How much do you spend on nieces / nephews?

I have 4 nephews and 1 niece on both mine and partners side of family. They range in age from 9- 17. im finding it hard with the older ones to pin point a price tag for gifts. My sister is very well off and tends to go crazy on my children which stresses me out. How much do you spend on your N/N?

£20 each on my husband’s side and £30 each on my side. My sister is wealthy and spends £100 each on mine but doesn’t expect that in return for her’s.

(We also stop at 18)

£15-20 each usually, all under 8. Not sure I’ll continue in to adulthood! One side of my family stopped giving me anything after 18, one uncle on the other side continued til maybe 23 or 24.
my sister spends similar amount to me - I’d never suggest anything over about £20. My brother (well, his wife!) used to send very generous gifts but now he has his own kid I suspect he may scale back a bit!

About £15 each, but two of them are in Australia so the postage equals the price of the pressie.

anyolddinosaur · 20/12/2025 11:37

if I had a relative in Australia I'd order something to be delivered from an Australian website. Our credit card does fee free overseas transactions but even if yours doesnt it might cost less than international postage.

DH still insists on giving his niece and nephew £60 each at birthday and Christmas and they are in their 20s and working.

OldBeyondMyYears · 20/12/2025 12:58

Nothing. We agreed to stop as it was getting silly 🤷‍♀️

ZenZazie · 20/12/2025 12:59

About £50 each but there are only two of them

2old4thispoo · 20/12/2025 13:04

£50 each, 4 DN.

5 across families, generally about £20-30 each (they're young though, will probably have to increase as they age).

Have gone a bit mad this year and it's more like £80/90 each as they're coming to stay with us and I am excited! We don't see them for Christmas every year

We have two delightful little nephews .Usually about £25.00 each plus a selection box or small tin of bics .They seem happy with that!

£20-30 per child for birthday and Christmas. We have 3 nieces and 3 nephews ranging from 6months to 12 years. The 12 and 10 year old nephews get cash. The others all get a gift that their parents have asked for. We send a list out in our family, ideas from £5-£70. We use some of the ideas on the lists for ourselves and our family and friends use it too so a good variety of prices and items at each price point means there's a choice.

OldiPhone · 20/12/2025 22:43

£10 each. Can get a lovely book or toy with that, or cash/voucher for the older ones. Stop at 18.

billiongulls · 20/12/2025 22:53

Well we have 13 on each side, so once a child hits 18, that's it. Up to 18, we keep it small, a stocking filler type gift.

BabyLikesMsRachel · 20/12/2025 23:14

Roughly £20. Probably like £17-23ish as wouldn't stick strictly to £20. Have 3 with another on the way. Highly likely to be a few more after that as well in time. If I could afford more I'd love to spend more but we can't. We only spend around that on each of our 3 DC.
