Day Discos - do men go too?

I have read that these are a thing now. Sounds like a great idea but I wondered if it is mostly women who attend? Do younger people go?
The things I have seen locally seem to be 80s/90s music so I am thinking it is aimed at a middle aged sort of audience.

Watching with curiosity. As a middle agedwoman I could never imagine going clubbing during the day. I struggle to get out before 9pm

Rubberducksallround · 27/01/2026 20:57

I've been to two, both 90s themed. Plenty of men there, definitely more women though, I'd say a 60:40 split.
The one I went to was over 30s only. I'd say most people there were in their 40s to 50s.

Incalescent · 27/01/2026 21:05

I’d agree maybe a 60/40 female/male split at the ones I’ve been to.

Slowmoles · 27/01/2026 21:07

I went to a daytime indie one and it was 60:40 men to women, but would imagine pop ones being more women

Cathystiredghost · 27/01/2026 21:09

I went to a Day Fever one in Cardiff and it was great! I also think there was a 60:40 sort of ratio and the men there were with women, not groups of men on their own iyswim.
Bloody great time, home in bed by 10.30!

Kayemm · 27/01/2026 21:10

I went to Day Fever, I'd say it was a 70/30 split.

It was FABULOUS!

Springflowersyay · 27/01/2026 21:10

Yes. Men mainly there on the pull.

sundayvibeswig22 · 27/01/2026 21:32

I’ve been to a few ‘Early night clubs’. My dh came with me once as part of a group and the other times it was my friends. There were plenty of men there.

Doggymummar · 27/01/2026 21:34

We've got one soon, 80s on 7th Feb. Do they serve alcohol? I would want coffee

Rattrapjudy · 27/01/2026 21:37

Dayfever three times, 70-30 split. Everyone seemed to be loving it, with a couple of men looking 60+ dancing on the stage.

SirChenjins · 27/01/2026 21:38

A few men go to our local Abba & 80s one - some have obviously been dragged there by their wives/partners and look v fed up, and the others are very obviously living their best gay lives. I'd say 95% women. They are brilliant - a few drinks, a disco with brilliant music, a seat, and home for the back of 8pm. What's not to love?

Maddy70 · 27/01/2026 21:44

I'm in my late 50s. Not interested in a tea dance lol. I don't go out before 10pm. I'm not dead yet!

Why would you think it’s a tea dance? Maybe you haven’t heard about the latest trend (actually around for a while).
I went day clubbing just before Christmas. We can still go out and enjoy ourselves dancing whatever the time of day or night and there were people there half my age.
Alcohol is optional as are hangovers.

PuppyMonkey · 27/01/2026 22:07

Tea Dance. Grin

I’ve been to Day Fever at Rock City in Nottingham three times - packed to the rafters at 3pm. Everyone in full party mode. Amazing.

Plenty of men, mostly women dancing though TBF.

sakura06 · 27/01/2026 22:10

I’ve been to Day Fever too. The first time there were very few men and the second time there were more (would agree 70:30). There’s quite a mix of music but the latest songs seem to be 90s which I find a bit odd as I was in my prime in the 00s! Would like to hear more 2000+ music (I’m in my 40s!!).

TwistedWonder · 27/01/2026 22:14

Daytime events aren’t a new thing. We’ve been going for years.

The ones we go to are very mixed age and sex but I’d say it’s a pretty even split make/female and she’s from mid 30’s to pensioners. This is more house music than cheese so it’s probably a slightly different crowd

The thread is about discos, not tea dances, although I'm sure they might be good too if that's your type of music/dancing

Some of my friends go and rave about them, the impression they've given me is that they are mainly women

A tea dance? I’m 60 and the ones I go to are day raves. Absolutely 100% house

Ours are during school hours 10-2

EmeraldRoulette · 27/01/2026 22:26

I'm a late person

So I understand the 9 pm, 10 pm posters

But that doesn't mean I can't go out at 2 pm. Is it that it's too early or just that it feels wrong?

@Sweetiedarling7 we've got a few round here and men go, why wouldn't they?

Ha, I wish they’d play much more 70s and 80s, the 00s bit is boring. But I am nearly 60. They should do breakaway versions where some are solely old school and some are later stuff and 00s.

TwistedWonder · 27/01/2026 22:33

Doggymummar · 27/01/2026 22:19

Ours are during school hours 10-2

The ones I go up are weekends - usually Saturday 5-10

Crushed23 · 27/01/2026 22:56

I go to day raves all the time and it’s a mix of men and women. They usually start early afternoon (with most people getting there late afternoon / early evening) and continue till midnight. Then people usually go to an after party.

Davros · 27/01/2026 23:05

Gary Crowley’s list 80s. Tons of men

Davros · 27/01/2026 23:06

Should say 2pm-7pm
