Anyone want to share something really lovely that happened to them in 2025

I had a health scare in the Summer and was fast tracked through the NHS. This year I have had top to toe internal and external tests. Not only has everything come back clear but I have also been told all of my internal organs are working well. I lost my Dad to cancer when he was really young, so to get to my 80s and be fit is a wonderful feeling.

Just before Christmas Eve, I found out that my cat, who had been missing for almost 3 years, was still alive and had been looked after for most of that time bar one month after he disappeared - amazing. I am so happy to know he is safe.

I went to Australia and fell in love with the place

I lost over four stone and about halfway through that my daughter asked me one day why I always laugh at everything. I think that's when I really realised how life changing it was. My daughter was seeing me as someone who laughs a lot.

After 7 years of stress, I passed my viva voce for my PhD with minor corrections.

Husband has been ill and I've had so much support from friends and neighbours it's been really quite astounding,I've been so touched

Twodogsisbetterthanone · 01/01/2026 15:55

I’ve lost almost 5 stone, with the aim of starting horseriding again in January

Started a new job with a £7k payrise. It’s really hard and a bit full on, but I like it.

Nighttimeistherightime · 01/01/2026 16:10

Stepped down from an extremely stressful senior role, went part time, took my pension early, paid off every single penny I’d ever owed and lost 6 stone.
It was quite the year- I made good, good decisions!

ThereAreOnlyShadesOfGrey · 01/01/2026 18:06

i had a heart transplant. Have made a good recovery, and now if you didn’t know, you wouldn’t know.

But without someone deciding to donate their organs and having sadly passed, this would not have been possible, so my gain has come at the price of someone else’s loss.

I had a novel traditionally published! I also received a promotion at work that means we can move to Norway this year. My DH is Norwegian and we've been planning this for years - we assumed it would be late 2027. This has sped things up and we're so unbelievably excited!

First Grandson/child was born, he is the light of our lives, never have we been so obsessed with a little one

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 03/01/2026 07:52

I was with DM when her consultant told her “Mrs Ibiza, your bloods are normal and there is no evidence of cancer in your body”.

My lovely dd got the A levels she needed for her course at university. Not a red brick one but absolutely perfect for her.

SusanSHelit · 03/01/2026 08:09

Two of my cousins (we are very close) married absolutely lovely women, one of them is now expecting!

I purposefully lost almost four and a half stone and feel significantly better for it. I'm still only half way to my goal and quite excited to see just how much more energy I have when I get there

I got a really meaningful tattoo that also happens to look totally badass (imho of course)

Ds started secondary school, which I was a little worried about, mostly because of my own experiences, but I needn't have been, he's absolutely thriving there. R

2025 had a bumpy start and bumpy ending for my DD but the result is that she now lives with me full time. It’s such a relief. We’ve got more adventures planned for this year. Can’t wait.

I learned how to say “no”… very liberating!

phallusfallacy · 05/02/2026 23:42

We fled DV over a decade ago. In December after too many temporary addresses (refuges, hostels etc) DC and I finally have a permanent home 😍

RightOnTheEdge · 06/02/2026 00:07

That's brilliant @phallusfallacy! I wish you and your children good luck and happiness in your new home! 🏡 ❤️

LarryStylinson · 06/02/2026 00:30

I lost 9 stone, celebrated a 2nd year in remission from cancer and fell in love with an absolute Green flag of a man.

IAmNotPrepared · 06/02/2026 00:40

I fell pregnant after a previous loss and fertility treatment, and had my gorgeous baby boy in November. I also found out my two best friends are pregnant so we will overlap part of our maternity leaves!

aurynne · 06/02/2026 02:36

I got invited to join an organisation I had been really hoping to join, and it has opened a brand new world of possibilities in my work, domestic and international travel and networking with incredibly interesting people worldwide.

I'm chuffed!

Lardychops · 06/02/2026 02:56
