Has anyone seen his recent statement on Instagram? I actually feel very sorry for him.

Because it's his name?

And what would be the point everyone knows who he is, thanks to his parents.

But random nannies at the top table? Surely both sets of parents at the top table plus best man, etc and rest of the close families on adjacent tables. Then friends etc.

Random? It's their grandmothers! Both of whom they were/are extremely close to.

Bruisername · 19/01/2026 20:29

MissCooCooMcgoo · 19/01/2026 20:28

Pretty sure he means his and Nicolas grandmothers? Not childcare nannies

Tbf if it was childcare Nannie’s that would say a lot!!

I think this shows a young man at the end of his rope with his family and the relentless media intrusion they have brought into his life. Makes me feel quite sad for him to be honest.

Can't wait to see how Brand Beckham replies to this...

It is his nan, not “au pair” type nanny… and I assume hers too.

25flyby · 19/01/2026 20:29

I’m glad he’s said his peice. Sounds like many kids who grow up with controlling parents ( however well intentioned).
Money has nothing to do with it aside from the media circus.
In 15 years he’ll recognise that they were just doing what their experience of money and fame lead them to.Many parents on here stay together for the kids or lifestyle or because they think it’s best. Good luck to him as an independent adult. I hope he learns the lessons with his children ( or chooses not to have any).

thankless child

The "thankless child" was the only child who actually loved her father though. The outwardly compliant, flattering children caused their father's death, if you're quoting King Lear? So Brooklyn is not a snake at all on that basis..

The Tom Bower book on the Beckhams, covers a lot of detail about DB's alleged affairs, and the determination to keep Brand Beckham going.

He wrote about VB apparently leaning on Brooklyn for emotional support, and seems to think that he was party to a lot of details about his parents marriage that he probably shouldn't have known about. How true this is - who knows? AFAIK, no legal action followed from the Beckhams about the contents in the book.

The point about the name rights rings true, as Tom Bower also wrote about this as part of the Brand Beckham strategy - Brooklyn's name is a trademark owned by VB, it's visible on the Gov.uk register.

I imagine it would fuck anyone up to be a child in the middle of your parents' disintegrating marriage, which is being only held together for the PR and brand value, with journalists crawling about desperate to find the next crack in the facade.

I can absolutely see how he'd end up unhappy and anxious - throw into the mix that he's grown up in a blaze of publicity. Even worse when it comes to trying to find your niche, but you have no privacy to fail or get it wrong. His photos were terrible, but as he was 17-18ish at the time, I suspect the drive to publish the book was facilitated by his parents rather than him. If this was the case, then I think it's a huge disservice. Lots of teens try stuff and aren't very good; it's a normal part of working out what you want to do and hopefully finding something you like AND that you're good at.

Edited

God, I thought it was the name Beckham they were talking about. It’s his first name? She trademarked it?!

They're not random nannies though, they're their grandmothers who were attending the wedding alone. A nice touch really.

And probably solved the issue of who to have on the table with D&VB - his Dad and his new wife, or his mum.

Not random Nannie’s. Their widowed grandmothers

I respect him for doing that actually. I feel very sorry for him and hope he can be happy. And yes, it does make VB look like the MIL from hell. The allegations are quite specific and therefore probably all true.

@usaywhat

what are the allegations?

TiggerAndHobbes · 19/01/2026 20:31

Letsskidaddle · 19/01/2026 20:15

I understood it to mean they - DB&VB - wanted Brooklyn to sign away the professional ‘use’ of his name to David and Victoria to own and capitalise on. For example, they could launch and market a range of “Brooklyn Beckham/BB Cookware” but THEY would own the name and get money from it. The name “Brooklyn Beckham” and derivatives of it would become an entity in its own right that David and Victoria would/could make money from (hence the payday comment).

I wonder if they were trying to do it from a pre-nuptial perspective for Brooklyn. Not that that wouldn’t be an overstep.

Random nannies???

He said they both had a grandmother at the top table as they were there without their husbands. I think that's lovely.

@BadgernTheGarden, did you read it as nannies like a children's nanny?

mumstheword1x · 19/01/2026 20:31

BananaPeels · 19/01/2026 20:22

Whatever you think about him he has had zero say on being out on social media from a young age. I can’t imagine what that must have been like. I have never put a single photo of my children on social media as it isn’t fair on them. None of the other spice girls have done this. It is possible to keep your children relatively anonymous. It has always been weird the way the children are summoned for photo ops

Yet CHOOSES to have a public Instagram account with 16.5million followers with Beckham quite clear in his username. If you don’t like the public eye, you don’t HAVE to push your self into it harder.

He LOVES the rewards of being a ‘Beckham’ brings, but doesn’t like being told ‘No’ - families fight all the time. They just happens to be wealthy and famous, so it makes it seem BIGGER..

I am not saying VB or DB are right, but he certainly wouldn’t be the privileged man he is without his mummy and daddy and playing along with the Beckham Brand for so long.

He also CHOSE to be in his dad’s ‘Beckham’ 2023 documentary.

Passingthrough123 · 19/01/2026 20:31

I would give anything to be a fly on the wall at the Beckhams' house tonight. They must be reeling. No amount of videos dancing to Kenny and Dolly will repair the damage to their brand after this.

Bruisername · 19/01/2026 20:32

Also how is he ungrateful?

look at the joke his parents made of him when he did that photography book - they didn’t care what kind of publicity it got as long as it got publicity and they made a laughing stock of a teenager

Moen · 19/01/2026 20:32

I believe him.

The Beckhams won’t respond publicly, there’ll just be an influx of happy family photos posted, much like the infamous ski trip.

Sandra Beckham isn't widowed. Her ex-husband is remarried and attended the wedding with his new wife.

Surely that isn’t possible? I just can’t trademark George clooney or Brad Pitt- they will have the right to get their name back? A parent can’t own the trademark to their child’s name past the age of 18 can they?- seems crazy
