Anyone else up with a horrendous cough?

This is my third night in a row of not being able to sleep due to an absolutely horrendous cough and I’m just seeking some solidarity!! It started off a week ago today with a hoarse voice then progressed to a full-on cough, lots of post-nasal drip and my throat constantly needing cleared. Yesterday and today my sinuses have been painful and I’ve a terrible sinus headache that paracetamol is barely touching, I’ve also lost my sense of taste and smell today too. Glad I could still taste my Christmas dinner at least! I almost can’t take a single breath without coughing, I am sometimes dropping off to sleep but waking myself up choking with this cough. I’ve tried mucus cough medicine, saline nasal spray, Sudafed, and nothing seems to be working :( I’m so bloody tired and pissed off that it’s ruined my much-needed time off work!!

Several people at work have this superflu that’s going round and DP became unwell yesterday so I’m expecting it any day now.

Paracetamol, rest and fluids. Hopefully you feel better soon.

I've just got out of bed and moved downstairs as i'm keeping everyone else awake from coughing.

It's relentless and nothing works.

Same here, I’m parked up on the sofa downstairs as the coughing is so disruptive. It really is relentless tonight, I’ve no idea why it’s got so bad in the last 2 hours :( Hope you feel better very soon! 🌺

I’m up with it too. Propped up on lots on pillows in the spare room. Trying to sip lots of water but having a full bladder isn’t good when coughing so much! Also just googled ‘can you overdose on strepsils?’

I was reading some previous threads about coughs and a few people suggesting antihistamines - I then remembered I took them the last time I had a cough about 8 months ago and I think they did help…

Try a nasal spray. Avamys is the only thing that helped me. Hope you feel better soon, it's a horrible aul dose.

Yes I got this before Xmas and couldn’t taste Xmas lunch. Still can’t taste anything it’s been a week now. It is not the kind of relaxing break I had in mind away from work.

Yep I’m up, going to get a fruit tea now. Mine started on 19th with sore throat then Lost my voice and I’ve had an awful cough ever since then between dry and tickly mucus. Definitely worse at night. Done Covid test a few times all negative. Don’t feel terribly unwell and have managed to go to work But this coughing at night is really getting to me

Yes, started off tickly then went throaty with lots of nose liquid and headache! Mainly just sore throat now.

yep it's horrendous isn't it 2 weeks now it's slowly getting better go off ok then woke up chocking struggling to catch my breath then promptly cough constantly for an hour .Finished antibiotics and steroids not sure if i need another round lovely xmas break not

The fruit tea helped, didn’t cough at all while sitting in the lounge! Used a saline nasal spray and tried to wash out the snot, just finishing an Aldi stepson, and am back in bed now. Coughing slightly again once laid down but throat isn’t so dry and raw.

Just woke up with a really sore throat so I’m expecting to start coughing soon! I do work on children’s ward. So I’m always picking up viruses and bugs. Luckily (or not) they always hit me on my run of days off!)
