Looking at march/April this year for myself and my husband. We like nice views / nice food and nice wine! Am stuck on a destination but cheapest flights are the below. Can anyone tell me any they recommend / would avoid?!

Rome
Verona
Milan
Paris
Geneva

Granada or Sevilla 😁

I’m going to say Rome but that’s cause my husband took us there for our 10th wedding anniversary. You won’t regret it such a beautiful city 😍

waltzingparrot · 03/02/2026 16:31

Verona, or also Seville 😁

Jackrabbit22 · 03/02/2026 16:32

Can 100% recommend Rome. So much to see, fabulous food and great wine. Absolutely loved it!

Pringlebeak · 03/02/2026 16:32

Milan, but go up to the lakes from there. The city itself is not all that.

HollyGolightly4 · 03/02/2026 16:32

I'd go to Milan for a night or two, then take the train to Varenna at Lake Como and stay there- I think that ticks all of your boxes! (That's assuming it's a longer stay. Even if not, it's perfectly doable)

I'd also consider Rome- but I feel that would be much more active, a true City break, so it just depends what you would prefer!

I'd be wary of Rome during and around Holy Week (29 Mar - 5 April this year) unless you specifically want to participate in those activities. Italy as a whole often gets busier immediately after Easter, but most of March should be fine.

JamesClyman · 03/02/2026 16:41

DW's view is that Rome beats every other city on the planet. No exceptions.

apart from 7th March weekend when Italy are at home to England in the 6 nations!

Paris gets my vote!

TheWildEyeBoyfromafreecloud · 03/02/2026 18:40

I love Paris but id say Rome or Venice for this celebration

WhereAreWeNow · 03/02/2026 18:42

Always Paris.
Having said that, Verona is beautiful, romantic, close to the lakes, and has amazing food.

RS1987 · 03/02/2026 18:44

Rome is awesome, also Venice is so romantic!

teambrief · 03/02/2026 18:44

Remove Geneva. Was there in December. Hugely disappointing place to visit. Montreaux an hour away on the train is breathtaking though

PullTheBricksDown · 03/02/2026 18:47

Rome.

ButFirstTea · 03/02/2026 18:48

I'd throw Lisbon into the mix

greencheetah · 03/02/2026 18:48

Rome

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 03/02/2026 18:48

Tallinn (Estonia). Stay in the Old Town.
It's gorgeous

timetogoandstop · 03/02/2026 18:50

Rome. You’re literally standing on history at every corner. Touching the walls of the collesium and imagining who else had been there and done the very same was unbelievable

Shoemadlady · 03/02/2026 18:54

How long will you be there? Verona you can do with a couple of nights, lovely to just go and soak up the atmosphere. Rome you’d not scratch the surface with two nights. Geneva is off the scale expensive so depends on budget. Seville is beautiful too

WarrenTofficier · 03/02/2026 18:59

Look at flight times as well as prices. We found we could get 3 and half days of a four day break in some cities because of early flights out and late flights back while other cities we would only get two days and an evening.

JetFlight · 03/02/2026 19:15

Verona is nice and you can get the train to Venice for a day or two.

Teaandwater · 03/02/2026 19:37

Definitely not Milan but would go to Lake Como.

DemonsandMosquitoes · 03/02/2026 19:42

Have done Rome, Paris and Verona. Prefer Seville.

Chinsupmeloves · 03/02/2026 19:48

Venice
Florence
