What’s your 2026 mantra

I read somewhere on another thread:

”no point in walking round with your umbrella up incase it pisses down” or something along those lines.

This really resonated with me as I tend to worry about things that are probably pretty unlikely to happen / be as bad as I expect.

Anyone else got something similar?

Its nice to be nice

wornoutjeans · 09/01/2026 14:39

No is a complete sentence . Fed up people pleasing and running myself ragied

MeAndMyGhost · 09/01/2026 16:06

To chill out a bit more. Not everything needs to be perfect.

NotMyProblemAnymore · 09/01/2026 18:14

Same as last year's mantra, and the year(s) before: "this too shall pass", covers a multitude of situations, keeps me mindful; have considered getting it engraved on a plain silver bangle that I wear everyday.

PauliesWalnuts · 09/01/2026 18:17

Do you want it or do you need it?

I need to achieve two things this year - 1) save money to have the outside render on the house repainted, and 2) lose weight and get my blood pressure down.

Hopefully this mantra will cover them both off.

Seasaltchips · 09/01/2026 18:21

Be braver

For me, this is specifically in the context of trying to make friends, which I’ve had mixed success with!

So if I meet someone I click with, be brave and ask them for coffee etc.

Also I need to stop hiding behind WhatsApp groups, e.g. asking if anyone on the hiking group fancies a walk. Instead I need to be braver and directly message the people I get on with best.

Tisfortired · 09/01/2026 18:21

Be less of a lazy bitch and go for the things you want.

Seasaltchips · 09/01/2026 18:22

Oh and my mantra from a couple of years back:

“Stop prioritising other people’s priorities ahead of your own priorities”

DelinquentSnails · 09/01/2026 18:22

2026 is the year I’m having whatever is the opposite of a professional crisis of confidence. A professional glow up, perhaps. In my late forties, I finally have time, confidence and brain space to offer more to my own practice and my profession, so maybe my mantra is:

This is the year I choose to sit at the big boys’ table 🙂

I love this one. Making connections can feel risky but really is worth it. Good luck!

Cheeseanddigestivebiscuits · 09/01/2026 18:23

Mine is ‘Everything always works out for me’ or ‘Everything always goes my way’ which it does…. eventually!

Myfridgeiscool · 09/01/2026 18:24

It’s all going to be OK and I’m going to sort everything out!

positive mindset!

Clingfilm · 09/01/2026 18:26

Read a bloody book.

I saw one on here a few years ago that I loved - sky before screens (look out of the window/go outside before you look at your phone) and I've adhered to that one, I love it.

soccermum10 · 09/01/2026 18:26

Energy I'm bringing to 2026 🖕

HerBigChance · 10/01/2026 05:48

I'm in charge of the outcome here.

Done is better than perfect.

66babe · 10/01/2026 06:03

I’m tired of worrying about what other people think of me
I’m a professional who has raised her children , paid off her mortgage and continues to pay all bills herself .. but have suffered terribly with social anxiety of .. am I slim enough, am I pretty enough etc
So today I’m having my hair cut and a dusky pastel pink colour applied .. which I’ve wanted to do for years but never did
Then I’m going to have a coffee and a cake in my favourite spot reading my book while everyone admires my beautiful hair from afar 😂

SandwichMakerHater · 10/01/2026 06:38

Mine is from slightly mishearing a song lyric:

It's never too soon and it's never too late.

In other words, the perfect time to do it is now so stop procrastinating and bloody do it!

newmenewwhatever · 10/01/2026 08:37

If I don’t want to do it then I’m not….
going
doing
seeing
helping
looking
or anything else.
inner peace and self preservation is 2026

DeanElderberry · 10/01/2026 10:04

they are (probably/possibly) lying to me

ps, wrt to media, not individuals

and always always, trust my intuition

AncientMarina · 10/01/2026 10:20

You can only lead your own life.

SemmaLina · 10/01/2026 10:21

What about me ? What do I want to do ?

Overstimulated · 10/01/2026 10:24

“I’ll move through this year with steadiness rather than urgency”

and also

“I can care deeply without carrying everything”

heartsinvisiblefury · 10/01/2026 10:25

Be kind but take no shit

This was my mantra last year and it’s served me well. Absolutely continuing it this year.
