Inspired by the opposite thread, which places you have visited have stayed in your mind and you would recommend to others?

My favourite was the drive from Miami down to Key West - an absolutely fascinating, lovely trip. The sheer scale of some of the bridge building and lovely little stops at some of the Keys on the way was all so memorable. The scenery was all beautiful too, and Key West itself was gorgeous. Thoroughly recommended.

I did this in 1995 and yes, it was fabulous. Also went to the Everglades and swam at the Dolphin Research Centre on Marathon.

Best holiday ever.

Venice totally beautiful and felt very very different to anything I’d been to before

New Orleans including jazz clubs. This was pre-Katrina; I’d love to go back but don’t know how it’ll have changed

Sitting on a balcony of a little homestay in Ethiopia - set on top of a ridge, it felt like the whole of the continent was laid out in front of you - and as the sun set the most incredible electrical storm started in the distance - felt like we were sitting in another time.

When DH and I first got together at 20 years old he asked me where in the world I wanted to go to most. I had never been anywhere having grown up pretty poor.
I said that the only place I really wanted to see was Scotland as I loved mountains, castles and beautiful scenery.

The next day he told me he was taking me to Scotland for the weekend.
We left before 5am to make the long journey up to Inverary where he’d booked a hotel overlooking Loch Fyne.

The views were stunning driving in to the town and I gasped when I saw the castle. But the best moment and my favourite memory was as we parked up. I got out of the car to hear bagpipes playing. I cried at how perfect it all was.

It’s our 25th anniversary next year and we’re planning to go back.

What a lovely dh you have @TulipTuesday ❤️

Carthage. It was absolutely stunning and so fascinating - historic sites don't usually stick in my mind (I can barely remember visiting Stonehenge, for example), but it was perfectly beautiful and peaceful. I know Tunisia is an unpopular holiday resort on here, but we had a brilliant time there about 25 years ago and it's all stuck in my memory.

Venice for me as well. I’m so glad to see it feature here after all the people on the “most boring places” wrote it off.
Ephesus was also stunning and Pamukkule, I went to Turkey more than 30 years ago so there were far fewer tourists.
The US national parks, Zion, Bryce etc are unforgettable too.
It doesn’t take a lot to beat the Scottish highlands though, unless you are stuck in a camper van jam.
