Who’s enjoying all the cheesy Christmas movies?

Some of them are so bad that they’re good.
I watched Christmas Cabin on Prime this morning while everyone else was in bed. It was so awful but entertaining.
Netflix seem to have the same ones they’ve had for the last couple of years or so. Maybe a couple of new ones?
Whats the worst and best you’ve seen?

Yesss! Started last night with a new netflix one 'champagne Problems' and then the holiday.

I'm not usually a rom com type, refuse to watch them. But love the Christmas ones.

But NOT love actually. And I have never liked it.

WhineAndWine1 · 06/12/2025 17:27

Best cheesy one is home for Christmas with Linda Hamilton.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 06/12/2025 17:31

I’ve watched these …the text before Chrismas, the knight before Christmas, klaus, Christmas chronicles, violent night and just about to watch click and collect. Loved them all. I’ll watch anything Christmassy. With or without my kids 🤦🏻‍♀️

martha79 · 06/12/2025 17:31

Not usually my thing but I've been in the mood for gentle, fluffy films this winter. So far I've watched:
Christmas on Holly Lane (absolute fluff)
Lost at Christmas (Scottish cliches)
Oh. What. Fun. (predictable but actually quite fun)

PegDope · 06/12/2025 17:35

They’re so bad they’re good.

Hot Frosty, My Secret Santa, Christmas Prince… the more the merrier!

Beeinalily · 06/12/2025 17:39

It's part of my December - no concentration needed if you're tired, you can just enjoy the visuals!

JetFlight · 06/12/2025 18:09

I enjoyed Love Actually when I watched it but I’d never rewatch it. Some good suggestions to look out for.

I tried the Lindsay Lohan one last year and it was awful 🫣 There's a new one with Kiefer Sutherland just out so I'm pinning all my hopes on that 🤞

If you want a good series, try 'Home For Christmas' on Netflix, it's brilliant 🥰

Merseymum1980 · 06/12/2025 21:29

Love them

Onefortheroad25 · 06/12/2025 21:33

I just watched The family stone. It’s not very Christmassy but had a great cast. It was a bit bizarre actually.

Fiftyandme · 06/12/2025 21:38

I always enjoy them

EveryDayisFriday · 06/12/2025 21:40

Watched Tinseltown tonight, utter cheese, I think it lives up to the Xmas trope hype.

Crunchymum · 06/12/2025 21:43

I watch Holidate every year. Love it.

applecrumblespider · 06/12/2025 21:50

Watched one with Cary Elwes and Brooke Shields last week. Compete tosh but nice and relaxing (it was set in Scotland so a bit more British than the usual US style).

bodyofproof · 06/12/2025 22:50

A castle for Christmas is ridiculously cheesy but I loved it

Didn’t read that before I posted! Same film

A Castle for Christmas on Netflix is my all time favourite.

MrsMAFs · 06/12/2025 22:54

Came on to add a castle for Christmas...really enjoyed it.

It’s on Netflix. It’s a cracking film. Re watched home alone 2 today.

I love the Channel 5 afternoon movies in December. I find the formula incredibly soothing.

💼 High flying business woman/man visiting their tiny home town for the first time in a number of years.
❄️ something happens that makes them have to stay longer than planned. Be it snowstorm or mechanical failure.
🪓 enter handsome local who happens to have a big problem that needs solving that the high flyer has just the right skillset for.
❤️ scatty home town bestie is here for the plot with their all knowing kids who begin to melt the previous stony heart of the high flyer

Shenanigans ensue, high flyer realises that there’s no place like home and actually baking cookies IS more fulfilling than negotiating contracts with international conglomerates. Falls in love with handsome local who reveals that actually they have a hidden past, they used to be a high flyer too! Save the Christmas tree farm/bakery/old mill/local inn from closure. Job done. Merry Christmas.

You missed out the bit where they have a misunderstanding and all seems lost….

mondaytosunday · 07/12/2025 16:21

There’s a place for these Hallmark movies, but I don’t watch them. I also hated The Holiday - two hours wasted, so guess I’m not the target audience. And doesn’t the cliché girl moving to a new town meeting handsome and very available boy right away who falls completely in love repetitive?

True! Insert mild jeopardy somewhere and jobs a goodun.
