Has anyone seen his recent statement on Instagram? I actually feel very sorry for him.

Check the trademark register - it's on there. All of the Beckham children appear to have their names trademarked.

But the children will own their own trademarks after 18? I can understand the parents trademarking the names before 18 and passing the children afterwards to stop other people exploiting it. Parent’s controlling their adult children’s name though is just plain bonkers!!

@mumstheword1x
Are you a big V and D fan??

No, my recent post clearly states ‘I’m not saying VB and DB are right’ - my point is, he’s used his ‘brand’ until it’s got him somewhere financially secure that he can cut himself out, because it revolves around ‘money’ with these people.

but he is comfortable using ‘Beckham’ in every way it could possibly benefit him, like promoting his hot sauce, or featuring in the documentary in 2023. He’s an adult, he can seperate himself.

If he's so keen to distance himself from his birth family, why hasn't he changed his name??

I was keen to distance myself from my XH but I still kept 'his' surname.

Which would still make his parents very controlling and about the brand over actual family.

I think you mean billionaire through her father anyway.
I actually feel very sorry for him. And yes, i do believe him. And he had no chance from a very small child. And David and Victoria beckham are after the glory. Sir David. Dear god. And they are absolutely stupid people who literally know nothing about bring up children. Brooklyn deserves a happy life. I hope he gets it with his current family which is much more understanding than his birth family.

MidWayThruJanuary · 19/01/2026 20:39

@LessonsinChemistryandLove
His father and his mother are equally at fault.

Peanutbutteryday · 19/01/2026 20:39

The main allegation I don’t get is the dog one. No one, VB included, is required to sponsor/help someone/chsrity - everyone is entitled to be asked and also to say no if they wish. If true may be for a reason not shared.

otherwise the wedding and dance allegation is awful alone!!!! And I believe it as there will have been witnesses so can’t really lie about it

ClearFruit · 19/01/2026 20:39

Seriously?

LindorDoubleChoc · 19/01/2026 20:39

Slightly ashamed with myself for finding this all so interesting ... but I have been saying for years, ever since it became a thing really, that no one should be exploiting their children, relatives, friends or colleagues for currency on social media. I see so many snippets online (I don't seek them out btw) where I think "wow, did the person you are filming actually consent to this, do they understand the implications?"

The Beckhams (and to a similar extent Katie Price) were absolute trail blazers in this online life behaviour. It's so bizarre. Can you imagine your boss or neighbour airing their family dirty laundry in the same way? Just because you are famous doesn't mean you can't opt for privacy.

CarminaBiryani · 19/01/2026 20:39

Wedding stress seems pretty normal, Victoria is perceived as a bit interfering and David maybe was in the middle and wanted to avoid fallout over his birthday. This seems like normal family drama to me 😂

I feel for him that he's grown up with anxiety and feel sorry for Harper as she's still a child.

None of us know the truth (is there even an objective truth?) but his feelings are valid and his parents perhaps didn't get everything right.
Not judging but it feels like they all have anxiety of some sort.

Also sounds vaguely Chat GPT at the end! Hopefully Brooklyn finds peace and can look on his experiences as having given him resilience etc. That's all the thought I'm giving it 🤣

I often think there will be a sort of "me too" reckoning when the kids of all these influencers reach an age of autonomy.

I agree. These children have had no say, and very little privacy.

Ironic really that he goes to the effort of mentioning his 500 person wedding, and name dropping Marc Anthony.

He seemed to miss the point that he wouldn’t have had a 500 person wedding or have Marc Anthony announcing anything, if he wasn’t Brooklyn Beckham.

He’s only a “somebody” because he’s David Beckham’s son. Doesn’t appear to be giving up the fame that came from that tortuous upbringing does he.

Given his age I can’t imagine Marc Anthony was top of his list for the wedding!!!

Could that be to prevent other people using their names?

(At least in part)

Yep that's it. Eg Blue Ivy (Beyonce's eldest) name leaked when the trademark action was found. Before she was born.

Jbum · 19/01/2026 20:40

I don't blame him for wanting to tell his side across he has mostly stayed silent whilst seeing his wife taking the brunt of it all and honestly even I would be like enough is enough and wow well truth is always inbetween so I believe alot of it especially how they pushed the brand Beckham part.

Its very stupid of VB or anyone else to be angry they weren't on the top table its not like they alone were shoved in a dark corner I mean ffs why cant the people getting married just design their wedding how they want to, why must other people and family be able get involved and force their wants and needs. No wonder weddings tend to be full of drama.

I mean I would love to see that wedding dance though haha

Passingthrough123 · 19/01/2026 20:35

Except they know that's not going to wash now. Any photocalls they do now will seem desperate.

If I was advising them, I'd get them to post a joint statement saying they are distressed to hear what Brooklyn has had to say, and recollections do vary, but they will always love him and their door is always open, then leave it at that.

If they come out fighting against him, it will look so, so bad. He's played a blinder, frankly.

Yes, they changed the press game back then.

But, now, it’s changed again. Social media.

Brooklyn is holding all of the cards, it seems.

Wonder how they’ll respond? They need Simon!

Well, if nothing else, I'm sure "crisis talks" are ongoing right now at Beckham Towers. How to "regain control of the narrative" etc.

Quite possibly!

I've just done a quick search for Gordon Ramsay's daughter Tilly - as she's a cooking influencer and obviously has the connection to her famous Dad. Her name in shortened or full form, isn't on the register as far as I can see. So maybe it depends on your concerns as a parent, and whether you plan to launch your family (or members of it) as a brand or not?

berlinbaby2025 · 19/01/2026 20:42

johntorodesfatcheeks · 19/01/2026 20:36

I’m not so sure. Not that I care but if this thread is anything to go by many have doubted the Beckhams and disliked them for some time yet they've still raked it in and stayed well and truly in the public eye.
why will their eldest son attempting to throw them under the bus via social media jeopardise that?

Edited

This is the first time one of their kids (true insiders) has gone on record criticising VB and DB. This is major news and as such has gone global.

Totally, it’s got to be a bit of a tough way to grow up. It’s madness how as a society we have sort of created this weirdness

GOAT26 · 19/01/2026 20:42

It's just your bog standard family fallout being played out publicly. He's being a bit of a little prince about some of the things for example dancing with his mum ruining his wedding so that he had to have another wedding. But then if you have a family who have brought you up to expect perfectly orchestrated events then you will get this type of meltdown at imperfection or perceived slights.

I also think he and Harry & their wives should definitely be hanging out together.

It just shows money definitely doesn't bring you happiness, let's hope some very expensive therapy does instead!

His surname is Beckham, his parents can't take that from him. People insist on comparing him with Harry, but the situations are quite different, despite the Beckhams' delusions of grandeur. His name is not a royal title.
