Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, after snuggles with boy cat in bed 😊. Girl cat came slinking out of dd2's room when we got up, so I think she slept in there. They've had their breakfast (meat and biscuits...hungry this morning!), and boy is now wandering the house being loud <sigh>.

Both girls are still sleeping, although dd2 apparently had an alarm set - I've just heard it vibrating upstairs. She'll be down shortly to break the peace, I imagine.

We're having a moochy kind of day today. Nowhere to be, and nothing in particular to do, other than making sure dd1 makes her 5:30 train back to London for the last two weeks of uni before her Christmas break. She's almost done a whole term already!!

I think I'll make and freeze the gingerbread house dough, and maybe edit my Christmas Tesco order this morning. Nothing too taxing.

This afternoon, dd2 wants to cook a simple roast but I'm not entirely sure when she took the chicken out of the freezer - it seems a bit more frozen than I would expect at this time of day 🤔. She also needs to make sure her homework for the week is done - she was on with some of it as I left yesterday.

Once we've eaten, and dropped dd1 at the station, it'll be an early shower for me and an hour with a book. I'm not hungover, but definitely sluggish & know I had more than two drinks yesterday!

An early night for me will follow, ready for the start of All Things Christmas at school this week 🎅.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam and all, the Christmas tree is going up today! I know it’s still November, but we will be ready for 1st. I might also put Christmas bedding on. Before that I need to finish some work, pop to the shops and do some returns (dd has asd so I’m constantly returning clothes where the seams or fabric aren’t right). I am going to cook a roast, probably chicken, if there is any time left, plant some tulips and watch the Qatar GP.

Sortalike · 30/11/2025 09:07

We are all snuggled up under a blanket on the sofa (dh, dd & I) ddog is not allowed on the sofa so is sulking.

Out with friends for lunch then back for an early night. We're all getting over a nasty cold so taking it easy.

Have a lovely day all x

Mounjaroversary · 30/11/2025 09:13

We got the Christmas tree yesterday from the Christmas tree farm so that's going to get decorated, I'm still lying in bed with a coffee and my two teenage DCs are still asleep. DH is up and going to walk the dog then make pancakes, cats are outside already probably on the prowl for birds.
I have shopping coming at 10, so I'll get up to put that away, then we'll prep a roast, make some mulled wine and spend the afternoon decorating the house and tree, did the outside lights yesterday. Me and DH will walk the dog again and then we'll get the fire lit and eat our dinner in our knees and watch home alone 2 (watched 1 yesterday). DCs have winter exams so they'll probably spend the day revising.
Sunday really is my favourite day, enjoy everyone!

Good morning everyone. There’s just me up so far, I’ve had one cup of tea and I’m just about to go and make another. We have dd18 here today, she turned up around 6.30pm last night which was a lovely surprise.

Today I need to pick up a parcel from Asda then me and dd11 are off to watch Wicked 2 with my sister and niece. I’m going to set off a bit early as now dd18 is here I need to pick up some Christmas pjs, a Christmas jumper and an advent calendar for her ready for 1st December (something I’ve always done for the dc but I didn’t expect her to be here so hadn’t picked any up for her!).

Dd18 and dh will carry on putting the Christmas decorations up whilst me and dd11 are out so hopefully the outdoor ones will be done by the time we get home then we’re having a home made Chinese for tea tonight before showers and bed ready for work and school.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 30/11/2025 09:23

Good morning Lucysmam and others. It's cold but dry here in central Scotland. I've had two coffees then a buttered crusty roll and a cuppa. I'm shortly going to stir my stumps and tidy the kitchen, finish the washing, find homes for the wine delivery and finish the housework as well as make a steak and sausage casserole in the slow cooker. Dd and the boys will pop in at some point. Her tumble dryer has broken down so she uses mine at the moment. Christmas tree won't go up til next weekend. I need to sort two rooms out first: the dining room and the boys room and wash the windows. So those are the tasks for the week ahead. Enjoy your Sunday all

400rider · 30/11/2025 09:36

Good morning on this first advent.
After going to the U.K. Pink Floyd Experience last night I am still here in bed, teasmade has brewed (yes, we have one now 30+ years old) knowing I will have a someone hammering on the door with another Black Friday in the next hour!

No grandchild arrival today or my husband slaving in the kitchen over the family dinner today (how lucky am I married to a chef?)
The editor of the club mag has sent me his request to do an obituary for a ‘National treasure’ who died very unexpectedly (going to be hard because I couldn’t stand the man).
I can see myself procrastinating the day way…..

Topsy44 · 30/11/2025 09:55

DD, Dcat and I are all huddled up in the lounge with an electric heater going as no hot water and heating again! Plumber eventually turned up yesterday and ended up staying until 11pm to finish the power flush - all done but he’s had to come back today to fit the new pump. I really hope it’s only going to take an hour or 2 and then hopefully all will be done with!

Am hoping once plumber has gone will take DD out for her bike ride and I’ll go for a walk at the same time. V cold here today in SE but lovely and bright. Then we will pop into town to get a few bits and maybe get a McDs. Late afternoon we’ll be home as I need to call my Mum, have food online shop coming, DD has homework to do and she needs to bake a cake for school but that could potentially wait until Monday evening.

Then Strictly with bangers and mash as I didn’t get to cook these yesterday, ironing for school/work, baths and bed!!

Tangerinesattack · 30/11/2025 09:59

Morning all! Lovely crisp winter's day here! We're just about to have Hong Kong french toast for breakfast then we'll head off to a Christmas tree festival in a local village. It's one of my favourite pre-Christmas events so I'm looking forward to it.
After that, we'll drop in to the shops to pick up some odds and ends for the week. I'm planning an afternoon of admin and online shopping and DH is painting the hall so DS will have a lazy afternoon of messing around with his retro consoles/ telly. Dinner is going to be Delia's oriental pork casserole.
Hoping for a busy enough day to keep my mind off my return to work tomorrow but not so much that I'm exhausted. Feeling quite anxious about it but it's a phased return so really only a couple of hours - might try to go through my emails later to ease me in.
Have a lovely day everyone!

Rowgtfc72 · 30/11/2025 10:08

Morning!
Up at 430am, just for a change. Tried to Christmas shop a mini t shirt for dh, natwest had a moment and stopped my card due to suspicious activity! Sorted that and then spent an hour trawling online for Wunderhorse, Fontaines dc, Sam fender and Arthur Hill prints for dd.( introduced to Arthur Hill music by dd on the way to morrisons yesterday- hes very 80s synth pop to me)
Done now. Cooked breakfast, done a load of washing and sat with my second cuppa.
Need to prune the roses for winter today as its last garden waste bin on Thursday.
Tree goes up tomorrow so could do with bringing the decorations down. Need to put the chocolate in the advent calendar for dh and dd as well.

ResusciAnnie · 30/11/2025 10:11

Always love reading these threads @lucysmam 😍

Had an epic day yesterday 🤩 today we are planning December for the advent calendar (literal calendar with something to do every day, why did I start that tradition 😂 love it though). Take DS2 to piano lesson which usually involves hot chocolate. Decorating the house as I was a grinch and said we must wait until next weekend to actually get the tree. Beautiful day so I’ll try and get everyone out later.

What’s for dinner everyone??? Need inspo!

DilemmaDelilah · 30/11/2025 10:14

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I was up at 6.30 to give Houdini his breakfast. My thoughts were that I can have a nap this afternoon but his mum will be in the middle of a 6 hour drive at that time so it w would be better to let her get another couple of hours sleep.

They have just left, to go and see a friend before going on their way home. I miss them already, but my goodness it is nice not to have CBeebies on 12 hours a day!

Lunch yesterday was a huge success. I cooked a 3.3kg gammon and between the 8 of us there was very little left. Houdini likes 'ham' a lot! About half a kilo was left probably. And very nearly all of the just over 3 pints of onion sauce was eaten.

Mr Dilemma is just about to nip to Sainsbury's to pick up some clothes I have ordered, just some 'party' clothes that were in the sale. Not that I'm going to any parties, but we are going to Butlins for Christmas and it will be nice to wear something festive.

When he gets back we are going to veg out in front of the television for most of the rest of the day - we are both exhausted! I did a good clear up yesterday after everyone had left. I will have the bedsheets to wash and the bedrooms to do now they are empty, but that can wait until tomorrow.

I've made myself a leftovers 'pie' with some of the gammon bits mixed in with the remains of the onion sauce topped with the remains of the mash, which I will eat tonight. I'm going to fry up the remains of the cabbage with some garlic and some of the gammon bits for Mr Dilemma as he doesn't like onion sauce. I expect he will have some sort of air fried analogue potato with that. There should be enough cabbage for me to have some of that with my 'pie' as well.

Swimming tomorrow, in the morning, and CT scan late afternoon. We will probably have McDonald's for lunch on the way home after swimming - they have brought back the McTasty which has ALL the salad stuff in it so I'm quite looking forward to that.... sans the cheese, pickles and McTasty sauce of course.

DilemmaDelilah · 30/11/2025 10:16

I forgot!!! We were planning on putting up the tree tomorrow..... It might have to wait until Tuesday...

CantThinkOfAnotherUsernane · 30/11/2025 10:28

Morning all.
After a very lazy day yesterday I’m having a more productive day today. I’ve had 2 coffees and have showered and dressed. I’ve put some washing in the dryer but still have a few loads to do today.
Soon I’m nipping to the shops to pick up some fruit and bottled water for me to take to work tomorrow, I’m waiting for a parcel from Next to arrive at some point today too.
DH is still in his PJs but I’ll let him off as he’s working a night shift tonight adult DD’s are asleep and youngest DD is playing on her tablet.
This afternoon I’m popping in to see my dad, then home for a roast dinner and a Christmas film.
Have a lovely day all

Zippedydodah · 30/11/2025 10:31

Go morning everyone, it’s a beautiful sunny morning here and chilly but we’ve had a lovely hour long dogs walk, albeit pretty muddy in places. It was lovely to be outside in the fresh air and, of course, the dogs enjoyed it. I was surprised that there weren’t others out, only saw one person for the whole 3 miles or so.
Gammon hocks in apple and honey sauce for dinner, mash and peas I think, sticky toffee pudding for afters if we’re still hungry.
DH says he’s off to the village lights turn-on at 12, they won’t be switched on until 5 so god knows what he’s going to be doing for five hours in our small village 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m pretty certain that there won’t be dozens of people for him to gossip with all afternoon.
So a lovely quiet afternoon for me, crocheting and warm something on tv or listening to an audiobook. I will take the dogs out before it gets dark, my night vision is atrocious, I lose all sense of balance in the dark 🙄
I’m being nosy and I’m also intrigued @DilemmaDelilah , who is Houdini? I had assumed it was a dog or cat but I’m pretty sure that’s not right now!
I have taken a pork fillet out of the freezer to make a casserole tomorrow with mushrooms and a cider sauce I think, I will put some back in the freezer for another day.
Hope today goes well for you all.

Rainbow1235 · 30/11/2025 10:39

good morning lucysmam and to u all . Glad u enjoyed your day out yesterday. Today we are popping into town as I want pyjamas for the grandchildren from next then I’m thinking Mayb putting the tree up although I hate doing it as it never looks how I want it to look . Then chill with strictly and the jungle . Have a great and safe day all 🫶

gingercat02 · 30/11/2025 10:41

Sacked off my class this morning after a crap nights sleep. Going to do a bit.of tidying up in the garden instead.
I want to make soup for lunch so just browsing recipes while I finish my coffee.
F1 later, hopefully watching Lando Norris win the World Drivers Championship.
Then dinner and the 4th Stranger Things.

frozendaisy · 30/11/2025 10:45

Morning morning

Every piece of clean dry washing is actually put away - I want some sort of national acknowledgement for this, a statue in a pretty park will suffice.

I mean a load is drying in tumble but it’s very much at the start of the drying cycle so that doesn’t count clearly.

H was out with friends last night and stayed out - he will be little use today (I don’t mind) and he has a good 2 hour journey home so no rush

The teens have organised a DND session so I’m making beef roast for 7 later. Again not a problem can do a roast in my sleep.

Quick shower, vacuum, recycle session and can sort of chill and cook slowly all day. So slow productive.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 30/11/2025 10:46

On our way to do some Christmas shopping at a big indoor centre. We haven’t actually got a lot to get so it will be nice to have a wander. DD16 & her friend will shoot off by themselves. I did a few bits before we left, including the dishwasher. No tea prep as we’ll get lunch out. DD will decorate the tree that we bought last night when we get back. Couldn’t believe how cheap it was - £15 for a Nordmann (sp) fir. Smells amazing! Will watch the Strictly results. Have a great Sunday folks 🙂🙂

Ijwwm · 30/11/2025 10:56

After a grey and wet day yesterday, it’s lovely here today - beautiful bright blue sky, though a bit too cold for my liking!

Have just been mooching on here this morning. Had some toast with lovely salted butter. Shower and hair wash shortly, ready for my friend arriving at 1pm. She’s coming to have a look at the back garden transformation so far, then we’re off to my favourite pub for a roast dinner - really looking forward to it after she had to cancel last week.

Then back home, a few chores, cat cuddles, usual weekly call with my sister and then a bit of to before bed.

Have a great Sunday all.

PGmicstand · 30/11/2025 11:01

I have a short to-do list to work through.
Need to take a photo and write a message to send to someone for a project they're doing.
Aiming to get the Christmas tree out of the loft and try to figure out how much beading/tinsel I need to get for it.
Picking DC up from a weekend away.
I suspect several more cups of tea will be needed to achieve any of these.

FamingolosForDays · 30/11/2025 11:27

Morning everyone 😊
I've just woken up after a lovely lay in. I haven't slept well for a few days and have been in a really crap mood so it was needed.

I spent most of yesterday a bit hungover having been to my favourite Christmas annual outing on Friday- I am feeling a smidgen more Christmassy now! Finished off the Xmas shopping last night in the black friday deals and have managed to wrap up all the DCs presents. Had a lovely cuddle with my 6mo old nephew too.

Going to get the Christmas decs out and start putting up the advent calendar, and i'll need to find the elves.

I've also got to go and faff around with putting the trail cam back up- we have discovered we have a fox either living behind the garden or in it somewhere. Got some absolutely cracking videos this week but I forgot to feed her last night so hopefully she is not too cross with me. Need to go and clean the trays and make sure there is access to water for her.

Tesco have just messaged to say they will be here at 4 with this week's food, the DC will arrive after that as they have been with their dad this weekend. Saving the tree expedition until next weekend.
Hopefully the DC will arrive a bit earlier than normal so we can have a cuddle under a blanket on the sofa and early night.

One of my best friends is coming tomorrow to make christmas wreaths so I'm looking forward to that. Work is going to be absolutely brutal for the next two weeks and I have a big site visit coming up so its all focus on that really. Several medical appointments to get to and waiting on test results but hopefully nothing to worry about. I'm glad I have work to focus on!

SilkiePenguin · 30/11/2025 11:28

It's a lovely sunny if cold day here today and we are off to the botanic gardens Christmas lights and will have a nice walk and tarteflette and hot chocolate there. Will have a light lunch from the roast we had yesterday evening.

Cat has just come for his 400th cuddle this morning. He woke us up at 10.30am as we had both slept in but was nice to wake up late. He did wake us for 2 tunas in the night and was after a third but he's not getting that so he's very cuddly and currently playing with a pen as I am now writing.m

We painted the walk in wardrobe yesterday and today will also sort DDs bedroom before her return from university, the day of which keeps changing this week from I don't know, to Friday, to Thursday and now at Saturday depending on what other activities she has. She was at a ball yesterday evening and this morning.

Thislittlekitten · 30/11/2025 11:38

Morning everyone.

A crisp cold but sunny day here in NE Scotland. Just back from a very muddy walk with DDog. DH had bacon rolls and tea ready so enjoying that.

Living room is a state as I was wrapping last night and brought the tree and decorations down. That must be sorted today. I want a clean living room for tonight.

Ds is away and back this afternoon probably mucky and tired. DD is still asleep. I’ll enjoy my tea then shower and get ready to head to shops for some bits.

Chicken Kiev's for tea tonight. I’m going to go through my calendar and emails to make sure I know what’s happening over the next few weeks.

zingally · 30/11/2025 11:39

A quiet, moochy day for me, after a busy day yesterday!

I had a nice lie-in until gone 9am and then a couple of eggs for breakfast. We did the Christmas tree yesterday afternoon, but in the cold light of morning, I noticed a few glaring gaps, so I got the box of baubles out again and put a few more on. I think it's done now!

Next job is to print out what I need for my private tutoring lessons next week, which takes about half an hour. Then I'll do soup for lunch.

I've got one more Christmas present to wrap, which I'll do this afternoon, then I quite fancy a quiet afternoon reading my book and snacking on choccies!
I try and read 20 books a year, and I'm currently on 18, so I need to make a bit of an effort to get two more done. :)

DilemmaDelilah · 30/11/2025 11:49

@Zippedydodah Houdini is my 3 (nearly 4) year old grandson! So-called because as a 2-year-old he was able to unlock or climb over any baby gate.
