I loved my Tiny Tears doll when I was 7.
A few years later, it was the Fashion Wheel.
80s childhood Christmases were the best!

We always got a big box of Smarties each from my Nan and looked forward to that every year.

Humbugsweets · 27/12/2025 00:47

This is my First Love doll, still with her original dress looking pretty pristine, given that she's nearly 40 years old!

I had a Fashion Wheel when I was about 7 and loved it.. i was never allowed a girls world though, still not over it

I had Tiny tears one year, and Timmy tears the next year. I still have them. My nan knitted me lots of baby clothes for them the year I had Timmy bless her. I also loved having "oh penny" and "quints" toys. I still have all my "oh penny" toys too.

BitSilly · 27/12/2025 10:06

@Humbugsweets She's a beauty!

I also got roller boots and a typewriter, but those were birthday presents.
My sister loved spirograph and the dairy milk mini vending machine.
She was also a Care Bear fan, and My Little Pony.

I had a Kodak camera from my wonderful dad one year. I was over the moon. He also put £10 in a card one time & it was more money than I'd ever seen 🤣

Soonenough · 27/12/2025 10:24

A Barbie house between me and my sister. We each got Barbies and loads of outfits too. Must have great for my parents to have two girls close together to maximise the gift giving as we shared and swapped most things .

I loved receiving Lego.

And a bike - I was blindfolded before it was brought in, and told to feel it, before I saw it.

Wow! No one ever seems to remember Oh Penny! I have all my Penny’s pony club toys still, DS loves them!

I had some lovely gifts as a child - DM & DF always gave us wonderful Christmases. My best present was my favourite teddy bear, given to me by my DUncle for my first Christmas. I also remember DBro & I receiving walkie talkies which we absolutely loved.

Gliblet · 27/12/2025 14:22

The ones that stand out the most were the bike (complete with tinselly tassels on the handlebars), a My Little Pony 'Applejack', a knock -off Girls World (Zapf Creations) and the Guard Dog (little stuffed toy dog that had a secret pocket (up its bum 🤣) and barked when someone picked it up) but I don't know if I remember that because it was The Thing I Wanted that year or because mum has since told me several times it was a nightmare to wrap - she unboxed it, put the batteries in, reboxed it to wrap and every time she moved it, it barked 😆

Things I remember getting regularly were books, that brightly coloured bath foam spray stuff (Crazy Foam?), and colouring books and pens. We had a few really tough years financially though so usually if I wanted the toys that were on TV like Keypurs, Fashion Wheel, Sylvanian Families, GloWorms or a Mr Frosty I had to scour jumble sales with my pocket money saved up and hope for the best!

HangryBrickShark · 27/12/2025 14:31

Roller Boots, Girls World, Monopoly, Space Hopper and my bike. Loved them all and used them daily for many years as a child.

Those wete the days when kids weren't over stimulated with e-numbers and 50 gifts from Mummy and Daddy.

toastandegg · 27/12/2025 14:45

A pound puppy with babies in a Velcro pouch in her tummy and my fashion wheel

mathanxiety · 27/12/2025 14:56

Lego, pogo stick, and a ballerina Sindy stand out.
I spent hours and hours playing with all three, different years. The Lego in particular was an obsession for at least three years.

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 27/12/2025 14:59

A Sasha doll when I was seven (far right), and I’ve added to this as an adult.

ChristmasFluff · 27/12/2025 15:20

I was a child in the 1970s, and my best presents were a Haunted House Game when I was about 8, and a Girls World styling head when I was about 11.

The Haunted House Game went to a Christmas toy appeal during the miners strike, but I kept the Girls World Head until I was in my 40s, when I threw it away because the hair was full of spider babies.

I still get nostalgic about those two toys though. Bloody great they were.

jjeoreo · 27/12/2025 15:22

Bridal my little pony with a fibre optic tail. God that thing was beautiful

jjeoreo · 27/12/2025 15:23

Oh abd a pair of earrings. I looked up my mum confused and she said "the appointments today" - to get my ears pierced. I was 10 and over the moon!!

katscamel · 27/12/2025 17:27

A camera when I was 7ish i think and my own TV (black and white) a few years later. I also had a Tiny Tear, nice to know Im not the only person to still have her and a Fashion Wheel which was actually a real disappointment as I'd wanted 'Fashion by me" (where you got bits of fabric to actually make outfits).

VikingLady · 27/12/2025 17:38

Sindy house with the lift on the side. I still remember the excitement. It was so expensive that it genuinely hadn’t occurred to me that I might get it!

I still wish I’d got the A La Carte kitchen though. The one with the advert where a kid makes her dad Swiss roll with cold beans on.

Aintgointogoa · 27/12/2025 17:45

A dolls house. It had working lights in all the rooms and when I came down on Christmas morning it was all twinkly under the tree (too big to wrap up) It was a modern type bungalow house, not a fancy open fronted one, made from a kit by one of my uncles. I loved it and played with it for years !
@MarshaMarshaMarsha I love that kitchenette ! I had something similar. I remember you could actually light little bricks to put in the oven and warm stuff up on the hob 😱😬 imagine ! I walked past a toy shop the other day and saw a lovely kitchen play set - all mod cons tho, with microwave etc ! I was gazing at it for ages, really brought back memories ❤️

HeadyLamarr · 27/12/2025 17:54

Tiny Tears when I was 4. My favourite toy throughout childhood. My record player when I was 11.

As an adult it was the Le Creuset pan set I got at 24. Had those pans over 30 years.

BitSilly · 27/12/2025 18:33

Does anyone remember a board game called African Star?
We played that, and Monopoly and Scrabble all the time.
