anyone else unable to sleep?

I finished nightshift this morning and only slept for 2 hours… had a busy day getting all the housework done in the hope of get a decent sleep tonight but here I am wide awake, too warm and showing no signs of falling asleep any time soon!

Night shifts are brutal, I hope you can reset soon. I’m struggling as we have 3 kids including a breastfeeding baby, and my middle child is unwell. Fever, coughing and calling out frequently. So I’m struggling to sleep thinking I’ll be needed any second!

stupidannoyingtaxthing · 03/12/2025 03:01

I can’t sleep because I finally learned today who’s getting laid off from my team at work, and … it isn’t me. I still have a job. But some of my colleagues don’t, so I feel overwhelmed and queasy with combined relief for me (we really REALLY need my income) and sorrow for them 😭

Blueuggboots · 03/12/2025 03:03

I’m at work.

I didn't eat enough yesterday and my pancreas isn't happy, so I'm having some redbush tea, creamed rice and four dates.

The neighbour's combi boiler keeps firing up for a few seconds then stops so that's kind of annoying. They can't be washing up at this time and for nearly an hour.

sleepeasie · 03/12/2025 03:07

I wish I knew. Hope you all get some rest.

CarrierbagsAndPJs · 03/12/2025 03:13

Im raging. Silently.. my dad died and my mum is being manipulated and because I am the scape goat I cannot do a damn thing about it.

and my husband was also a dick at bedtime over something and nothing, which makes me very suspicious.

and workload at work is unbearable.

isitmytime · 03/12/2025 03:18

I’m always the same after nights I’m like a baby and if I miss my “sleep window” I’m up for hours and go into nightshift survival mode! I’m trying to read but I think even that’s too stimulating for my brain! I’m also starting to feel hungry I better nod off before I feel the need to raid the fridge.

I hope you all manage to get some sleep tonight.

@stupidannoyingtaxthingi can only imagine the mixed bag of emotions your going through right now. I survived redundancy years ago but felt so guilty for the colleagues that didn’t. I lost a fairly good friend because of it too

I used to hate the mix of day and night shifts. I was constantly tired! I’ve not done a night shift now for about 6 years.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer two weeks ago. Surgery Thursday this week. I am anxious and feeling a bit sorry for myself.

LoudSnoringDog · 03/12/2025 03:22

Sorry! Which I why I can’t sleep!

Flowertopz · 03/12/2025 03:25

I'm full of this virus/ cold and keep waking up coughing 😭 I just want a full night's sleep

Placestogo · 03/12/2025 03:32

DP really annoyed me today and i cant sleep because im too stressed about it

Peridot1 · 03/12/2025 03:34

I tend to wake up around 3 regularly for an hour or so. I’ll go back to sleep eventually. Menopause is the gift that keeps on giving.

piscofrisco · 03/12/2025 03:42

I’ve been an insomniac since I was about 17-sometimes worse than others. Peri has hit my sleep for 6 however. Plus Christmas stress, we have just moved and I’m home sick, family stuff, DH is snoring… and our puppy just got up and needed to be let out. I might as well give up as it’s unlikely I will sleep again now. I’m sort of used to it tbh, though I wish it weren’t the case.

piscofrisco · 03/12/2025 03:44

sending you best wishes for your surgery @LoudSnoringDog

Tofu35 · 03/12/2025 04:06

Ive been in a&e for 11 hours, no end in sight.

iamnotalemon · 03/12/2025 04:10

I had surgery today and in pain. Nothing major but enough to disturb my precious sleep

iamnotalemon · 03/12/2025 04:11

Wishing you all positive thoughts

DreadingWinter · 03/12/2025 04:14

Taking DD for a MRI tomorrow to see the extent of her cancer prior to major surgery. I hope the results are quick.

Velveletteslonleylonelygirlami · 03/12/2025 04:20

Sore throat and a disgusting cough that's kept me up all night.

AnotherSurvivor · 03/12/2025 04:22

I went for a routine checkup because I can't shift a chest infection and now I'm being investigated for lung cancer. I'm a single mum and tend to spiral in the middle of the night anyway, so this really isn't helping.
And my hip aches so I can't get comfortable.

Oxborn · 03/12/2025 04:27

Feeling poorly with some stupid coughing thing

Tinytotdriver · 03/12/2025 04:28

Early pregnancy nausea and anxiety. Plus my body clock is messed up from night shifts.

TurquoiseDress · 03/12/2025 04:28

DH got up for the loo almost an hour ago, he’s got a cold at the moment & was coughing lots/v loudly so it woke me up

He was a fast asleep a couple of minutes after loo trip whereas here I am still awake, very frustrating…I have a busy day coming in the morning!

livingonaprairie · 03/12/2025 04:45

I'm in hospital with DS, who is having a liver biopsy tomorrow/today. The pull down parent bed is not good for my bad back.

kersh33 · 03/12/2025 04:51

Sorry to hear about all of you with medical worries. Hope things go as well as possible for you all. I’m awake because my DD is not well and was awake from 2-3 and I can’t get back to sleep. Have a horrendous day today as well with back to back meetings all day and DH has the hump because I can’t help look after DD who will be off school tomorrow.
