Anyone under 65 thinking of the flu jab

BlueberryOats · 12/12/2025 15:12

My local pharmacy had 6 under 65 jabs left today and doesn't know when they are getting any more in, so today is probably a good time!

They were going to phone people who had booked next week (me) to tell them to come in now.

Luckily, I figured it was going to be cancelled, as my covid jab was also cancelled today, so popped in.

Yeh no brainier tbh

CraftyGin · 12/12/2025 15:13

I went to Boots yesterday and was told that their stock was just for over-65s.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 12/12/2025 15:14

I'm getting DD17 done next week. She is the year above the ones that have it at school.

I rang a private GP and lots of stock.

I get a free one through work, so thought I might as well.

Chemenger · 12/12/2025 15:17

I got mine yesterday at Asda. The pharmacist said she thought they would run out at the weekend and she didn’t know when they would be getting more in.

Sidebeforeself · 12/12/2025 15:17

Yep but I dithered and now I can’t get one anywhere.

lostmywayrightnow · 12/12/2025 15:17

Cannot find one here either. Work used to do them but they have not now (they may regret this when no staff....)

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 12/12/2025 15:18

I had mine in October, paid for by work. Feeling quite glad now that I took up the offer.

drspouse · 12/12/2025 15:18

I get it due to my asthma. Ordinarily I wouldn't pay for it but I might this year. However now I'm wondering if I would get it due to being a carer, as well, because I got an early COVID jab for that reason.

itsnotfairisit · 12/12/2025 15:18

Had it three weeks ago. Pleased to have done so

PegDope · 12/12/2025 15:19

I got mine 2 days ago. First year getting it but the news reports prompted me.

24Dogcuddler · 12/12/2025 15:21

Had it weeks ago free on the NHS due to my Asthma. Booked at a local Pharmacy it was quick, free and painless.
Throwing everything at my immune system too patches, vit D spray Immuneace tablets. Been ill the last 2 Christmases goes straight to my chest. Probably RSV last year though.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/12/2025 15:27

Got it free from the NHS several weeks ago on grounds of being a carer for my very frail 93yo Mum, who has pulmonary fibrosis. I don't live with her but I visit very regularly. Still not eligible for Covid jab this year (she was) but sounds like flu is going to more of a priority this year.

anicesmellycandle · 12/12/2025 15:29

I'm booked in next week.

reluctantbrit · 12/12/2025 15:30

DH got his on the NHS due to asthma and I got one mid November, it's paid by work but I would have paid anyway. When I had my appointment the pharmacist at Boots received a lower stock than ordered and had to cancel appointments already.

We got them the last three years as did DD who had GCSE and then A-level to minimise chances of her getting ill.

I commute into central London 2-3x a week and the trains are a germ factory at the moment.

Plump82 · 12/12/2025 15:32

I've been trying since the end of Oct to get mine. Anywhere near that I can travel to hasn't had any appointments that I can make and now there's none at all till mid January.

BruFord · 12/12/2025 15:34

I’ve just had mine (I’m 51), had them for a few years now.

I travel a fair amount and really don’t want to risk getting flu as my elderly Dad is clinically vulnerable. Plus “real” flu, as opposed to a cold, is nasty, you could be really ill.

Bulbsbulbsbulbs · 12/12/2025 15:34

I paid for mine in Boots 2 weeks ago and got the last under 65 one. I've had the vaccine every year as I'm self employed and can't afford to lose income.

I have had a horrible cold for the last week, in bed half the day, can't do much at all. I think even colds are very nasty this year judging by mine. I had shingles this time last year so feeling hard done to as I love the run up to Christmas!

Sirzy · 12/12/2025 15:35

I’m 41, I get one on the NhS as a carer but if not I would pay for one. I work in a school so it’s a no brainer!

Berlinlover · 12/12/2025 15:42

I’m in remission from cancer and work in a supermarket, I got the flu jab in early October.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 12/12/2025 15:47

I tried a few weeks ago and nothing available. I checked on Wednesday and Boots had a number of appointments, so me and DH had the jab this morning, which we were happy to pay for. On talking to the pharmacist, she said they'd not had any for weeks and then suddenly got a delivery on Tuesday, which they weren't expecting, so availability for us.

cornflower123 · 12/12/2025 15:53

Yes, a few weeks ago. I'm 60 , not eligible for a free jab , but consider it £16 well spent. Flu is horrible.

vodkaredbullgirl · 12/12/2025 15:59

I booked mine for next week but they cancelled both vaccines, had to rebook another one at a different pharmacy.

popandchoc · 12/12/2025 16:06

My work give it to us for free and glad i did.

ViciousCurrentBun · 12/12/2025 16:07

We had ours almost 2 weeks ago, had to pay and was not hard to get one. Think the news of late has probably meant a big uptake.
