in your family?

February is easily ours.
I can think of 7 Feb birthdays without trying.
We have no birthdays in January or August though.

It is always someones birthday in my family, May we have 5 birthdays, July and August we have 6 and October we have 7! That’s not including friends just immediate family

reem123 · 06/01/2026 16:34

We have 11 family birthdays in January alone including 4 of my children.

Haven't you read that for much of the UK that doesn't apply? So definitely not 'UK women'. The oldest in Scottish schools are March birthdays (or Jan/ Feb as you can defer if born then. We did for DS3 Feb born).

English and Welsh schools start the school year in September. Scotland start in August so September born children will still be amongst the eldest. My point still stands.

September - December. Virtually everyone's birthday is then.

ShortColdandGrey · 06/01/2026 18:18

September, most of my bloody family have them in the same week. 3 of them on the same day.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 06/01/2026 18:21

Erm...no it doesn't. Don't comment if you don't have the correct information. As I said, March born children are the eldest as the cut-off in Scotland is end of February to start school the August of the same year.

So, if your birth date is February 28th 2022, you start school in August 2026 - age 4 & 6 months.

If your birth date is March 1st 2022, you start school in August 2927- age 5 & 5 months.

However, if your child is born in January or February you can defer & have them start in 2027 at 5 & 6 or 7 months. This is very popular- most parents I know did this/ do this (I did with DS3 Feb born & my sister with DN Jan born).

Therefore, September born children are bang centre in terms of age.

To make it even more varied, since Covid parents can defer ANY child who is not 5 on the day school starts if they so wish, so a child born in October 2021 could go to school in August 2027 age 5& 10 months and so forth.

I felt deeply sorry for my English friend whose son is a late August birthday & he HAD to go to school a few days after turning 4. She had no recourse to defer or appeal either (no ASN). He's now 16, & perhaps it's changed.

WanderlustMom · 06/01/2026 19:42

Quite literally alllll different!

Brother - January
My daughter - February
Mom - March
Me - April
Nobody in May
Dad - June
My son - July
Nobody in August/September/October
My brother - November
My sister - December

I don’t have any extended family.

Feb, March and June here

Sunnyside4 · 06/01/2026 21:09

Well you'd think, nine months after Xmas😂.

Really odd here though, we've got loads of birthdays in March - two on 1st, 11(DH), 16,19, 23 and 26. May - 16, two on 18th, 19, 24 and 26th.

crossstitchingnana · 06/01/2026 21:17

April

MushyPeasAndMintSauce · 06/01/2026 21:25

FEB - 2
MAR - 2
APR - 3
MAY - 3
JUNE - 1
JUL - 3
AUG - 2

DEC - 0

That's my immediate.

Think that's everybody!

Waitingfordoggo · 06/01/2026 21:29

September and June in my family.

One of my children is 25th Sept (and yes, almost certainly conceived between Xmas and NY!) I also have a Sept birthday and so does a niece.

FettleOfKish · 06/01/2026 21:30

We don’t have a common month but have a few clustered June/July and then a few November/December/January. As an October baby I’m the outlier.

TheRuffleandthePearl · 06/01/2026 22:23

CaramelCaramel · 06/01/2026 10:52

It’s September because most women in the UK want a child who is one of the oldest in their year. My DC isn’t an autumn or winter baby. No pattern in my family though.

Please don’t say UK when you mean England. It’s so ignorant.
The academic “year” in Scotland for intakes runs March to February. So kids start school in August when the oldest born in March will be 5 yr/5 months and the youngest born in Feb will be 4 yr/6 months.

Although most parents now choose to defer their Jan or Feb children until the following year so they start at 5 yr and 6/7 months old.

I know. FFS.

Notice the deafening silence from the PP once the correct info is shared. 🙄

Toastersandkettles · 06/01/2026 22:31

December. We have 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 16th and 23rd!

Crispynoodle · 06/01/2026 22:32

Yes having worked in maternity I can confirm May 9 months after a summer holiday and September 9 months after Christmas!

HarrietSchulenberg · 06/01/2026 23:09

Late October to end November. Previoys Februaries have clearly had plenty of nights of crap weather with nothing on the telly.

Bbq1 · 06/01/2026 23:31

My ds is September born as is my niece and her ds.

Saisong · 06/01/2026 23:51

September for us for sure, but Feb is actually a fairly close second. I have one DC in each!

Sept 27th is the most popular with 3 family birthdays and 3 close friends. DH is also the day before!

somethingbeginningwithb · 06/01/2026 23:55

It used to be March - myself, Mum, Dad, Nana, Granddad and my Great Aunt. All except my dad have passed now.
