Today’s donations - where have you donated to recently

I made some donations today and wanted to share in case it inspires anyone else. I gave to:

The Scottish wildlife trust - for red squirrels
The salvation army
Action for children

It feels good to support causes that matter to us, big or small. I’d love to hear where you’ve donated recently! Sharing could give others ideas and spread some positivity.

I support a local hospice, Dogs Trust and the Irish Cancer Society with direct debits. I also dropped a lot of food to a local dog rescue last week.

Arlanymor · 02/12/2025 22:34

Every month I donate part of my salary to one 'home' charity and one 'away' charity, I also work for a charity and am involved with foodshare in a voluntary capacity. At Christmas I donate in the name of a loved one - this year it will be for Combat Stress: https://combatstress.org.uk/support-us

I will be giving to our local Home-start as that is participating

I have also donated to WWF (sponsor an animal, Christmas gift for DC), Crisis, Refuge and Contact

RNLI and The Book Trust, local food bank and local befriending scheme.

I will put a few quid in various collection buckets over the next weeks too, usually linked to illuminated tractor rallies!

Littletreefrog · 02/12/2025 22:43

I don't have a budget for charity donations but I volunteer for at least 2 hours a week.

I donated to a locate charity event and also to the local food bank from my grandchildren who forfeited a gift from their Xmas present list . Teaching them the joy of sharing. Feels good for us and for them.

marmitegirl01 · 02/12/2025 22:55

Noah’s Ark children’s hospice. North London.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 02/12/2025 22:55

Food bank. A couple of years ago, I agreed with siblings not to do adult Christmas presents any more. The money I would have spent on them goes to the food bank instead

I have other charities that I support with monthly and ad hoc donations during the year.

They're my home charity - they do amazing stuff don't they. I'm in Swansea.

platinumanddiamonds · 02/12/2025 22:58

It’s good to be able to donate with so much poverty around us ❤️

menopausalfart · 02/12/2025 23:00

@Arlanymor , I only heard of them the other day from someone's just giving page. I'm near Cardiff.

Maybeishouldcrochet · 02/12/2025 23:00

I have organised a donation for the hospital charity
Hampers for parents room,
Hampers for kids ward
Hampers for care of elderly wards
Taken a lot of time, money etc sorting it. Trying to ensure that every patient in hospital on Christmas day gets a present.....
Also given to 3 small local charities, and one in my dad's honour.

Periperi2025 · 02/12/2025 23:00

I let my daughter go on a wild spending spree at the school Christmas fair today, as my donation to the school outdoor equipment fund.

I have a really high threshold for selling stuff on eBay/vinted/ fb and charity shop most stuff which tends to be BHF and air ambulance, largely because they are the closest charity shops to the car park.

I've worked for the nhs as a paramedic for 25 years doing nights and weekends so figure I've done my bit for society there.

Hello M4 neighbour! I heard of them when I first moved to Swansea because they have a base near where I live - which would have been September 2023. They are really very impressive.

Happyandkoiful · 03/12/2025 10:31

I support a few including the Valentino Achak Deng Foundation - education and sustainable development in South Sudan. It's run by/named after the Sudanese man whose early life as a child refugee was told in Dave Eggers' book 'What is the What'. Like many others I started donating when I read the book.
If anyone is looking for somewhere new to give to I'd recommend signing up for a regular donation as they do great work and sadly donations have dropped off in recent years.

Runaroundlow · 03/12/2025 10:36

Oh this heartwarming!

I don't have the spare cash for charity donations, but I do have time (or did!)

I run a youth club and also help run a Brownie unit.

My kids (the youth club and some of the Brownies come from a fairly affluent area) have been busy donating books and game and spending our sessions wrapping these gifts and adding homemade book marks.

We have so far passed these on to:

Our Local Foodbank
Our Local Women's Refugee
Salvation Army
A local charity that donates books to family to get them in to reading.

We also reached out to our local Refugee support hub, but they are currently well stocked with donations 😍

At work we are also raising money for Unicef and a charity that supports children's mental health.

Life is tough for so many at the moment, but people coming together, where they are able to be thankful for what we do have and to support others is really special!

I was super proud of the kids in my group for how they threw themselves in to this collection!
