Gatecrasher, cream, sankeys soap, short glittery dress, silver wedge platform heels all the better to dance til dawn.

Water all the way, half an e, maybe the other half later, nicking my friend's menthol cigarettes to give me tingles as I came up smoking in the toilets, chilling out by the fire escape "absolutely muntered" or "chewing the wall" both phrases we used.

Making friends with random people, me and my friend saying we loved them and each other, eyes like saucers.

Doing a version of big fish little fish hanging off a podium dancing to fab "choons". Paul van dyke, Scott bond, oakenfold, sonique. God is a DJ, arms in the air, eyes skittering from side to side.

Leaving the club at 6am, taxi dropping me to a friends house where we'd sit up til midday smoking dope and listening to chill out tunes til we came down and slept.

My nephew sent me a clip from a club he was in the other week. Can confirm they do NOT do clubbing like what we did. Not a white glove or glow stick in sight and not a peep of a whistle. Disappointingly tame.

Spent my 90s clubbing in Birmingham and Nottingham. Can’t remember any of the names of clubs now.

Those were the days, we were so skinny back then as well 😂

Just to add, I went shopping with my teenage DD this week. All the stuff I wore to clubs are back in! Shame I don’t have the figure I had in my teens. Spent a lot of time a short satin spaghetti string dress. It was actually a nightie 🤭

For me it was a rock club, drinking pints of whatever was cheapest, or a bottle of Newcastle Brown, 10 Embassy No 1 and maybe the odd joint. Usually wearing a black leather miniskirt, fishnets, docs and a black lace top showing a red bra underneath. Too much black eyeliner, loads of silver jewellery and drowning in white musk perfume!

We all thought we were fat at a size 8 back then!

Um, not entirely. There’s been conversations in the past where things have been picked up on but she’s far more sensible and grown up that me, I don’t even think she can comprehend anything I used to get up to. This is the generation that can get an Uber home from school. They can’t get their heads round waiting for the first bus of the day to get home after an all-nighter.

I clubbed in late 80s to early 90s. I was in London, the wag club, Astoria, hippodrome, lots I cannot remember. I drank Malibu and pineapple and peach schnapps and cranberry (I know).

First time hearing Ripgrove coming up, then trying to stay up

dancing in heels all night then having a sit down and chatting to my new favourite people in the world when standing again it feeling like a thousand pins in the soles of my feet but I need to pop the the loo and then a good choon is playing maybe Professional Widow and I’m off again pain in my feet doesn’t matter and getting higher
