Anyone got any decent recommendations for high leg boots for our dog walks across the fields especially in the wet weather and got room tuck trousers in fed up of soaking wet trousers now

Muck Boots - absolutely brilliant things. I have a pair of arctic ones that see me through the worst/coldest weather - can't recommend them enough. Change the trousers as well!

Yeah the trousers were impractical but I just finished work for the day and couldn’t be bothered to change 🥶😂 I did regret that field walk that day should of stuck to the main paths 😂

Anything like cotton will absorb water and not be windproof. But gaiters will stop the ingress of water. Hem of trousers needs to be away from water

Agree. I have just replaced my mid calf Arctic Sport II after 10 years hard work. I wear those for wet and muddy field walks.

I also have the tall version for beach walks (they don’t let sand in as are very snug around the calf, but I can fold my bootleg jeans into them if necessary as there is room around the ankles). Enables me to cross some quite deep inlets.

I suffer with cold feet but the Arctic boots keep them toasty warm all day.

But basically OP, you do need appropriate trousers 🙂

I always wear Chameaus, I have different ones for summer and winter but I bought DH a pair of Grisport Gamekeeper boots for Christmas and he loves them. They are waterproof and come up much higher than normal walking boots.

Are dubarry boots actually waterproof? I’ve heard mixed reviews about them, I’m fed up of my trousers getting soaked and heavy, so want room tuck my trousers as well.

As other posters have said they are, but bloody expensive and I’ve always found my legs to be too “stocky”. Look at bareback generally as they have a good range with a waterproof membrane. Also take a look at Açai walking trousers, they are quite expensive but they last forever ( I’m still wearing those I bought pre covid), and they do normal thin and stretchy or lovely fleece lined, which are perfect for the walks you are talking about.

Toggi Canyons, as a horse mom I live in them for about 8 months of the year!

Have you tried gaiters? Added advantage that they keep your boss chosen and they're ready to strip off and dump in the car. Then you still have normal boots for better weather

Work in wet summer weather as well
