Anyone want to share something really lovely that happened to them in 2025

I had a health scare in the Summer and was fast tracked through the NHS. This year I have had top to toe internal and external tests. Not only has everything come back clear but I have also been told all of my internal organs are working well. I lost my Dad to cancer when he was really young, so to get to my 80s and be fit is a wonderful feeling.

Fantastic news for you @Rictasmorticia

Congratulations @Menopausio

We paid our mortgage off yesterday. Feels like such a milestone after paying a mortgage for most of our adult lives!

Just before Christmas I told my employer that I'm taking early retirement in the spring. The feeling of sheer relief and being able to shrug off the weight of responsibilty is indescribable.

We also got to see our lovely adult daughter perform with a London ballet company. After years of struggles with injury and long covid, it was a joy to watch her doing what she loves.

I retired from teaching after 29 years.
im loving it 🥰

I got to see the amazing Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens live.

I had a shitty childhood and his music was the only light a lot of the time, and I never thought I would ever get a chance to see him at all.

I don't have photos or videos because it was a phone free gig, but the memories will stay with me forever. A dream come true.

We bought our first house and we’ve finally been able to decorate our kids bedrooms. No more worrying about upsetting the landlord and we can finally live in a house full of COLOUR. It’s a lovely feeling.

SarahAndQuack · 01/01/2026 12:36

I got pregnant. Grin I've been trying on and off since I was in my 20s, recurrent miscarriage, fertility treatment, blah blah. I'm 41 and tomorrow I'll be 16 weeks pregnant. It's so nice.

Thank you.
huge congratulations to you ❤️

I had DS in February and he's been a wonderful addition to our little family. DD is an awesome big sister ❤️.
I've also been on mat leave for almost a whole year so that's been great too 😆

I was made redundant in May, a couple of days before my 50th birthday. Last time I was made redundant it took me 10 months to find a new job, when DH was made redundant it took him 2 years. We were unbelievably worried about how long it would take me to find something else. Within 6 weeks I had two fantastic job offers and started a new (better) job in September. It’s my absolute dream job, in fact I would have resigned from previous job to take it. As it is, I barely spent any of my redundancy pay out, had the whole summer off with DC, am on a higher salary, better company, fantastic colleagues and so much opportunity to develop. I didn’t think it would be possible at 50 so very grateful for it. I’m actually looking forward to getting back to work tomorrow!

That's so great to hear OP. I also lost my dad too young to cancer so it's a worry I have for the future.

For me, 2025 saw me have 3 baby losses. In October I became pregnant again and this time it has stuck - i'm now 12 weeks. This will be our 2nd child and for a while I worried we'd be staying at one. Over the moon to be having another!

Natsku · 01/01/2026 13:20

Oh some lovely things in this thread!

I got laid off in the autumn and was very worried because OH had had a breakdown and was barely working so my income was desperately needed, but someone I knew spoke me up to his boss then told me to call and ask if they have any jobs going (company wasn't actively recruiting). I called and got the job and my stress was over.

wildblue07 · 01/01/2026 13:20

What a lovely thread! So happy to hear your health issues are sorted OP.

My best part of 2025 was having our son who arrived after 3 failed IVF cycles and finally having worked on our 4th time. Our daughter is the best big sister and our family is complete ❤️

Meadowfinch · 01/01/2026 13:26

I had a whole year without ill health, redundancy, relationship issues or bereavement. Things went to plan.

Ds got A* BB in his a'level mocks. And he got a Saturday job which he loves.

That constitutes a bloody fabulous year in my book. 😊

WonsWoo · 01/01/2026 13:28

I did an OU foundation module and passed with a distinction. I also ticked a bucket list travel destination off of my list. I feel very lucky.

MrsNathanDrake · 01/01/2026 13:29

I got married!

NotrialNodeal · 01/01/2026 13:33

Had the best summer holidays of my life! The children are older now and so I was able to actually relax and have fun for the first time in my life as a mum!

Rockschooldropout · 01/01/2026 13:35

Congratulations on the clean bill of health that just be a huge relief x
I finished my cancer treatment in the summer of 2025 for breast cancer and also found out dd was expecting baby number 2 which was lovely news (due April)

laxydash · 01/01/2026 13:35

My best friend had a cancer scare and was checked out, she has young children and it was all really upsetting. Luckily she's fine and its such a huge relief and blessing.

FurForksSake · 01/01/2026 13:35

I had another big hip surgery, but found an amazing physio five minutes from my house that gets my conditions and is positive and helpful. I’ll be seeing him until he retires I expect!

saltnpepperchips · 01/01/2026 14:16

I was a birthing partner for my friend and took my son abroad on my own for the first time
