Probably around 20c. That's in my room.

Partner thinks its great to have his bedroom window open and a fan on but he's a very hot person. If you sit next to him you get too hot, he's literally the epitome of a hot water bottle. I reckon its the prescription drugs he's on, either that or his always running a fever.

Sometimes I venture into his bed for an hour, the dog inbetween us who is shivering under the duvet because its so cold but I can't sleep as I'm too cold. It must be around 2c in his room!

Ineffable23 · 27/12/2025 06:54

The bedroom starts off about 16 and drops to about 13 overnight. This is good for sleeping but bad for getting out of bed. I do somewhat regularly wish I had a smart thermostat.

Makemeanonymous · 27/12/2025 07:09

No heating on in the house over night and I sleep with the window open. I can't sleep if there isn't fresh air in the bedroom.
It does get cold in the bedroom in winter but i'm fine in bed.

Thinking back many years ago when I married my first H and we lived in a very cold tenement flat . We slept with the window open and woke one morning to find the glass of water in the bedside table had actually frozen solid.

RyanFudgingMurphy · 27/12/2025 07:14

17°C.

There's a lot of "research" (PR) on t'internet atm saying sleeping in a cold room with a heavy duvet and bedspread is beneficial to health. I suspect the environment lobby has a hand in this 👀.

PersephoneParlormaid · 27/12/2025 07:19

No idea but the heating is always off at night, and the cars are frozen this morning.

ExquisiteDressing · 27/12/2025 07:21

I can see on the app that downstairs where the thermostat is is 16°C. We have it set at 13°C overnight so it won't cone on unless there is an extreme cold temp outdoors, the sound of the heating coming on wakes me up as the airing cupboard backs onto our bedroom wall. We have the window and blind open a crack overnight in winter. 4 tog duvet but brushed cotton covers.

skippy67 · 27/12/2025 07:23

Heating off and window open all night every night in our house.

LunarEclipser · 27/12/2025 07:27

I don’t have the heating on at night. Just woke up and the thermostat says it’s 13 degrees. I have a very cosy bed with a fleece underlay, winter duvet and a blanket.

DinoLil · 27/12/2025 07:43

11 degrees. I've just put the heating on set to 19.

WhaleEye · 27/12/2025 07:45

our heating is off overnight. We have a window cracked open and it’s usually 13/14 until the heat comes on.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/12/2025 07:52

All these 4 tog people with windows open

shivers

15 tog and a fleecy blanket and windows shut

tho in summer I have a 4 and always covered but with window open and maybe a fan if 28

i feel the cold - always have - but even more so this winter as 7s lighter

DaisyChain505 · 27/12/2025 07:55

Window open 24.7 365

Love to sleep in a cold room with warm covers on.

PlazaAthenee · 27/12/2025 07:55

22°. Winter duvet and thick pyjamas.
I wake up cold if it's any lower.

Newbutoldfather · 27/12/2025 07:57

No heating on at night but 22 in day.

Drops to between 17 and 19 by the time it comes on again in the morning.

WoahThreeAces · 27/12/2025 07:58

No heating on overnight - it turns off at 9.30pm and comes back on at 6.30 in the week and 8am weekends. When I've been downstairs before the heating turns on the thermostat usually says around 15 degrees.
I personally can't imagine sleeping in a room with a radiator on! It makes me feel sweaty just thinking about it.

Gettingbysomehow · 27/12/2025 08:01

My heating is off at night I can't stand being too hot in bed. Its pretty cold here at night with a frost. I have a thin duvet and two cats cosied up to me. The cats have an electric blanket to lie on becsuse one of them is very old and I don't like her to be cold.
I grew up on a freezing farm and a boiling house makes me feel ill.

ShesTheAlbatross · 27/12/2025 08:02

No idea, but I never have the heating on overnight so probably less than 17

OttersMayHaveShifted · 27/12/2025 08:03

We never have the heating on at night, and we have the velux window slightly open.

SharonEllis · 27/12/2025 08:04

No idea. Never ever have the heating on overnight, and I am quite a cold person. On the odd occasion I have experienced heating at night, like at a friend's house, I've woken up feeling ill.

SharonEllis · 27/12/2025 08:06

To add I have warm pyjamas, 2 duvets, a blanket and a hot water bottle. I like to be warm, but warm in a cool room feels much healthier.

mazedasamarchhare · 27/12/2025 01:40

14 Heating clicks on at 12 degrees, or 6:30 am. We have a 4poster bed though, the super thick curtains and the ‘ceiling’ of the bed provides excellent insulation, so it’s very snug, without the need for heavy blankets. We change the bed curtains in the summer for lightweight insect proof ones, so we can have the windows open. I don’t know why four posters fell out of favour, they’re very practical!

This sounds like heaven!

mydogisanidiott · 27/12/2025 08:10

I don’t know but it’s quite cold as it the old part of the house which is freezing and we live (kitchen dining living room office etc) in the new part. The thermostat is in the new part and is set to 18 and goes off at 8pm I reckon it’s about 14?

I have a heated blanket though and it’s amazing.

RedRiverShore6 · 27/12/2025 08:12

Probably about 16c but I don't like heating on overnight unless it was about 10 or 12c

Cricketashes · 27/12/2025 08:12

No heating on overnight. My bedroom is currently 13 degrees. I wake up feeling sick if the bedroom is warm.

aphroditeflighty · 27/12/2025 08:14

I have a really old house, so in the winter it's usually around 12 to 14C at night, which is very comfortable for sleeping in, but I guess it's what you're used to.
