@Upsetbetty, I am sad that this thread has triggered you but the title of it was very clear. I too have had to leave my house suddenly, with my young sons and just the clothes on our backs (ex-bastard moved back in).
I now have a Go Bag for myself and one for the dog. I am finding the responses of other posters interesting and comforting.
