As if his is the only
opinion that matters

and it could be about anything
holidays
going away with friends for a weekend
work things
literally anything

sorry I needed a vent

My Granny used to say that too , but that was about 30 years ago and she also thought I would give up work when I married 😂 I wish.

Yes mine does the same. Not all the time, but she will often do it when the issue in question has absolutely nothing to do with my husband. It doesn’t require his input, opinion or consultation!

my mum definitely seems to place men higher in the hierarchy for some unknown reason.

My mum is 85 and does this. If I tell her I'm going out/away with friends, she'll ask if my dh minds me going out without him - 'is he alright with you going out without him?' 'What does he have to say about that?'
Yet, if my dh goes out/away, she doesn't say anything.
She got really stressy once when I drank two glasses of wine with a meal. She looked at my dh and said 'that's her second glass. Is she allowed to drink that much?' (She's teetotal).
She's a strange woman.

Just ask her why it's relevant what DH thinks. Or why she's interested in his opinion.
