Large poo stuck in waste pipe

Strawberrydelight78 · 01/01/2026 13:45

My lovely son has done the biggest poo known to man this morning in our only toilet.πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆIt has flushed but is stuck in the waste pipe. I’ve done everything suggested online put washing up liquid down poured a bucket of water down and bicarb and distilled vinegar and plunged with the toilet brush. But the water is still coming up quite high when flushed. I am trying to clear it before anyone else needs to use it. He has autism and is totally unaware of the drama he’s caused. Any suggestions of anything else I could try please? And Happy New Year.

A robust rubber glove is your friend……….glove on, hand around the offending turd, and quick squeeze……….job done! πŸ‘πŸ’©

You need a Poo knife 🀣🀣
Oh and get your son in there to sort his own shit out πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜†

Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ve been pouring lots of buckets of water down to try and break it up. We’ve used for number ones and put loo roll in the bin to prevent further back up. The water is slowly going down when flushed so slowly getting there. Honestly I have never seen a poo like it, it was literally stood up in the toilet and so fat. DS is 24 over 6ft and slim but has an enormous appetite.

Well, if its of that magnitude it would be a case of just getting your hand down there and breaking it up. There are worse jobs.

Dollymylove · 01/01/2026 14:30

Why is your adult son not sorting this out himself?

Why is your adult son not sorting this out himself?

Because he has additional needs

@Dollymylove why don’t you read threads properly?

LonginesPrime · 01/01/2026 14:34

Can you get hold of some bleach, OP? Maybe from a neighbour?

Breaking it down chemically as well as physically forcing it (with water/plunging) will help.

Why is your adult son not sorting this out himself?

He has severe autism and is non verbal. And no it’s not a drip feed. I did say in my OP that he is autistic and doesn’t understand the drama he has caused.

Re: plunging.

You get a really good seal if you wrap a plastic carrier bag round a plastic bleach bottle and then use that as your plunger. I'd pour the bleach down the loo first and then fill the bottle with water to add weight.

Use a mop as a plunger.. Guaranteed to work..

2l pop bottle. Cut end off. Hold by top end (with top on) and use as plunger. Don't go mad with it!
Throw bottle away in bin after wrapping in a plastic bag.

Glad you added the throwing the bottle away tip. OP may have used it as a drinking vessel πŸ˜‚

MissDoubleU · 01/01/2026 14:36

Was it anything like this?

Shodan · 01/01/2026 14:38

After many years faffing around with bleach/plungers/hot water etc etc on this kind of issue I gave up and went for the simplest, quickest method of removal:

Stick your hand down there and shove it through, breaking it up beforehand if necessary.

Also helps with blockages caused by over-enthusiastic use of loo roll.

ChamonixMountainBum · 01/01/2026 14:39

At the very least take a photo and load it up to ratemypoo.com

Poor guy. He must have been so uncomfortable and withholding as away from his usual space.

Hope you get it resolved.

As the parent of a 6 year old who manages to produce similar size offerings on a regular basis, I don’t think there’s much substitute for a hand if you can reach out. It’s is by far and away my least favourite part of parenting.

I had that exact same thought too!!

Fullofthejoysofspring · 01/01/2026 14:41

This happened in our house a few days ago. Flushing and poking weren’t really doing much so my brother told me to put a load of bleach down then leave for an hour. I scoffed at him and googled emergency plumbers. He was actually right!! It might work for you too?

Kibble19 · 01/01/2026 14:42

Oddly invested in this drama.

Why is your adult son not sorting this out himself?

Even if OP’s DS didn’t have additional needs, why does it matter who did the poo?

How many people do you think are going round deliberately doing massive poos in people’s toilets to screw them over?

The toilet still needs to be unblocked and the household obviously needs advice on what to try. Why does it matter whether OP or her DS posts on MN to ask for help?

Would you suggest OP and the rest of the family just ignore it and go and stay in a hotel until the pooer has managed to clear the blockage, or should they all just use the garden?

Catwoman8 · 01/01/2026 14:44

I would keep putting bleach down the loo to help break it up.
