I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The cats have had breakfast, played for a while, and vanished back upstairs. Dd2 isn't up yet.

I've already had a tidy round in the kitchen, and put the washer on for the first of two loads of towels. They'll be done soon-ish & can go in the dryer. I need to take my tablets & sort morning tablets for the week next.

The rest of the day will be spent between crafting some more of my thread crochet church, house hunting, and packing boxes. Dd2 is likely to do some revision ready for her English Language and Biology mocks tomorrow. She went to bed at 8:30 last night so I need to have a proper chat too - make sure she's not burning herself out.

We'll probably do that over tea. We're having roast pork - I need to nip to the shop for spuds I think. Definitely need something for breakfast tomorrow.

After that it'll be tidy the kitchen & showers all round. I'll get my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower, then have an hour or two with my book before an early night ready for work tomorrow 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've had two coffees and a cuppa with a slice of toast after a rotten night's sleep. Heigho. I'm putting off going to aldi for food. I have enough to do for today but I don't fancy going tomorrow morning. So it's a dilemma. I might just head back to bed. Have a good day all

frozendaisy · 01/02/2026 09:31

Morning morning
just finishing coffee before we all go off to the green volunteering group we do monthly
back for a quick turnaround for the teens to go bowling
then a fight over homework and getting things sorted for the start of the week
so an in out in out day
might be lazy and pick up an M&S buffet or make sausage and mash it could go either way

Bringyourfoldingchair · 01/02/2026 09:31

Morning! DH brought me coffee and toast in bed this morning so I have had that. Going to get up and tidy up and catch up with the washing and ironing. I have a click and collect to get from Tesco so will do that this morning and then take DCs swimming after lunch. Then will take DS11 to look at bikes and smart watches so he can decide what he would like for his birthday. Roast chicken for dinner this evening and all ready for school and work in the morning. Have a good day everyone!

Jinglejinglejingle7 · 01/02/2026 09:35

Toast & coffee had, dog needs a walk, both dc up and on screens, then walk, homework, pop to lidl for a few bits. Baking & house stuff today ready for the week ahead.

Iwanttogobacktobed · 01/02/2026 09:39

Good morning. I had a lie in and Dh brought me coffee so I am relaxing in bed whilst mumsnetting. He has taken ds to sports match and I will start some boring housework, which with earbuds and good podcast is actually far more tolerable.

Older teenage children are still in bed. Im considering a mooch in the local charity shop later followed by a food shop and some batch cooking.

gingercat02 · 01/02/2026 09:45

Morning all
Just finishing my breakfast, then off to my class. DH is just up (he was gaming until 2:30) and he will be cracking on with the shower while I'm out.
After lunch I need a trip to Boots for moisturiser and I need to see my mum. She has a hospital appointment on Tuesday and wants me to read through the paperwork with her.
Probably fajitas for tea, then Friday's Death in Paradise, DS loves both, so a nice Sunday night in for all of us.

DilemmaDelilah · 01/02/2026 09:51

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I woke up at 4.20 and couldn't go back to sleep, so I'm about to try again when I have finished this.😁

We still have a couple of loads of washing (and drying) to do for local daughter, and I need to check whether she needs it back today or whether she can wait until tomorrow evening when Mr Dilemma will be picking up chorister grandson after evening and dropping him home. A lot of it is school uniform so I think it will have to be today.

We did go and buy the planter I wanted yesterday, so today I will be ordering some compost from Amazon and researching planting dates for the seeds I have already bought. Welsh onions, Tumbling Tom tomatoes and sweet peppers... which we will intersperse with some flowering plants like marigolds and whatever else Mr Dilemma wants. I have also got a big circular planter which I'm going to put in the patch of field next door we have cleared of brambles and have planted apple trees in. It was, effectively, uncultivated and very steep, completely full of brambles, and we now have a little patch we can get to from the side of our garden. I'm going to plant marrows, as I found it completely impossible to find any in the supermarkets last summer and I do like marrow (the vegetable kind). We need to find an effective way to protect the marrows from marauding badgers, foxes and deer... all of which not only habituate the field, but also our garden judging by the images we get on our night vision wildlife cameras! So if anyone has any ideas please let me know!

Other than that... I'm going to sew some sequins onto a pair of velvet trousers - I turned them up and then found that the turn up was so obvious and ugly I couldn't wear them - so I'm disguising it with sequins. I'm a short-arse and find most affordable trousers too long for me, especially as I have up wearing high, or even moderately high, heels several years ago.

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Just having cold pizza for brekkie then will make a cuppa (DH & I have already had one in bed). I’ve taken photos of a Cotton Traders cardigan, still with tags on, to post on Vinted & parcelled up 2 pairs of Nobody’s Child trousers to return. Unbelievably wide legged! There’s some lovely stuff in their sale. Gutted when a safari dark leopard print dress wasn’t available in my size. The filter said otherwise! I’ve never seen one like it anywhere else. I could really do with the refund now but it could take a while. There’s a load of washing to go on & the dishwasher needs unloading/loading. We’re both terrible for not cleaning the kitchen surfaces so they will definitely get done! Today is the start of my “BowelBabe” challenge, dancing 20 minutes a day for the whole of Feb. I thought that was very doable & would be fun for a brilliant cause. I’m going to ask if I can advertise my JustGiving page at work somehow & maybe wear my t shirt. DD17 is awake & has been talking on the phone about all the latest dramas - let’s put it this way, she doesn’t need the phone 🤣🤣🤣 Popping across to check on my folks later & take them some biscuits as we polished off the ginger nuts yesterday. I’ll try to go for a walk at some point. Nice easy tea of sausages, chips & beans. Will watch Call the Midwife. Have a good Sunday all

lucysmam · 01/02/2026 10:00

@MarmaladeSandwich7 you've reminded me, I wanted to have a hunt on Vinted too, for a dress to wear to see Florence & The Machine with dd1 in a fortnight.

‘Morning all!
A grey, mizzly morning here, the dogs are walked and asleep so it’s quiet.
I’m enjoying avocado toast and coffee then I need to have a good tidy up downstairs and get the washing finished.
DH will disappear to the village for a coffee but I’ve told him I want the dinning room table cleared it’s covered in his bloody ‘paperwork’, namely many heaps of random pieces of paper including things he’s cut out of magazines for some obscure reason.
want to try and finish my crochet blanket today, 2.5 more rounds, that’s about 4 hours of crochet?
Wishing you all a peaceful day 🙏

Zippedydodah · 01/02/2026 10:05

@DilemmaDelilah I’ve successfully kept marauding deer etc off courgette plants by liberally sprinkling cayenne powder and chilli flakes…..They’re persistent little buggers, aren’t they?

Myblueclematis · 01/02/2026 10:06

Going round to my friend's house lunchtime, haven't caught up for a while so as the weather is so shite and I can't do anything in the garden, I'll see her then come home and don't know what I'll do when I get back, maybe make some shortbread.

Stew for tea, finish watching All4 Belgian crime drama then Night Manager.

Not the most exciting day but I've caught up with six friend/family this past week so feel good about that.

Rainbow1235 · 01/02/2026 10:06

Good morning lucysmam and to u all . I’m sat with a cuppa and we got grandson no 1 for few hours as his mam is going to book a holiday with her friend who has a daughter in his class so he’s very excited. Beef dinner today not sure whose coming but they all welcome and I want to pop in cemetery to take flowers I bought yest . Then hopefully a quiet afternoon. Have a great and safe day all 🫶

Giggorata · 01/02/2026 10:07

Good morning, lucysmam and all.
I am doing tea and pills, and contemplating my day.
After laundry, bed changing and tidying, I am going to modify the glass shade on a standard lamp. At the moment, it has this unbearably bright “bullseye”, which sears my eyes and makes it unusable. I have bought some mellow yellow glass paint with which I am going to slightly dim that one bit.

Then I am going to hang up my carnyx (Celtic battle horn) along the big ceiling beam in the study. It is brass and I think it will look good, plus it is very long and will be safely out of the way. It has been stored in its component parts in a bag but it is difficult to find somewhere to store it and I am always worried about it getting crushed.

DH is out with the dogs and is planning roast beef for dinner. We might go to the pub later. Ah, but I've just been reminded that it’s Night Manager tonight…

DilemmaDelilah · 01/02/2026 10:13

Hello @Zippedydodah , nice to see you this morning 😊. Chilli/cayenne is a good idea. I will get some in. I was thinking of a physical barrier something like a playpen maybe? Once my (hypothetical) marrows grow big and juicy I'm not sure the cayenne would be enough of a deterrent.

I will have to see what I can find on facebook/ebay.

Helplessandheartbroke · 01/02/2026 10:33

Morning all! We're off to sealife and legoland shortly i can't wait! Have a good day

MoiraRoseVibes · 01/02/2026 11:00

Morning!
Rainy here.
DH is painting the living room. I just helped DD2 make some Viennese biscuits - they were really hard to pipe out of the bag but we had a laugh doing it!
DD1 is upstairs revising for end of year exams (her school is having them early).
Haggis for dinner. Don’t have any neeps so might have to have some random accompaniments!
Going to have a second breakfast of tea and toast in a sec.
Happy Sunday, all.

Zippedydodah · 01/02/2026 11:04

@DilemmaDelilah the deer here jump 5’ fences so perhaps you need something more like a fruit cage? You can collapsible garden frames which might be worth looking at. Good luck!
Curry powder would work, you can buy it cheaply in Indian stores or eBay I think.

Thislittlekitten · 01/02/2026 11:39

Morning all

Had a lie in today after being out last night.
Just been in a very muddy walk with DDog. Now going to make myself and DS bacon rolls.
DD is still asleep and DH just back from Tesco. Not too much planned for today. DS has homework and I have the usual cleaning and uniform jobs to do. DS has a club tonight too but that’s later. Not sure Dads plans but hoping tidying her room is one of them!
I really need to finish my library book so that’s the plan for later.

lucysmam · 01/02/2026 11:48

Sigh, I am not moving very fast today.

There are a couple of houses to be viewed though, and I've found a dress for Florence. Could do with shifting & packing a box or two now 🤔

Think I'll finish assembling the steeple I re-made next.

Good luck with the house hunting. Not done it for years now but DB and SIL did it a year ago and it was horrendous! I came along with them to some of the house viewings. Obvs I’m less fussy because a couple of the houses they discounted I liked!

Peridot1 · 01/02/2026 12:04

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. Just!

Been up ages and had my first cuppa while having a lovely long natter with my friend in Australia. I’m going there in just over a week so some planning to do. Can’t wait.

Then had another cuppa with some toast. Emptied the dishwasher and reloaded it and it’s back on. Washed the table runner I managed to spill curry on last night. Then watered a big plant in the dining area which wasn’t looking happy. Discovered it’s been overwatered and was sitting in water so manhandled that outside and managed to empty the excess out. It needs repotting too.

Then went for a shower and am now having a coffee. Have some research to do for a little side trip I am doing in Australia with my friend and need to message a couple of other friends there.

I framed some posters yesterday to go up in our new gym and hoping DH will put them up today. Have a few jumpers to wash. And need to get DS to bring his washing down.

Need to start a new book this afternoon. And it’s roast beef for dinner. Some tv and an early night with said book.

Good luck with the house hunting @lucysmam.

thebeautifulsky · 01/02/2026 12:07

Good morning Lucysmam and others.

I was up early and sat in the kitchen with my coffee thinking about what I need to do today. I've done two loads of washing and cleaned the downstairs loo. I've finally taken down the Christmas wreath (dried foliage) that was hanging on the pantry door. Will gather a few bits later on and update it into a spring one. No idea why I put seasonal wreaths on the pantry door - I'm sure only me likes them! The weather here is awful, dark and pouring down. Roll on spring.

I nipped to Tesco to get a few bits for batch baking and our usual Sunday lunch. For some reason, our usually quiet country road into town is like the M11 this morning. Some driving far too fast for my liking. Whilst out, I had dropped off a few bits at Barbados charity shop and picked up a car track for 50p - hope my DGS will enjoy playing with it here next week. Just hoping all the parts are there as there's a hole in the bag!

Just me and DH for lunch today then a bit of Netflix and toast for dinner.

Hope your house hunting goes to plan Lucysmam.

I’ve just checked out of my hotel in Amsterdam, flying home today. Have had a great weekend on my first ever solo trip. Will have a relaxing evening when back as straight back to work tomorrow sadly.
