I am looking to take up something in the new year that I can from the comfort of my sofa that will replace staring at a screen.
I already read, listen to music and go to the gym.
Anyone want to share their off screen hobby?

Crochet
I'm also massively into board games, but this obviously requires having people to play with. If your DH is up for it, games like Carcassonne, Azul, and Ticket to Ride, are all beginner friendly.

I create artwork (albeit digitally so technically still using an iPad/laptop screen) but then turn them into badges, or earrings, or just digital prints. This does require moving off the sofa so I realise ticks none of your boxes but it does bring in a little income and I enjoy it immensely.

Otherwise, I've started learning how to knit which keeps my hands busy, or I read - something I never had time to do in my previous job but get a lot of pleasure doing it now.

Hi, would love your recommendations for two player games that I can play with DH!

Hive - like chess, but with bugs with specific special abilities. Easy to learn and portable.

Sky Team - cooperative game, two people trying to land planes without speaking. Incredible game, so well designed and super addictive.

Boo - Cat game, like chess + connect 4

A Little Wordy - best selling game. You spell a word, opponent does the same. Swap letters try to figure out the word by taking cue cards.

Patchwork - like Tetris with tapestry and buttons as currency

Splendor Duel - chip and card collection. Award winning, super addictive, strategy game

There are so many you're bound to find something that you enjoy.

Amazing, thank you @IceBrownie

I'm another who loves diamond painting. I find it so relaxing. You can get display books for them so I have a couple of those.
I do a lot of sewing/knitting related things. Jigsaws. Lego. General model building. Colouring and puzzle books. Drawing.
DS bought a steam deck a while back so I play on that some nights. There's a really nice hidden object game on there where you can make your own levels and upload them for others to play. I can spend ages doing that.
I tend to read in bed for an hour before going to sleep.

Crochet. I make huge blankets that are basically one big granny square. Dead easy, very satisfying and super cosy when lounging on the sofa of an evening.

I used to love a big jigsaw but we no longer have the space to have one out continuously. I miss doing them with my mum.

Get yourself a jigsaw mat. I have one that opens out with extra boards inside, the Porta Puzzle one, rather than the roll ones which aren’t great as every time you roll it up the pieces shift around. It’s easy enough to store under a sofa or behind some furniture. Worth the money!

Love a bit of cross stitch, the Emily Peacock designs are simple but fun and big enough to do in restricted light. Lego also a big one here but similar to another poster, have run out of room so Brick borrow sounds very exciting!

Knitting. It’s linear so you only have to think about the next instruction. You can follow a pattern so someone else has done all the maths. You have something to show for your efforts. If you don’t like it, unravel it and try again or make something else.

patience/solitaire online, keeps brain exercised!
actually took it up because didn’t want to be bored in hospital. Patience was only thing to do in boarding sch. yrs ago, so it doesn’t bother me going back to it i suppose?…& it’s free lol.
