I am the latter, am trying to dust every day but with work / animals/ caring responsibilities it just gets left.
Im hoping that a daily 10 mins will save me the twice a week 50 mins to do it all.

I damp dust one room every day, DS2s bedroom more often, so everywhere is done at least once a week but DS2 has dust mite allergy and asthma so I have to.

Twice a year? I dust a few times a week to keep on top of it as it makes cleaning so much faster.

What things are you cleaning that get dusty ‘a few times a week’?

Goldwren1923 · 07/12/2025 11:07

i have life to live, I don’t dust every day

ReignOfError · 07/12/2025 11:10

In theory, once a week. In practice, about once a month. Skirtings and cornices get done a bit more regularly - but not thoroughly - in spider season.

FestiveFruitloop · 07/12/2025 11:13

I dust far too infrequently, and usually only when someone's coming to visit.

My MIL once said to me about Xmas decorations, 'You just want to rip them all down, don't you, so you can clean?' Um, no.

dimple285 · 07/12/2025 11:18

I don't see how it could possibly be quicker to do it more often, you've still got to wipe just as many things down.

I put Christmas decs along the window sills and thought about how I really should have dusted first. I didn't though.

Tryingatleast · 07/12/2025 11:19

When visitors come or it irritates me. I have serious visitors coming this Christmas though, their house is showroom ready (no eating anywhere except kitchen table, no shoes inside etc etc). And breathe …

vodkaredbullgirl · 07/12/2025 11:25

Only what I can see with my glasses on😆

Bonden · 07/12/2025 11:27

You stop noticing it after three years, I find

Bambamhoohoo · 07/12/2025 11:28

I only dust a few times a year. More accurately i wipe down with a damp cloth

Denim4ever · 07/12/2025 11:32

DH does dusting and vacuuming once a week. If there's a missed bit - rare - or reorganisational dust or any extra need for vacuuming either of us would do as and when

Buscobel · 07/12/2025 12:01

I dust often, but I have the time to do it.

Dust If You Must
by
Rose Milligan

Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
Ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
Music to hear, and books to read;
Friends to cherish, and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go (and go you must)
You, yourself, will make more dust.

Thesummer · 07/12/2025 12:10

Every 1-2 weeks including skirtings etc. Our house gets dusty very easily.

I think of this poem every single time dusting is mentioned. It’s so true.

TheGrimSmile · 07/12/2025 12:18

TheGrimSmile · 07/12/2025 12:18

Yeah some SAHP who are really into keeping a very clean home for whatever reason.

TangoWhiskeyAlphaTango123 · 07/12/2025 12:20

When I see it

khfippjjj · 07/12/2025 12:20

I’m a “leave it for the cleaner” kind of person!

Staybymw · 07/12/2025 12:23

I don’t get dust anymore. Back in the day I used to dust but now it’s barely there. I wipe up sides that get stuff spilled on it or marks but everything gets used and moved about plus constant hovering. I don’t think the world is as dusty as it once was.

Purdyisnot · 07/12/2025 12:23

I'm the third option, see the dust and ignore it.

polly613 · 07/12/2025 12:24

V rarely. Maybe 4 times a year.

GoodBrew · 07/12/2025 12:24

FenceBooksCycle · 07/12/2025 10:39

Dust when I move house. Not in between. It's been 10 years now. If every horizontal surface is cluttered with stuff, there's nowhere for dust to gather. Win!

I have found my people.
