I am the latter, am trying to dust every day but with work / animals/ caring responsibilities it just gets left.
Im hoping that a daily 10 mins will save me the twice a week 50 mins to do it all.

Every day??

I go around with the feather duster once a month. Certain areas get dusted with an actual duster if they look dusty, but that is even less often.

Oh I might eat away from the table occasionally but the kids can’t 😂. It’s mainly because I absolutely hate cleaning, and i have to do less of it if food is kept to the kitchen and shoes are off etc.

I try to do the piano once a week (I teach on it so lots of pupils see it) but only dust the rest of the living room when it looks dusty. Rest of the house? Hardly ever 🫣

Isnt 'dusting' just moving dust around.

Wipe down, yes I can see the benefit in that even though I dont do it.

The worst thing is when I suddenly realise that a lampshade has a layer of dust all over it and the lightbulb, we have 5 lamps in this room alone, let alone the rest of the house.

My perfumes also get dusty, Ive got tons of them, now and then (probably yearly) I wipe them all down, it takes ages, I wouldnt do that more regularly.

You can use a slightly damp duster to 'catch' the dust. Also, you hoover afterwards to catch what fell onto the floor.

Urgh, this is already turning into a bigger job than I expected.

I'll leave it.

Well, I only dust and hoover once a month so not such a big job actually!

I 'dust' using the soft brush attachment on the vacuum cleaner on its lowest setting

jay55 · 07/12/2025 18:34

When I do a big clean. Which is not often. I live alone so no one else to care.
Cant imagine having the energy to dust every day.

Italiandreams · 07/12/2025 18:34

Mainly when visitors come too! Definitely do not have time in the day to do it daily.

RandomUsernameHere · 07/12/2025 18:35

Once a week.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 07/12/2025 18:37

I've dusted the living room thoroughly today, including using the vacuum cleaner duster attachment. And I've used wood cleaner on the floor. Some surfaces need dusting more often than others. When the cobwebs are dusty, that's a sure sign you need to dust 😉I vacuum everywhere every week and mop the kitchen and bathroom floors.

HostaCentral · 07/12/2025 18:38

Everything gets done once a week on different days. Any more that that is just unnecessary.

Yes Ive done that a few times and its mainly how I 'dust', certainly when those lampshades are full of it.

But really cant be bothered and when I try with smaller items the bloody things just go up the hoover

Pedallleur · 07/12/2025 19:08

What is this dusting of which you speak?

definitely the latter 🙈 life is way too short to be dusting every day with work and kids. the only thing that actually saved me time is running an air purifier. it catches floating dust before it settles, so i’m wiping surfaces way less. i’ve got a HEPA one from iDustmite (brand) in the background and it’s honestly given me so much free time. let the machine do the work
