Wtf is it with passport photos I look like I m on the wanted list

Just spent half an hour trying to get a good passport photo to upload and every one of them I look like an angry collapsed face criminal
I just wanted a decent photo for once my passport photos always show the worst of me I just can't do straight face photos.. give up I'm pissed off now and will have to upload another shit photo

I am very pale and tend to look completely washed out in photos so I put on extra blusher, did my brows quite dark and red lipstick for my passport photo.

As a result, I look like someone has tried to dress up like the clown from IT for halloween and then been arrested for armed robbery.

As a teenager I was told that my passport photo made me look like a Baader Meinhof terrorist when flying into Dusseldorf airport. Many years later, I drunkenly googled and if I'm being honest he may have had a point.

My current passport photo gives distinct "I torture people for fun" vibes. Apparently I look like I'm AWOL from the FSB. Dh kindly suggested if he didn't know I had Russian ancestry, one glance at my passport picture would have told him.

I look Aileen Wornous in mine. And not the Charlize Theron version.

I once had a passport picture so bad that on entering Ireland the Garda gathered round, looked, laughed , called their mates and took my passport to the back office for more laughter, before handing it back. 😮😬

I look like I have just been released into the community. I think the only way to get a decent one is to pay a professional photographer.

My DH looks like a criminal in his too. He’s wearing orange and it makes him look like he’s in one of those American prison jumpsuits 😂

Being as so many of us look like serial killers/terrorists and the like in our passport photos (and presumably aren’t) I am now wondering what actual serial killers etc look like in theirs. Do they all look like perfectly lovely law abiding folks do we think?

It's a fair point. If I were an immigration/customs officer, I'd being pulling anyone with a decent photo aside for a 'chat'.

I’ve always looked like a potato with a face drawn on but now I’ve got two very young children I look like a tired potato who has seen too much. Thank god I wear glasses because after 45 mins at the hairdressers I feel ready to have a face transplant, and that’s without being able to properly see myself as take specs off. I am dreading next year’s passport renewal

I honestly look like a Russian child smuggler in mine - even dp said ‘oh my love I think you’re making yourself look ugly on purpose- you do realise we will get stopped at every airport now with that photo’.
i am just not photogenic if ever I get kidnapped the police will think the kidnappers have looked after me really well once I rescue myself ….. there’s no hope of anyone else rescuing me cos they’d be looking for a Russian child smuggler.

Made the mistake of wearing a black polo neck jumper. For ten years and the numerous countries visited - I had no neck.

I feel your pain. DH took my passport photo at the weekend and he said it looked like a mugshot from Prisoner Cellblock H. The worst of it was that it bloody did.

Yep. I had one taken in the post office photo booth when they did it for me (for a driving licence,) 2 years ago. I look like a bit fat lifer from Holloway Prison. I look 15 years older, 20 pounds heavier, and have 2 extra chins.

Oddly, when I took a passport one for myself for my passport (with the digital camera, at home, against a magnolia wall,) it came out fine.

I think passport photos should be used on dating apps. At least then people know what they are in for 🤣

Same here. DH says the most recent one looks as if I just pulled off my balaclava after a bank robbery.

I see photos of myself scrubbed up on a night out and think I’m reasonably attractive. And then I renew my passport and I look like the fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down just before I’m carted off to cell block H for my mugshot. And I look so miserable that there’s corpses either more cheerful faces!

I look like I've lost all hope and am just waiting for someone to put me out my misery. It's truly awful.

I had a Spanish passport checking guy look at my photo, tut tutted, shook his head and sadly waved me along.

When we last renewed my DDs passport she was about 10. For some reason we did the photo at home but didn't have a suitable white wall. We did however have a large white desk. So DH got her to lie on it and took the photo from above.
It is the most spectacularly awful photo ever with her face kind of contorted by her lying down. I'm not sure why we went ahead with it - I can only think we must have been in a rush.
She is very glad that it runs out this summer so she's getting a nice new properly taken photo.
