Over inappropriate behaviour towards women. Anyone surprised?

It was RB and bloody Jonathan Ross. Awful misogynistic phone calls to Andrew Sachs about how Brand had slept with his grand daughter. I believe Sachs had dementia at the time. Can you imagine how afraid he would have been to be getting these ranting laughing calls?

How JR has not been cancelled is beyond me. Both grown adult men and JR had daughters himself. Utterly disgusting.

I got the sense he married her because she was a prize - he was punching well above his weight and it did wonders for his ego.

She was probably love bombed and treated like a princess when they met because he did worship her. Then they married and he felt he now owned her so didn't have to make the effort. But still expected her to put in the effort to the relationship.

The fun for him was all in the chase because that's the ego boost, so he had to continue that because it's like an addiction to him. That left her almost surplus to his requirements, especially after she had a baby, and he was no longer the centre of her attention and he actually would need to put some effort into the family rather than being a self centered prick (noting the split comes about 18 months after baby is born).

I think the union with him and Lara was a mutually transactional one, more so for him as it helped dispel the rumours about him being gay as well as helping his career, resulting in more money.

I was reading my local news fb story about it. The comments from men are depressing to say the least, apparently men can't do anything these days without women reporting them ! These comments come from the same men who are shouting about protecting women and children from immigrants 🫤

I nad a situation on X after the Huntingdon train incident where because I posted about the fact that it was wrongly assumed that the perpetrator was a Muslim asylum seeker, a white British man told me he hoped to bump into me in the street so he could beat me up, another white man said to get behind him in the queue and when I said why am I as female supposed to fear immigrants when you are threatening violence towards me for absolutely no reason at all! I then got told "suck my dick w*e! These white men are the reason I darwnt have a profile pic on my social media or any freely available information about me!

Oh my god, that is horrific yes angry white men just want to punch their "own women" in peace. I have reported numerous to Facebook they are never removed and always meet community standards apparently.

Walliams writes his own books, no ghostwriter and he doesn't take well to being edited so you can trust that the bad stereotyping, racism, sexism and classism in the books are all his own work.

Baddiel also writes his own books. So does David o Doherty. Pretty much every sportsperson, chef, reality star or general celebrity has a ghost writer but the comedians are more likely to do their own work.

Some celebrities genuinely feel like they wrote their own books when essentially all they've done is told their ghostwriter they want a character based on them (little girl who loves horses, ballet, etc) and nodded along to a few of the plot ideas put to them.

The thing I haven't seen about Walliams yet is that his PR essentially acted as security on his school visits - but security for the girls at the school, not for him. Became a thing after an incident at one school during an award event. Most of the reports about him, which go back years, are from young women from his publisher's PR department and are both about what they've had to deal with from him and how he's behaved with others while they were working with him. Plenty of cases of him sending inappropriate messages to girls on social media too.

( Meanwhile I may as well say that the Scottish DT being mentioned on this thread despite afaik not being someone anyone has referred to is very lovely.and extremely gentle and respectful in person, haven't heard anyone who has worked with him have a bad word to say. Just my personal experience.)

Anyway there is a lot to come out on Walliams but a number of people have taken payments for NDAs so it will be interesting to see what actually emerges. The author Kiran Milwood Hargraves once posted a Twitter thread with all the stories she had heard (first hand) about Walliams and nothing came of it at the time. He and the Murdoch empire have been incredibly good at silencing people for a very long time. I hope this is the end of the run for him with this behaviour.

Edited

That makes sense re ghostwriters and comedians. Do you happen to know if Julian Clary writes his own? Ds2 liked The Bolds and he normally has good taste in books.
If Walliams writes his own that explains why the sexism etc is allowed to slip through, it never made sense if it wasn’t him writing it in any case.

TBH I don’t care if Marcus Rashford for instance puts his name to books and helps make them appeal to boys who wouldn’t otherwise read. I just hate the dishonesty of the whole thing and the fact that as a pp said, the celebrity gets the big cheque for doing nothing while the person who did the work gets very little.

I was on a thread here once where a woman was having a crisis after her husband was revealed he was on the down-low. She'd found a since banned Reddit sub for down-low men and was now suspecting all men.

I don't think it's that many but I think it's definitely a lot more than you'd think who are bi and sadly more than you'd think who are down-low.

Oh yes, I think it’s way more common than many realise! Some people really would never know as it’s such a wide range of men who are on the down low and some will do anything to go under the radar . I actually saw a Youtube video recently about a man in the states who killed his ex because she found out he’d been having sex with her friends male cousin. She had told others in their circle and someone posted it on Facebook and he just lost it with her.

I think he killed her out of hatred (many DL men do despise the women they’re with) but also to shut her up - which was obviously a very stupid move considering he’s now in the spotlight far more than before.

There were so many men in the comments blaming her for exposing him and saying she deserved it. I suspect some of them were either on the DL themselves or openly gay/bi men who enjoyed sex with DL men.

This is probably not remotely relevant but anyway...

I used to work in HIV/AIDS prevention programmes. We had a programme for 'men who have sex with men'. That is what it was called and was specifically designed for men who would never have considered themselves to be anything BUT heterosexual, but who enjoyed sex with men. That was a bit of an eye opener for me. We also worked with male sex workers and they were open about the fact most of their clients were married men.

@TheCountessofFitzdotterel Yes, Rashford doesn’t write one word of those books. There’s another authors name in smaller print on the covers under his - that’s who writes those books. I saw some of his fans a while back were writing on his social media posts - “stop wasting time on writing children’s books and focus on your main job.

I felt like commenting - I can assure you he is not spending ANY time on children’s books. 😂

Yeah, many men who have sex with other men genuinely don’t see themselves as gay/bi. Especially if they are “bottoms”/doing the receiving or it’s “only” oral sex they’re doing.

Blows my mind the mental gymnastics they do to convince themselves of this.

LondonLady1980 · 21/12/2025 09:19

The rumours about DJ wouldn’t surprise me at all.

The only Scottish DT I can think of is a ‘Dr’ and I certainly can’t imagine him as being a baddie???

And as for the another ‘national treasure’ that has been referred to, I haven’t any idea.

I think I’m just very bad at interpreting clues.

The levels of Cover Up that go on is absolutely terrifying ☹️

I am no longer on Facebook but I found similar issues on Instagram too. there’s been reports about the clear racial bias in their moderation systems.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1234746

Facebook ignored racial bias research, employees say

Researchers said the company ignored their work and then stopped them from pursuing topics related to bias altogether.

I think you have this the wrong way round. Men who are accepting a BJ or giving penetrative sex may argue that they are not gay. Remember the charming expression, a hole is a hole. Those who are sucking dick or taking one know that they really are not heterosexual.

I remember years ago there was a competition at the primary schools and the prize was the author helicoptering in. We commented at the time what on earth was everyone thinking - it’s always been obvious.

Interesting that the Mail online have published a story about one of the other rumoured dangers this morning. That won’t have been a coincidence. Whether it’s teasing another story or click bait remains to be seen.

I'm entirely against trial by media (both social and traditional media).

To be fair, the young Helen Mirren was both stunningly sexy and mainly known for her willingness to appear stark naked on film on a time when that was very unusual. He career was built on reactions like his.

Unfortunately it’s often “trial by media” that forces organisations to actually act and root out the men (or women) behaving badly. HarperCollins and the rest would’ve let this go on if they could avoid the bad publicity coming his/their way.
