A big city

Nw England for ease of getting to Northern soul niters.
Not the 700 -900 mile round trips we endured.

NotrialNodeal · 03/01/2026 18:25

It's not something I ever thought about growing up.

JDM625 · 03/01/2026 18:25

Exactly where I grew up!

NormasArse · 04/08/2026 16:57

Weirdly, a house close to where I live now. I imagined myself leaving it every morning, with a briefcase, and getting into a saloon car to go to my important job.

I never had a briefcase, and a saloon car would be rubbish for the dogs.

London.

I grew up in a very remote, rural area but dreamed of living in London from my teens.

I moved to London at 20 and spent a fabulous decade there. I moved back to my backwater home town once I had children, raised them and am going to move back to a city as soon as they leave home.

The top of the faraway tree

CypressMoon · 04/08/2026 17:03

London. I fell in love with it on my first visit aged 6.

GOODCAT · 04/08/2026 17:05

Very rurally

Sesame2011 · 04/08/2026 17:07

America

Hawaii … first colour tv program I saw !

PoesieAndPeaches · 04/08/2026 17:12

London. I got close enough to visit regularly, work there sometimes and had lots of friends and relatives there.

I still live in a rural town within walking distance to a direct train, 1 hour into London.

Meadowfinch · 04/08/2026 17:14

Somewhere rural, and as far away from my parents tedious small minded suburbia as I could get.

I spent four years in London saving a deposit, then moved to a tiny village. Nice friendly people. Clean air, huge skies. Bliss 😊

Port1aCastis · 04/08/2026 17:16

Stay here where I grew up but as a child I wanted to live in the lighthouse.

MakingLasagne · 04/08/2026 17:19

Anywhere except where I grew up.

Lived in a few cities and now raising my children… in the place I grew up 😂

Turns out the very things that make it unappealing as a teenager make it extremely appealing for raising a young family…

YogaLite · 04/08/2026 17:24

By the sea, not going to happen though

Cherryblossomcottage · 04/08/2026 17:27

A big city! Lived in a city for uni with dh and was so ready to move back to our small town at the end of the three years. I live about 1km from my mum and dad and similar from my siblings, wouldn’t change it for the world!

Aydel · 04/08/2026 22:26

Right where I am living now. We came to London on a museum visit when I was about 11, and when we were waiting for the coach, around the corner, I said, when I am older, I am going to live on this road.

Poppycorn123 · 05/08/2026 03:00

Australia. Everyone in my class did! We grew up watching home&away. Nowadays my Aussie friend thinks it's hilarious how popular the show is here.

MrsMariaReynolds · 05/08/2026 03:20

(Keeping in mind I grew up in a medium ISH sized city in the American Midwest) As a kid, I wanted to live in a BIG CITY---London, Chicago, Toronto.

I live in Norwich 😂 But I'd happily move to London once I win the lottery.

Natsku · 05/08/2026 04:02

Finland. And now I do, moved here when I was 20.

GarlicAnywhere · 05/08/2026 04:15

London! And I did! Never should've left.

Love this

concertinacornflake · 05/08/2026 05:29

A very small cottage with a whimsical name on what was originally a village road before the village joined up.

Crushed23 · 05/08/2026 05:33

London.

Moved there as soon as I could.

Had a glorious 12 years there before emigrating.
