You're evacuated from your home , your overnight bag only contains what is directly to the left of you , what is in your overnight bag?

A cupmat and a remote for the fire.

Ooh, my lucky day! It’s my dressing table and drawers - skincare, toiletries, makeup, medicines, clean undies, clean PJs AND a swimsuit - can I evacuate to a spa, pleeeaaasse.

OMG - I’ll be ready in seconds! Just noticed glasses and a book too. This is going to be FAB! Thanks OP 😆

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 01/01/2026 16:57

My fat cat. She’ll make a good few meals I suppose.

Maryberrysbouffant · 01/01/2026 16:57

Some earplugs, moisturiser, face wipes, oestrogen gel, asthma inhaler and deodorant. That’s a pretty good survival bag tbf!

Not wanting to piss on your parade here as it’s a funny little game to play in a sense. But as someone who has once been evacuated from their home…I find this triggering is all. Just wanting you to keep that in mind.

It’s a great game to play. If people avoided everything someone else might find ‘triggering’ then forums wouldn’t exist. They wouldn’t be able to exist because no one would be able to express any opinion.

Life will become very tedious if we’re all pussy footing around trying not to upset people. We’ve all had, or will have, bad experiences and traumas, it’s a fact of life.

No doubt someone will be offended or ‘triggered’ by this post, or find it rude or lacking empathy. That’s a them problem and they need to find some resilience (AKA get a grip). You know you don’t need to succumb to ‘triggering’ and wallow in self pity don’t you? People have managed this for generations without it becoming ‘a thing’.

Well, I would have to extend it beyond directly, which is a sofa cushion. So then it would also be my lovely Dog, which would be an essential and my Christmas tree which I would probably not choose to bring🤣

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/01/2026 17:11

Mr Monkey, a sofa cushion, a dish of salted almonds, a tube of Palmers cocoa butter handcream and a glass of sour cherry beer.

LOL at the triggered poster. I have been evacuated from my house in an emergency (the half built block of flats behind us caught fire in the early hours). I had to sit in a council rest centre with Red Cross "refugee" number pinned to.me for 10 hours in my PJs and big coat in January. All I managed to grab was my handbag so had my phone, travel pass, purse and door keys. Not ideal but ok. We got cheese sandwiches and tepid tea!

Our flat STANK of smoke for days afterwards and was covered in filthy soot. We had to wait until tbe next day for the gas and electricity to be turned back on.

TroysMammy · 01/01/2026 17:14

My phone, my cat and a cushion.

Anotherdayanothernight · 01/01/2026 17:31

Cat, Prosecco and a book

leporello · 01/01/2026 17:32

Mobile phone, TV remote, a Christmas light-up candle, a bottle of long matches, a blue ceramic fish, a dish of pot pourri and a bottle of Christmas-scented essential oil to sprinkle it with, a resin tiger cub, a pink plaster dish with a cat head made by dd2, a painted bowl with a tealight in it. Most of these were gifts from DC on a small table to my left. I won't be short of candlelight at least.

The Paw Patrol lookout tower 🤦🏻‍♀️😬

The cost of that thing I'd be getting it out too! That and my son would never forgive me for losing it.
I would have my child and a cushion

DancingNotDrowning · 01/01/2026 17:40

I’d do well as it’s my bedside table and a bag of Christmas gifts so I’ve got:

my watch and assorted jewellery
nightcream
phone and charger
ipad and charge
oura charger
a handful of change adding to about £20
3 books
a tube of smarties
a chocolate Santa
some turkish delight
some posh chocolates
cashmere socks
leather gloves
note pad
eye mask
vitamin B & D sprays
ibuprofen
a can of Diet Coke

MarvellousMonsters · 01/01/2026 17:43

Dog and large fluffy blanket. I guess I’d stay warm at least!
