I’ve tried to rewatch them many times, but I’ve still never been able to finish

for me it’s

Greys Anatomy
Lost

Then there are ones like Stranger Things that I just couldn’t get into even though it has so much hype around it.

Breaking Bad. The first series was OK but I couldn't get into series 2.

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 15/12/2025 21:53

I forgot the last of us!! Two eps and out.

Succession, only made it through one ep.

OttersMayHaveShifted · 15/12/2025 21:54

Oh loads! Breaking Bad, Killing Eve, Mad Men, A Discovery of Witches, Stranger Things, the new LotR series, the Game of Thrones spin-offs, Lost, Homeland. Lots more I can't remember.

Can't even remember what it was called but it was one where a load of people were on a flight that vanished into some kind of wormhole for 4 years and then reappeared. It started out really intriguing and interesting but just got completely stupid by about halfway through series 2 and by series 3 I lost the plot and never bothered finishing it. It was a shame because it was such an interesting premise for a series.

I gave up on Supernatural at about the same time as the PP who mentioned it. It all got a bit silly. It started out good with the let's defeat various supernatural beings, then they got too much into "Let's defeat the most evil demon ever!" "Oh no actually there's an eviller one!" "Turns out we need to fight the actual devil!" "Oh no, actually god is also evil, let's fight his agents" the writers never seemed to leave themselves any leeway for it to make sense so they just had to keep inventing such convoluted shit every new season.

Lol was coming on to say the same. S3 was a shitshow , such a pity as it started off decent.
Couldnt stand the character Mic, or ziek. They were irritating af

Oh and it was called manifest

Toucanfusingforme · 15/12/2025 22:35

Riot women. Everyone else I know loved it. I felt as if I was being beaten around the head with Issues That Only Women Understand. Every cliche going.
Last Only Murders in the Building series. Most things after two or three successful start believing their own publicity and stop trying to be original.
All soaps. Too depressing that any happy couple has to die/be murdered/cheated on.

DeftGoldHedgehog · 15/12/2025 22:38

Most TV shows, especially those with dozens of episodes. I have to really like something to be bothered to watch even six or eight episodes.

snugasabug75 · 14/12/2025 19:39

Yellowstone

Me too. DH loved every episode 🙈

justasking111 · 15/12/2025 22:44

Just about everything on the BBC. It's depressing or violent or worthy. Bad lighting and mumbling being the clincher to switch over

XenoBitch · 15/12/2025 23:05

Game of Thrones. I got to the penultimate series but was told to stop there as the last series was bloody awful.
So many people recommended Rick and Morty to me, but the constant belching did my head in so I gave up.
Lost was interesting to start with but I lost interest.
Walking Dead. Gave up on that a long time ago. Is it still going?
Line of Duty. I just got more confused.

FoxLoxInSox · 15/12/2025 23:19

Monster: The Ed Gein Story
Better Call Saul
The Wire
Wednesday

SingtotheCat · 15/12/2025 23:20

Down Cemetery Road. Character tropes and shit dialogue. I switched it off half way through the first episode.

giveyourselfapresent · 15/12/2025 23:30

Well, I opened this thread thinking there were only a couple I'd given up on, but actually, there are loads that have been mentioned that I also bailed out of.

Ted Lasso. First series OK, second series tedious. Hated that stupid episode with the coach going clubbing round London. I think after that I couldn't take the try-hard sickly sweetness and "we're so quirky".

The Wire. Sorry, I know it's revered, and I can see why, but it just doesn't grab me. I watched two and a half seasons because DH loves it. I can absolutely see that it's good, it's just not for me. It's a bit of a strange one because it's not a genre thing or a violence thing. I've watched and loved The Shield from start to finish.

Walking Dead - I was out after Rick left. I'd been watching out of sheer habit for a while before that, and that was the kick I needed to bail. Never liked the guy with the tiger who spoke in cod Shakespearean and all his lot.

I've tried a few times to watch Justified because I feel like I'll love it... if I can just get into it. No luck so far.

Omg, you're the only other person I have encountered who has watched The Shield! We watched it over the summer and absolutely loved it! I have a secret Vic Mackie crush, he's so bad but I can't help it!

EveryDayisFriday · 16/12/2025 05:42

I'm a big TV show watcher and have seen most of the long running shows, Greys/ The Walking Dead/ Supernatural, the last 2, I've seen twice.

However, I'm getting better at not continuing on on shows that don't grab me. I've not finished:
Manifest (sick of hearing about "callings")
Virgin River, Ginny and Georgia and Gilmore Girls (too sickly sweet)
Motherland, Shameless, Superstore
The Resident, House, Castle

the80sweregreat · 16/12/2025 06:00

The American Office.
At least the the original English one wasn’t as long and left on a high. I ended up watching the final American one and skipping so many seasons!
My sons loved GoT , but were disappointed with the ending. One hasn’t got over that even now , lol
Im getting back into Corrie after decades away, it’s so hard as you don’t know the back stories and even reading up online takes ages and so many different plots.
So many shows have too many seasons.
Dh loved Ted lasso , but I found it smaltzy ! Even if TL is a good role model and kind!

Sourisblanche · 16/12/2025 06:41

Gilmore Girls. I started watching it with dd but we just stopped around the start of season 3.

RedRiverShore5 · 16/12/2025 08:00

I tried Ted Lasso twice and couldn't get past about 5 episodes, everyone was raving about it so I gave it a good try.

onwardandupwards · 16/12/2025 08:06

Prison break
House
The witcher

He's such a great character. Really made me think a lot about why I kept finding myself rooting for him and seeing things from his perspective even after everything he did. Loved it!

NellieJean · 16/12/2025 08:28

Bunny Munro, lasted twenty minutes I thought it was vile.

Absolutely! You know from episode 1 that he's not a good man but somehow you still want him to keep those plates spinning. Don't know how he had the energy.

Such great writing and a great performance.

Shane I couldn't stand at the beginning but by the end he was so sad, it was awful.

Felt bereft when it ended.

Totally agree with yours! I loved the first season of Lost, but they ‘lost’ me somewhere around season three. Just get it over with already! And Greys—just far too many seasons for me. I prefer a limited series, the optimum being 4-6 episodes then done!
I have very little interest in Stranger Things but have been forced into it to be social with the rest of my family. It’s not really my thing at all. You are doing the right thing by giving it a miss.
Others for me would be House, Death in Paradise (both favourites of DH’s but I can’t stand the repetitive formats).

RenoDakota · 16/12/2025 20:30

Just remembered Gilmore Girls. Lorelai Gilmore is the most irritating character in any tv programme ever. All that arch, childish wisecracking is infuriating.

CalzoneOnLegs · 16/12/2025 20:48

@Soubriquet I gave up on stranger things when Winona Ryder was screaming and squealing it was just completely unbearable
