Wtf is it with passport photos I look like I m on the wanted list

Just spent half an hour trying to get a good passport photo to upload and every one of them I look like an angry collapsed face criminal
I just wanted a decent photo for once my passport photos always show the worst of me I just can't do straight face photos.. give up I'm pissed off now and will have to upload another shit photo

DH looks like a fat cartoon burglar on his. At least I'm just your classic serial killer in a bad mood. Okay, the ghost of a serial killer, as my skin and hair are quite pale.

Ds passport made him look like one of those kids from Victorian workhouses, sunken eyes and 100 yard stare. He was pretty cherubic in real life so I made a better effort for the next one and he just looks like he’s going to grab your phone and fly off on an e-scooter. But after the faff I was doing mine at the same time and remembered to have my hair down and some eyeliner on. I look like the woman that runs the gulag and haunts the nightmares of people so escape. Twice my kids have been pulled away and asked if they know who I am and do they want help to get away. I mean we are all colours of the rainbow but no one else is dragging the mardy bastards through an airport.

I had an absolutely awful one looking like a cross between Gollum and ET. I handed my passport in to my new Manager at a new job for the ID checks. She opens the photo page, looks directly at me and says "oh most people don't look like their passport photo but you really do".

I left that job shortly after.

The saying is - if you look like your passport photo, you're too ill to travel!

It's the same with work ID cards. I accidentally left my handbag in a taxi after a work night out and the lovely driver dropped it into a police station near work. I got a message from reception the next day saying that I could go and get it. I popped up in my lunch hour with a mate, and they opened it, got out my work pass, looked at it and at me, and handed me the bag. I was glad to get it back but nearly cried from mortification and my friend nearly died laughing. 10 years ago and she still reminds me.

My old passport photo was amazing, I smized (Tyra Banks’ trick on ANTM where models smile with their eyes so they don’t look like serial killers while pouting). My current one is awful, I couldn’t smize, I took it myself at home after about 50 tries and have a slight frown as I’m concentrating on where to press the button. It was the only photo not rejected by the technology so I had to use it.
Kids’ ones are so funny, they don’t know how to not smile for a photo. DD aged about 7 got told she looked like she’d been kidnapped in her photo, all wide eyes and slightly panicked expression. DS aged 5 told me he was pretending to be a soldier for his. Baby photos are ridiculous as well, it could literally be any bald, fat dribbling baby and bears no relation to the now 3 year old at passport control. 😂

My 9yo looks like her head is on squint in hers. Looks nothing like her. The 5yo just looks like a pissed off baby potato. Again nothing like her now as she was 11 months when it was taken.

Yes, baby photos in passports make no sense. All the passports look like drooling Winston Churchills, and the 3 years old look vastly different. Bonkers.

Back in the day I just had my name written in a line in my mum's. Yes, she could have carted any baby through instead of me, but the same still applies today, and you have to pay for it!

Yep I used to be on my dad's passport first time we went abroad and that was only 1998 so not a million years ago. Then I wanted my own as my friend was coming on holiday with us and all they done was put a line through my name.

Although my mum said way back in the day her and my dad were on the same passport.

OMG we just went through this. My attractive 22 year old son looks like a mug shot and my gorgeous 20 year old DD looks like she has a major sulk on. I look like a middle aged hag - I thought I was smizing but no. You get like 9 tries in the Photo Booth and I looked dreadful in every one.

Exactly and the reality is, my partner will probably see me unsmiling most of the time looking my worst so they might as well get used to it 😂

I had a terrible photo a few years ago so this time I went with my hair done (wavy so not so severe) and a hoot bit of makeup (but not enough that I didn't look like myself). Still came out with a picture that would t look out of place on the FBI 's most wanted list.

Aileen wournos probably looks better than some of our photos as she looks like she has a wee smirk going on. It's probably a "I know where I hid the body and I'll never tell" smirk, but still, looks more approachable than i do in my passport.

Mine gets renewed this year. Horrified at the thought of preferring my old picture.

My passport photo is generally considered the most comically unflattering one ever taken. I once had a terse exchange of words with the passport chap at Shipole Airport who failed to suppress his smirk at my photo. Git.

I take consolation from the fact that DD1 (who is head turningly pretty) looks positively sinister in her photo.

My passport is passable, did the picture at home and made my husband take about 4000 shots until one of them looked acceptable.

The one on my driving licence done by the Post Office lady is strikingly similar to the mugshot of James Brown when he was arrested for driving on PCP, which is some kind of achievement for a middle aged white lady. The woman at the Evri shop laughs at it every time I go for a Vinted parcel. Last time she even said “I know it’s you, I just don’t understand how you can look so bad” whilst cackling.
