Today’s donations - where have you donated to recently

I made some donations today and wanted to share in case it inspires anyone else. I gave to:

The Scottish wildlife trust - for red squirrels
The salvation army
Action for children

It feels good to support causes that matter to us, big or small. I’d love to hear where you’ve donated recently! Sharing could give others ideas and spread some positivity.

Water Aid
Cancer research
Local hospice
Dog charity
Also today I bought a Bluetooth waterproof clip on speaker for the giving tree for an 18 year old. I'm sure the little ones usually get the gifts!

I donate food to our local food bank. I donate my time to my local church if they need help with something, usually food related or help with youth club.

Don’t donate money to anyone - don’t know where it goes.

Evan456 · 03/12/2025 18:55

I subscribe to the British legion

Meadowfinch · 03/12/2025 18:58

Food to the local food bank and £10 towards saving the Rothbury Estate from the developers.

Oh, and my time to the parish council, the village hall committee, and making endless food for the youth club when I have time.

I sent off two large boxes today to Kitsquad who take outdoor clothing and equipment and pass it onto people on low incomes who want to go hiking/ camping.
Right now, I am supporting Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher rescue by fostering a dog in practical support.
I also contributed to Arctic One, a charity who support people with disabilities to take part in sports - everyone from those wanting to just be active to paralympians. They also organise sports events open to anyone with a disability which enable you to race

We give monthly donations to;
Cancer research
Battersea cats and dogs
A donkey sanctuary
A horse charity based in Egypt
Our local air ambulance

We donated to a local animal sanctuary on Saturday at their Christmas fayre.

On Sunday I gave a homeless man a gift voucher from Cafe Nero, if that counts.
Also make regular donations to our local food bank, and will donate to toy banks next week.

We are not rich by any means and have noticed the rise in CoL, but we are very lucky that we can still afford to give a little help to others. I wish it could be more.

NotrialNodeal · 03/12/2025 20:54

Charity begins at home!

Have you seen how much some people earn from working for a charity?
The people at the top?
Nope they don’t get a penny from me.
The people who go to our local food bank are the people you see most days in the pub!

stackhead · 05/12/2025 15:41

Work gave the option to donate Christmas bonus (only a small one) to charity, so I did that. That went to Shelter.

Supported the foodbank collection organised by school. Organised by the local church.

Will donate to the salvation army or similar that does presents for children.

CraftyGin · 05/12/2025 15:42

We give 15% of our income to church, plus a few other bits (eg National Trust). We don't tend to give ad hoc.

Lifeisnotalwaysfair · 05/12/2025 15:49

The Brooke, which is to do with horses and donkeys who are working animals in Africa, Asia etc often in horrific conditions. They accept they can't stop people having working animals so teach the owners to care for their animals better, and provide vet services.
Local Wildlife Trust.
Local cat rescue.
RSPB.

I came through Waterloo yesterday and a group were singing carols and collecting for Crisis. So I went online today and donated £50.

But I nearly gave up because the website is set up to give all sorts of odd anounts "as a gift" and it really irked me.

Choccyp1g · 05/12/2025 16:01

Didn't mean to boast about the amount, it was just that I'd planned to give that amount and the carol singing inspired me to get on with it.

RubynRita · 05/12/2025 16:12

Monthly donations.
Air ambulance,
The cat rescue we got our cat from who do fantastic work, all volunteer based. They rely on public support.
My church.
Food bank.

Christmas donations.
Local Hospice.
Local Christmas toy/present appeal.

uhtredofbattenberg · 05/12/2025 16:19

Gave to the St Martin in the Fields homeless campaign
Also to Great Ormond St
And to a local charity supporting premature babies and parents.

These are all one offs - don't have any DDs set up since I stopped supporting Oxfam.

RecordBreakers · 05/12/2025 17:20

minipie · 02/12/2025 22:35

There is a matched funding campaign from today until 9th december - if you give to one of the participating charities it doubles your gift

List is here https://donate.biggive.org/christmas-challenge-2025

I will be giving to our local Home-start as that is participating

I have also donated to WWF (sponsor an animal, Christmas gift for DC), Crisis, Refuge and Contact

That's really interesting @minipie

I've never heard of it.
It would be good to get some more publicity out there - there are so many good causes listed, to choose from.

MargaretThursday · 05/12/2025 17:28

Monthly through payroll giving: MSF and Wateraid.

Then a separate donation once a month to something else. In November it was Hospice Ukraine (fabulous charity, run in part by Henry Marsh). In October it was the Great Central Railway (steam heritage thingy).

hattie43 · 05/12/2025 19:38

today I passed by an RSPCA charity shop . It was full of rubbish but I made a decent donation .
