04/02/2026 21:07

I moved 2 years ago and had 2 quotes for cleaning the windows and sills of my 5 bedroom house. The first quote was £90 and the second was £125 (south east, Not near London ). Subsequently I have grubby windows.

£4.50 pm for 3bed detached S Yorks

Wow, that's not a joke is it?

shellyleppard · 04/02/2026 21:11

£5.50 for the outside of my house, semi-detached. Lovely pair of old gents who have been doing it for 45 years!!

Lugga · 04/02/2026 21:14

How did you find the company? We found it was much cheaper when we asked a window cleaner who already had a round on the street. We pay £12 for a 4 bed detached.

Try asking your neighbours for a recommendation. SE Not London.

7238SM · 04/02/2026 21:36

I've never had one, so can't comment on price. There was a similar thread last year and I learnt a lot though.

-The older school cleaner who climbs a ladder aren't considered as good apparently. Yes, they wipe the actual window, but some people said they don't climb down the ladder to re-position it, so sometimes window corners they couldn't quite reach were missed. People also said some use the 1 bucket of water for the whole house

-The other type uses a karcher type cleaner which pumps fresh water and maybe cleaning products onto the window and they generally stand on the ground with long extension poles. 1 woman said her husband has this set up and is meticulous about the water/,mix etc.

Sorry, I'm no help but the actual type of window cleaning they do might change the price also.

£14 for a detached house with 2 x double patio doors, 2 large bay windows, and about 10 additional windows. He does the the bits under the gutter as well (forgot what they’re called!) Midlands.

No - I started with his dad 33 years ago @£2.50 then son took over about 15 years ago. I had to suggest a few year ago that he increase the price so he did to £3.50. The last year he put it up again to £4.50 - I’m expecting another increase soon!

JugglingMyNuts · 05/02/2026 07:00

This is a pole system using pure water so no drying or squeegee. Hmmm so I think I can see other people doing it the old fashioned way (ladder and squeegee) that looks cheaper but actually more bothered about the frames being done as I find they discolour if not cleaned frequently. Argghh I hate cleaning windows so was going to ‘treat’ myself to a window cleaner but looking at these prices not sure whether to find someone else.

@JugglingMyNuts
£9 for the front windows (outside) only, 6 in total.
You've made me think as I was at home when he came last week and he used the pole system but now I'm wondering how he's doing the upstairs sills which was a selling point when we took him on.
I need to have a look when it gets light 😀

3 bed detached and I pay £15 for outside windows

From what I have seen they use the pole brush to clean everything then rinse it all off by using the jets of water that squirt out. Using pure water means that when they dry in the wind no deposits and smears are left behind.

I did look at buying one and doing it myself but the pure water system needs a filter if connecting the hose pipe and it looked a faff and expensive by the time you have all the kit. I am scared of heights so no way I am getting up a ladder and my last house I didn’t need to but this one I do and I am getting too old to be contorted leaning out of an upstairs window 😆
