  1. Getting all the washing done, dry and put away so it's not hanging round for Christmas
  1. Buying and wrapping some last minute presents
ArcticGrass · 23/12/2025 15:46

a) Fixing the downstairs toilet seat before visitors arrive - it was positively lethal to anyone who'd had a sherbert or 2...(and they will do).
Or
b)Reorganise his tool box (not a eumphemism) and the cupboard above the boiler the tool box goes in.

I don't know on this one! I'm thinking the washing is the priority as the presents could be done tonight he's already left it this late but it depends what your tomorrow is looking like.

Windinmyhair · 23/12/2025 15:50

A) Buying christmas presents for his parents and organising when to see them over xmas

B) Going to a phone shop to reorganise a phone contract which is not urgent nor essential, but might save us a bit of money.

QueenStevie · 23/12/2025 15:50

I gave DH his list and I had mine. Give him his due, he has done most of it already. He just needs to hoover upstairs. My list was mostly cooking and food shopping related. His was mostly laundry and bin related.

He did do the washing. He is a menace for last minute presents/wrapping!

  1. Checking that we have all the food items we meant to buy, making a list of missing items and buying them, sorting out the pantry, cleaning and refilling the ice trays.
  2. Cutting back an evergreen at the bottom of the garden and taking the trimmings to the dump, having a swift half on the way home. Oh wait, I don't think item 2 was actually on my list.

Moving the sideboard out of the dining room to make room for the second table to accommodate everyone on Christmas Day

or

Reviewing the extensive financial spreadsheets he keeps

Wrapping presents.

Optional CPD for work (he was not due to be working today).

LoveSandbanks · 23/12/2025 16:29

I’ve stood back this year and not “managed” as much as I usually do. Not even got the tree up. Asked him to clear the kitchen table yesterday and he moved one thing and then said he had no idea what to do with everything on the table and walked away.

Its almost comical.

The CPD of course! Very important that anything optional at work is done early and on a day off when Christmas is looming because Reasons.

All the food shopping, laundry, putting clean sheets on beds for guests, cleaning bathrooms, prepping food, entertaining the kids.

  1. Last minute shopping, washing and cleaning. Cooking for tomorrow. Tidying house, finishing wrapping.
  2. After mutually agreeing with his parents that they weren’t buying anything for us, and we weren’t buying anything for them this year, changing his mind and going to buy something at peak busy time and then saying he had urgent work to finish. (This time last year it was changing a toilet seat that didn’t need changing)
CurlewKate · 23/12/2025 17:02
