The biggest frustration for me is running. I just cannot run, I've tried so many times. It's just too hard, too uncomfortable and boring boring boring. Yet running clubs seem like such a good way to interact with a community.

Cycling, same as above. I HATE it.

Gardening. What a lovely way to spend a sunny afternoon, pottering about planting flowers and growing your own vegetables in your very own garden. Unfortunately I hate gardening. It gives me backache and my hands aren't strong enough.

Feel free to add on...

Pilates 😭 I’ve tried so many times and I just find it incredibly boring and difficult. I always start wishing time away after the first ten minutes. I’ve had to conclude that it’s not for me !!

Pilates is incredibly boring and difficult 😅 But it gives you an arse that points upwards, abs of steel and shoulders/arms that look great in a strappy top - it's two hours of my week that I'm prepared to sacrifice just to look awesome.

Gardening on the other hand.... I may as well just buy a load of dead plants 😭

TheCorrsDidDreamsBetter · 29/11/2025 22:17

Christmas day.

Hate it.

I love the run up to Christmas. I get excited, I love the decorating and the food and the music but I can not stand the stress on Christmas day and I am a decs down on boxing day type of person.

missymousey · 29/11/2025 22:40

Classical music. All of it sounds the same to me!

I'm still resentful that other people think you can hear different characters in Peter and the Wolf. No, mum, I can't. It's just a load of instruments warbling on.

Snorkelling.
So many holidays would be possible, or made so much better, if I could snorkel. But I hate putting my head underwater anyway, can't even do a normal freestyle swimming stroke, I just do breaststroke or go onto my back. Add in a tight, claustrophobic mask covering my nose and mouth and not being able breathe normally and I completely panic and hyperventilate.

I've tried so many times and just can't do it. I so want to be able to float along all relaxed seeing the fish and undersea creatures, and beautiful underwater scenes and not have to keep coming back up for gasps of air every 10 seconds.

Edited

Have you tried the full face masks instead of the two separate pieces? I love mine 😊

Clothes, hair and make-up.
I'd like to look a bit less of a scruff and from time to time over my life I've bought new clothes and experimented with make up but then I just can't be bothered and give it up again to return to living in hiking clothes.

Swimming - love the idea, but my eyesight is so wretched when I take my specs off.

Imagine if you were only allowed to swim blindfold... makes the whole breathey-watery thing even more terrifying, and you can't find your pants in the changing room after, you can't even find the changing room...

I had cataracts and when they were removed I had my shoet sightedness corrected with the implanted lenses.
Once I was allowed to swim again it was amazing - being able to see the end of the pool and the other swimmers and the clock on the wall!

longtompot · 29/11/2025 23:23

Running or jogging, it just hurts my shins. I've always got shin splits when walking to fast

Skin care. Buy the stuff, have the best intentions to do it religiously, and do a few days before thinking what's the point, and go back to my usual hot water and a flannel and a good moisturiser day and night

Waking up early. I'd love to be an early bird but I love my bed too much. I think struggling to fall asleep every night doesn't help

A routine. I have so many things I want and need to do, and the time in between caring for my disabled dds, but zero inclination to do them

Have you tried them halved, boiled for just one minute, then sautéed with chestnuts and crispy bacon lardons?

I saw a recipe very similar to that on Insta yesterday! I will have a look.

Brussels sprouts. I like other green vegetables. I have tried them raw and cooked and...nah.

The very litte ones are tolerable at a work Christmas dinner if not overcooked.

The rest of my family likes them.

They're nicer roasted than boiled.

How long and often did you have to do it to get this result?

Amberlynnswashcloth · 02/12/2025 04:23

Medieval fantasy stories. My brain disengages from anything with a princess and sacred or magical objects; I just can't get into it. Even as a child I disliked Disney princess films and preferred a good crime documentary.

I’d have to do 160 hours a week to get that kind of fantasy result. I do two hours a week of reformer Pilates and my arse still points south!

SliceofTosst · 03/12/2025 22:17

Poached eggs. I really love the look and appreciate why people love eggs benedict, but I just can't eat them 🤢.

And podcasts. Want to like them but it just seems like chatting about fuck all.

I have a friend who is the same about seafood and Strictly Come Dancing.

Jane143 · 04/05/2026 20:24

Fake nails/acrylics. Square eyebrows. I hate that sort of thing. Tried the nails twice but just can’t bear them and the cost of upkeep

ArcticBells · 04/05/2026 20:36

Tea. I’d like to be one of those people who solve all problems by putting the kettle on

Karistyleaftea · 04/05/2026 20:40

@MummyJ36 I was coming on to say Pilates.
I did it for a year and found it so boring.
Plus I was heavier at the end of the year than at the start and in no better shape.
I can't get into reading music and I would so love to play the piano.
I have been looking at clips online showing a sort of "playing by numbers" approach and wondering if it really works.

the80sweregreat · 04/05/2026 20:45

Another vote for gel nails. They felt strange and heavy and chipped after a few weeks and then I had to have them taken off. They looked nice for a few days but the upkeep ! It’s a hobby for some people!
Swimming , cold and clammy and the getting dressed and undressed and all the faff.

IsntItDarkOut · 04/05/2026 21:16

I do piloxing, which takes some elements from Pilates. I can’t do classes where you have to take things slowly and quietly.

IsItWickedNotToCare · 04/05/2026 21:17

All my clothes

TwentyPastSix · 04/05/2026 21:20

Tennis. I’ve got friends who are obsessed with it. Playing it snd watching it. Soooooo boring - hitting a ball backwards and forwards.
Golf the same.

Zapx · 04/05/2026 21:21

Knitting. My 7yo is obsessed. I’m trying to do it with her as a bonding thing but I just find it so weird!

Bourneo · 04/05/2026 21:34

Macha tea
